...I've wanted a DVD player that was capable of playing DivX files for a while because of all my anime and por...errr....other video files..., but the players cost more than normal DVD players so resisted for a while. I've seen brands such as KISS and Yamada but later came across this DK Digital DVD-500 DivX DVD player after the prices have dropped. It only cost £41.98 (61.52 Euros) from SVP Communications (AKA Blank Disc Shop). -= The Player =- The player looks sleek with a black and silver design. Black at the front with silver at the top and bottom curving in towards each other at the middle, which I think looks really good. ...Before I bought this DVD player Id never really owned a DVD player before. I had however had and still do have a ps2 on which I used to play my DVDs. I never really went and still don’t go on this so much so I was going to sell it and buy a DVD player. Excellent Upscaling DIVx Player

Advantages: Upscaled DVDs look beautiful on Samsung TVs. DIVx playback is great.
Disadvantages: Slightly Slow to Startup. Remote control has no volume buttons for controlling Samsung TVs.

...A quick introduction to my setup. I own a Samsung LE40F86BDX (40" Glassy Screen LCD HDTV) and a Samsung LE23R87BDX (23" TFT Style LCD HDTV). The 40" has an HDMI input and the second has a DVI interface. When I purchased the 40" TV I found that my old Pioneer surround sound DVD player didn't give me a great picture always due to a few issues so, I bought the Samsung DVD-HD 870 player. The main features of the DVD player are, in addition to standard DVD playback, firstly, it's an upscaling player and secondly, it plays DIVx videos. On the 40" TV, I connected it using an HDMI to HDMI cable (available from play.com) to the TV. A connection like this will carry the audio and the video signals to the TV. ...After my previous DVD player packed in I set out for a cheap replacement with my requirements being that it played divx files and dvd-r discs! (oh and that it looked nice too). After trawling the internet for a couple of hours the BUSH DVD2051 caught my eye at a bargain price in Argos of just £29.99!! I quickly snapped it up and I couldn't be more pleased!! It plays all DVD's flawlessly to a high standard including DVD's with just DIVX or XVID files on them, meaning I can fit up to 6 DVD's onto one disc after converting them. The supplied remote control is also a bonus because you sometimes get cheap ones thrown in with the cheaper players but this one is up to scratch and of a high quality.
