TomTom - 930T review
Review of TomTom GO 930T by
asam123
Advantages: sleek black finish and pocket-sized build.
Disadvantages: Expensive
...The 930T is nicely designed, with a sleek black finish and pocket-sized build. There are few controls on the exterior save for a power button, but the interface is so well designed that this isn't really a problem. On-screen buttons are large and easily accessible, and the massive range of features on offer has been effectively condensed into an intuitive menu structure.
Tapping the map view opens the main menu, from which you can plan a route in a number of ways, pair a mobile phone via Bluetooth, manage favourites, itineraries and maps and access music and media. The 'Help Me' feature offers guides, advice and instant directions and contact details for emergency services, and a range of preferences offers full control over customising the interface and information provided en-route.The 930T we have here is the top-end model, featuring...

Tom Tom's top of the range
Review of TomTom GO 930 Traffic by
jonahea
Advantages: Voice control ... 3D modeling at tricky motorways
Disadvantages: Voice command is sluggish
...This new GPS system is Tom Tom high-end version. The Tom Tom Go 930 drives you where you need to go with accurate directions and new navigation tools such as voice address entry and advanced game guidance!
The Pros--- Offering entry by voice keeps your hands on the wheel if your driving and need to change route… the new lane assistance helps when the roads get complex by rendering the roads in a 3D form- making the route easier to follow. This portable system also has the classic feature such as route calculation time, text to speech function, integrated blue tooth, maps for UK, US, Canada and the rest of Europe, a remote control and a widescreen display!
It also has a very long 5hour battery life which is obviously very handy in tricky situations.
Another bonus is it comes with free speed camera software- which I believe to be a must...

TomTom One 3rd Edition
Review of TomTom ONE 3rd Edition by
martin0201
Advantages: Easy to use, great additional features
Disadvantages: Slightly slower than other models on satellite detection
...was really easy to set up. The on/off button is situated on the top of the unit and to turn on you simply have to hold down for 2 seconds. Once switched on, you are guided through the initial set up procedure, including setting the date and time, the units of distance (miles or kilometres) you would like to be displayed as well as other options to do with maps and routes.
Using the Product
Here I could go through a detailed way to use the TomTom One 3rd Edition but I feel the best way to describe it would be setting up a home address, and then setting a destination.
Setting 'Home'
This is really simple; all you have to do it press the screen, and then go to Preferences. Then find the option 'Set Home' and then press it. You have to type in your city, then street then number.
Finding a destination
Once again, press the screen and go...

Tom Tom Eastern European Maps
Review of TomTom Map of Eastern Europe Maps by
z1100a2
Advantages: Very accurate and simple to use
Disadvantages: Couldn't find any !
...I purchased this through the TOMTOM website and downloaded it to my TomTom GO520 T. It downloaded really quickly through our 8 meg connection and I had it installed on my device within a few minutes.
We used it for a driving holiday to Hungary in Feb 2008 and it proved fantastic - we did not come accross any roads (including tiny farm trtacks) that were not listed. All the POI's we used were accurate (petrol stations, shops, shopping centres, tourist attractions) and generally we could not fault it. It is especially useful for planning a journey as with all the TomTom products you can preview the map and route.
In Mid June 2008, I downloaded the new updates Eastern European map and am going to test this out during August on yet another Hungarian driving holiday.
Well done TomTom. I can honestly say that both the TomTom devices...

Tom Tom Go Gets Better
Review of TomTom GO 510 GPS receiver by
debbiejkeith
Advantages: Easy to use, clear and concise directions, also acts as a hands free kit
Disadvantages: none
...The TomTom GO 510 gives clear concise directions accompanied by a map marked with the route you are following which comes in handy for those mini roundabouts that don't register on the map.
Put in your destination by selecting a favourite (a place pre-defined by you), an address (can be done by postcode or street address) a town or a point of interest and TomTom will get you there. You can select which way you want to go (shortest, quickest, etc) and what time you want to be there. If for any reason you want / need to go a different way mid-journey TomTom can do that for you too. If you need to go to several places in one journey you can use the itinary planner to do that.
This series of the TomTom GO lets you know what the speed limit is on some roads and lets you know when you are exceeding it.
The widescreen makes the images...

SatNav that's Better value than ever
Review of TomTom ONE V2 Regional Great Britain by
LJOne
Advantages: Easy to use touchscreen SatNav
Disadvantages: Needs to be charged frequently
...driving.
When purchasing the TomTom ONE V2 the standard box contents are:
-TomTom ONE
-SD card
-Windscreen Holder
-USB Car Charger and USB cable
-Installation CD
- TomTom Documentation
We should have purchased one of these ages ago. Our family journeys are so much more relaxed now as even local trips can make use of the TomTom and help find better routes. You just use the touch screen to enter a destination, or even better a postcode, and away you go. Also, if you go wrong, the TomTom ONE reassesses your route and works out the best way again.
I believe the Tom Tom One V2 is very good value for money now that it is around £150. I recommend that you also avail yourself of the safety camera download which can sometimes be included in the price. This is updated regularly and I recently noticed that we were being advised of temporary motorway...

TomTom Does It Again
Review of TomTom GO 720T GPS receiver by
Surj1
Advantages: VRT (Voice Recognition Technology), 4.3 inch widescreen & Sleek Design
Disadvantages: None
...TomTom is a trustworthy name when it comes to GPS units. I recently bought this and loved it. The TomTom GO 720T is an updated version of the GO 510 which was an amazing GPS unit itself.
The TomTom GO 720T has a comfortable 4.3 inch widescreen and this unit is one of the first GPS systems to have VRT (Voice Recognition Technology). The system records your voice and gives you an answer to your vocal question of your chosen route. You can ask the TomTom to work out your route from point A to B by simply using your voice. The TomTom allows you to choose from a number of pre set voices to guide you through your journey or even your own voice.
The TomTom GO 720T has a new never seen before graphics interface. The look of the maps is sleek and the buildings are in more detail. Set in the TomTom's memory is a list of speed cameras...

Poor Tom never wins
Review of BBC1 - Tom and Jerry by
Louise90
Advantages: The humour throughout the whole cartoon
Disadvantages: Could be too violent for small children
...is really after Jerry, but the dog thinks Tom is provoking him, so will go for the kill, barking and growling in the process.
Nobody ever really gets hurt, but it's a hilarious cartoon to watch. I sometimes wonder if this is fit for children to watch with all the battering that goes on! I love this cartoon, and always will....

Have TomTom will travel!
Review of TomTom ONE Local by
kwildchild
Advantages: Compact, neat and gets you where you want to go
Disadvantages: Don't use Shortest route on long journeys
..., basic really, but the TomTom itself is really fool proof, even for me LOL.
So, onto running the TomTom.
After inserting the SD card into the TomTom I then plugged it into the lighter socket of the car and turned it on, after a couple of seconds the TomTom asked me several questions, such as right handed or left handed settings and then it found my location, very quick indeed.
Then I gave it a little test and got it to work out the route to my friends via the fastest route, and then via some of the other options it has: Fastest route, Shortest route, Avoid motorways, Walking route, Bicycle route and Limited Speed.
It's really quick at working out the route, so I went for Fastest route, as it was telling me directions, I decided to go off route and with a matter of seconds it told me to change direction, so I carried on, then after a few...

The End of Maps??
Review of TomTom GO 500 by
adz313
Advantages: great, reliable service, large screen
Disadvantages: nothing major, takes a while to adjust route
...The Tom-Tom GO 500 offers a lot of functions for what it costs. the screen is of a good size, and it has a crisp, clear picture. the touch screen capability allows you to quickly and easily navigate the menu and select the many options.
the GPS it uses is very up to date and as yet, it hasn't directed us down a road that no longer goes where we are headed. however, the Tom-Tom does take a while to adjust its navigations and will persitently try and make you turn around when possible, which can get rather annoying. however, as this only generally happens when you choose shortcuts as you know where you are going, it is not generally a problem, as you don't need a GPS system to get you to the local shops do you?
The Tom-Tom now features an extra memory card slot, which i assume allows you to update the map, which is handy, it also allows...
