...My husband had to go to Manchester for a meeting at fairly short notice and would be staying over the night before. As I'm not working at the moment, I decided to tag along - any excuse to go shopping in Manchester for a few hours. Unfortunately, it being the 4th March, Manchester United were playing at home in the Champions League and, despite the best efforts of his company travel people, the nearest they could get at a price they were willing to pay - £58 room and £7.50 breakfast - was the Oldham Central Premier Inn (about 12 miles from the Gmex where we were planning to park). Now this hotel is literally right next to Oldham football ground and they were playing at home but we had absolutely no problem getting a room! We actually hadn't realised that the game was on, otherwise we would have pushed it a bit on the way up...

Sweeney Todd without the singing

Advantages: Tod Slaughter. Looked very authentic Victorian

...Everyone now knows of Sweeney Todd now as Tim Burton has brought it right in to the mainstream with his musical starring Johnny Depp. However, since the character's creation in a Victorian serial there have been loads of films made about Sweeney Todd. The first spoken version being George King's 1936 film starring Tod Slaughter (what an apt name) as Sweeney Todd . The film starts off with a man walking into a barber shop in London in the 20s or 30s. He notices a picture of Sweeney Todd on the wall and this leads the barber to tell him the story. ...Although not very wll known commercially, Todd Edwards is a prolific record producer and is very well known in dance music circles. With over fifteen years experience in the business and well over two hundred songs to his name, he deserves alot more credit that he currently has. A resident of New Jersey, his signiture style of one of chunky 4/4 beats and cut up samples which are used to create the melody of the song. Full On Volume 1 is the second album from 'Todd The God' and was released in June 2001 on i! recordings. This is a sort of compilation of Todd's work from 2/3 years prior to it's release with a few new tracks thrown in. If you are a fan of UK Garage or House music then you really should have this in your collection. The first CD is mixed (one track seamlessly runs into the next) and contains 15 tracks. Attend the tale of Sweeney Todd.....

Advantages: Excellent movie, excellent acting and Depp's accent and singing is 5 star.
Disadvantages: Some may find it dark, and the songs are a little over catchy.
