Choosing to SEE - a tough road
Advantages: Valuable insight into very difficult circumstances; painfully honest

...This is a ?book club book?, another (like Francine Rivers? Redeeming Love that I reviewed some months ago) that I probably would never had read had it not been for our Church Ladies? Book Club. I am still to attend one of the discussion groups (one day!) but I?m still being allowed to join in on the reading.
?Choosing to SEE? is autobiographical, and involves the whole Chapman family. Steven Curtis Chapman is a very well-known contemporary Christian songwriter and singer in the States, and Mary Beth is his wife. She co-wrote it with Ellen Vaughn, and when you realise the subject matter, it?s easy to see that a lot of support would have been needed.
The subject is one that all parents fear ? the loss of a child. This is made clear right from the outset and doesn?t come as a shock part way through. However, Mary Beth first takes us right...

Nice to see it, to see it nice - Pure 1970s Nostalgia!
Advantages: amusing, detailed, easy to read

...extent and was still mourning the decline of the music hall. No wonder he couldn?t see why I was so obsessed with Marc Bolan and Sweet. As I read this chapter I found myself nodding in agreement all the time and wanting to shout ? ?hurrah! You understand! You?ve been there! It wasn?t just me who had my musical tastes rubbished week after week!?
Another chapter is devoted to World of Sport, which instantly took me back to Saturday afternoons when I would pop out to the corner shop for some sherbet crystals and the grumpy man behind the counter would always say to me ? ?hurry up, I?m watching wrestling.? The author reminisces fondly about Jackie Pallo, Mick McManus , Kendo Nagasaki and other favourites, reminding us of the glorious fakeness that was part of the charm. A Blatent Attempt To Cash In
Advantages: Some funny moments
Disadvantages: Costs more because of the MTW association and really isnt worth the money
...There is certainly no shortage of panel shows on TV these days and it would seem that not content with filling up our TV screens, they are also filling up the nation?s bookshelves. One of my favourite panel shows is the Dara O?Briain fronted Mock The Week and just like all the others they have been releasing a book around about Christmas time to accompany the DVD in an effort to milk a little more money out of the cash cow. The books have been coming out yearly since 2008 and it was that first book, Scenes We?d Like To See that I was given as a Christmas present that year.
The book follows the same format as the final round of BBC 2?s hit show and each page has a title, such as ?Unlikely Pub Names?, then listed underneath are a few funny suggestions. This is a format that repeats throughout the entire 159 pages of the book, covering...
