A superb value hotel in one of the best Tokyo locations

Advantages: Clean, modern, excellent location
Disadvantages: Small rooms and not cheap, but not many places in the area are cheap!

...I'm lucky to have never stayed in a bad hotel in Tokyo. For this trip I decided I wanted to stay near Shinjuku, so previous hotels were out of the question and my budget is getting smaller all the time. Through a combination of reviews on Tripadvisor, rating on hotels.com and a good listing of hotel rates from lowest to highest there emerged a clear winner, the Hotel Sunroute Plaza Shinjuku! Getting there We arrived in Tokyo on the Shinkansen train from Kyoto, switched train lines at Tokyo station and emerged at Shinjuku (one of the major stations in the city). The journey from Tokyo station was easy, it's not hard to get to Shinjuku really as it's such a major station. If you're arriving at Narita you have a couple of options to get to the hotel, you can take the Narita Express train or there is also a bus which stops right...

FABULOUS HOTEL!

Advantages: Everything you need in one place and excellent location!
Disadvantages: none!

...I have stayed in this hotel 4 times and I love it. It is in an excellent location in Shinjuku close to Shinjuku station and the main shopping area You must check out the Tokyo Metropolitan Government building which is opposite this hotel, it has a free viewing platform where you can see breathtaking views of the Tokyo skyline and Mount Fuji on a clear day! The hotel is wonderful, staff are helpful and friendly and speak English very well. The rooms are very clean and stylish and quite large by Tokyo hotel standards, most rooms in Tokyo hotels are tiny. The rooms have everything you need for a comfortable stay including a mini bar, hairdryer, plenty of storage space, a writing desk, flat screen TV with both western and Japanese channels. Great hotel, great location, great price!

Advantages: Location, has everything you need, helpful staff
Disadvantages: Only small space for hanging clothes but not a major issue

...I stayed in this hotel last November for 2 weeks and would definitely stay again. It is in an excellent location in the centre of Shinjuku, a fabulous shopping district with wonderful neon at night and you are also very close to Shinjuku station which is great to travel to other parts of the city. The hotel was clean, stylish and the staff were very helpful. The bed was comfortable and the room had everything you need including a mini fridge, safe, hairdryer and a TV with Japanese and western channels. The views from the window were wonderful at night where you could see for miles over the Tokyo neon skyline. The room was quite small however this is normal for Tokyo, I have stayed in many hotels here and you only tend to get large rooms in the luxury 5 star hotels. Day 1: Got up at 6 to get to the airport for the flight at 9am. After 3 and a half hours, finally arrived at Tokyo. Hotel International

Advantages: Location, breakfasts

...I recently went on a cultural girlie trip with a friend to Paris. I was left to do all the booking. I was looking for a reasonable hotel, near a metro stop, which included breakfast. I came across the Hotel International on various travel sites and it seemed fairly highly rated so I booked us in for three nights. LOCATION: The hotel is located 6 Rue Auguste Barbier in the 11th Arrondissement. The nearest Metro stop is Garcourt which was a two minute walk away and it was a five minute walk to Republique which gives good links to other lines. It's not really central enough to avoid the Metro and walk to the attractions but it was located so close to a stop that it seemed ideal. PRICE: Prices vary depending on size of room and season. There are singles, doubles and triples available. We paid Euro254 for the whole time...

...Tokyo Project presents The Collection CD comes from the new venture by Mark Doyle, who was previously boss at Hed Kandi before starting up his own label. This is their first release. Disc One It opens promisingly with a track called The Weekend by Michael Gray which is quite a famous club classic; I was disappointed to know I already had it on Hed Kandi: Disco Heaven from last spring. It mixes well with Jamiroquai's Seven Days in Sunny June, which is the next track, and a commercial hit, which most tracks used on such compilations aren't. This was followed by Sean from Aya, a track that was on Hed Kandi's Spring Sampler 2005 and their Winter Mix 2004. Martin Solveg's Everybody was one of the better tracks by him and I also enjoyed the Mylo Vs Miami Sound Machine's Doctor Pressure, a combo of Dr Beat from MSM and Mylo's Drop...
