Drifting around Helsinki

Advantages: Some comedy amongst the tragedy, quirky
Disadvantages: Some will find it too depressing and dull

...Ilona and Lauri both have reasonably good jobs in Helsinki: Ilona is a head waiter, Lauri is a tram driver. Then they both get made redundant within a few weeks of each other. Lauri refuses to sign on and, already in debt, they are plunged into despair. Searching for jobs is no easy feat, especially when Lauri finds out that he is deaf in one ear and will never be able to drive again. Can they come to terms with their predicament, or will it be the ruin of their relationship? Review of Drifting Clouds (DVD)

Power is nothing without control

Advantages: Back to the cruising scene with great cars, great sound systems and great girls. Action packed
Disadvantages: It's not as good as Fast and Furious, poor acting, unrealistic story

...Written by Chris Morgan and directed by Justin Lin Tokyo Drift was the third film released under the ?Fast and Furious? name back in June 2006. This review is based on a television showing a couple of weeks ago and not the DVD, therefore I cannot comment on the additional or bonus features, whether it is a single or double DVD, what the cover of the DVD looks like, who is credited on the cover of the DVD or anything else that the DVD contains. Tokyo-Fast ,Not so Furious

Advantages: Fast Cars, Classic Love, Great FX, Great Stunts
Disadvantages: Acting is awkward in places, brief continuation of series characters

...Ok, so this is the third instalment of The Fast and The Furious, or is it another film just borrowing on the success of the other two films. Its a different style of racing, "drifting" its not about that 1/4 of a mile or km anymore its just about going fast and too the limit to beat each other around various raceways notably at the start a multi-storey carpark, to the mountains outside the city. The Cars: The cars range from modded VW's to Vipers, and Hyundai sports. In the start and ending of the film you get some reference to the previous two films which attempt to add some continuity to the storyline, but apart from those references this is all new. Thrown out is the muscle cars of old and the nitrous fueled speedsters, in come new sporty small cars in an urban sprawl, where its not about teh sheer speed but the control...

If you ain't outta control, you ain't in control!

Advantages: Some good action and FX
Disadvantages: Nothing special

...When Vin Diesel and Paul Walker took The Fast and the Furious to the big screen and came back with a big tick next to it, all seemed well. Then 2 Fast 2 Furious saw Diesel effectively replaced with Tyrese Gibson in the bad boy role, albeit a different character. It didn't meet with great reception and was definitely a disappointing sequel. The third film, Tokyo Drift, has all the appearances of a disaster, so I wasn't too worried about putting it on last night as more of a background film as opposed to through something to do. I couldn't have been more wrong. There is a lot of focus in the news at the moment about the dangers of excessive speed and dangerous stunts on the roads, with the use of nitrous oxide as a speed boost strongly criticised as irresponsible. More Cliches Than You Can Shake A Stick At

Advantages: Some Fancy cars
Disadvantages: All been done before, poor direction, script and acting

...After the moderate success of the first 2 movies it seemed almost inevitable that The Fast and The Furious franchise would make a third and hopefully final outing. The first film seemed to have something different, it was a decent concept, with a couple of decent actors and the whole concept worked. The second was no where near as good but at least held a throw back to the first film with the retention of one of the lead characters. From the moment I heard about Tokyo Drift I thought it would be a stage too far, but would I be proved right? Having been turfed out of a number of schools Sean Boswell (Lucas Black) is shipped off to Tokyo to live with his father. He lives in a pretty run down part of town but Sean soon manages to get himself back into the local illegal racing circuit with the help of his new found friendship with Twinkie...

It's Like Being In Tokyo Drift

Advantages: Novel twists on some racing genres (if you haven't played NFS Most Wanted), good to unwind, decent soundtrack
Disadvantages: Can be frustrating, you need a decent machine to really enjoy it, gets samey after a while

...: Race from point A to point B and be the first across the line. Drift : Basically slide around a course without hitting the walls for maximum points (think of The Fast and The Furious Tokyo Drift and you get the idea) Checkpoint : Get to the various checkpoints within the time limit. Speedtrap : Be the fastest to go through the speed cameras (don't try this in the real world folks!) Now by far, my favourite race mode always used to be drift. I've always got something out of going around corners side ways, and I was overjoyed when I saw it return to Carbon (they'd taken it out of Most Wanted), but my joy was short lived. It's nigh on impossible to drift in the canyon races. Sliding around is all well and good until you either hit a wall (all to easy to do) or hit one of the corners that have a flimsy barrier instead of a wall and go...

The Drift - Scott Walker

Advantages: utterly unique - an amazing album
Disadvantages: extremely hard to get into

...How do you go about describing something that is utterly unique? I can guarantee you will never have heard an album quite like The Drift. Not even previous Scott Walker albums prepare the listener for the experience of The Drift. It is, quite simply, the most beautiful, the most emotional, the most intense and the downright scariest album you will ever hear. I can't even imagine what was going through Scott's mind to compose and create such songs. The music is an uneasy mix of conventional instruments, bass, guitar, drums, with orchestral instruments and thoroughly unconventional sounds - on one track the percussionist is thumping a side of meat, on another concrete blocks are used. My Tokyo experience

Advantages: Very nice trip, worth going back again

...Japan is always one of my favourite country to visit in Asia. Let me share with you my itinery in my last trip. This tour took place when I last visited my parents in Hong Kong. Day 1: Got up at 6 to get to the airport for the flight at 9am. After 3 and a half hours, finally arrived at Tokyo. Went to the toilet straight after, there are still two types of toilet(the Western and Japanese styles), like the way it was when i came a few years ago. Weather was not too bad, a bit cloudy but not too hot. Arrived at hotel at around 6 and started my Tokyo adventure after a brief break. Last time I stayed in the Ginza area which is quite commercial. Advantages: great soundtrack, realistic drifting scenes, beautiful girls, hot cars
Disadvantages: simple story, no deep characters

...This third installment of the Fast and the Furious (the original starred Vin Diesel, who makes a brief appearence in this movie)stars Sean Boswell as Lucas Black, who we find out is a part time mechanic and street racer in the US. In the intro to the movie we see Lucas take on Clay (Zachary Ty Bryan)in a red Chrsyler Viper over a challenge concerning a cheerleader Lucas sees in the parking lot. The race ends badly when Lucas smashes his car to pieces and gets convicted by the cops for reckless driving.
