...Seen a few negatives ie.WOLFIE665 review below and past experience with Tomtom made me nervous, but my TomTom 720T arrived and with some trepidation I linked it to my PC to update and it was seamless, worked a treat. Couldnt download the latest European map 7.10 as I had 7.5 under their "latest map guarantee" but hopefully Tomtom will sort me out. Bought a carry case (you need one) from Lindens Ebay for £4.99 in blue. they have black, brillant and it arrived in a flash, cannot understand why someone would pay over £19 for a leather one as this is padded, perfect. ...With some trepidation as Ive dealt with TomTom in the early days I ordered up the Go 720T. Ive read a few negatives but Ive used the tomtom software for some years on my PDA (after they got it right) and so am familiar with it The 720T arrived free overnight by 1pm from "The Link" for £256 and I set it up on my PC. It linked without problems via the Tomtom Home V2.1 The only item was the map update, it said I had the latest map 7.05 when in fact the website had 7.10 map. Ive emailed Tomtom so hope they will provide me with a link under their latest map guarantee. The unit has worked well and Im pleased I made the purchase. The Traffic addition linked up but as yet I havent completed any long journeys to see if it kicks in. (The New TomTom Go 720 has Map share technology which enables you alter your maps – which may prove to be a very good feature to have – however currently comes at a cost). The XL comes with pre-programmed speed camera’s, this is a feature that is not present on the TomTom One. This can be updated. Come on guy’s it’s a facility that shouldn’t be needed because we all drive at the speed limit. Even if this was to be true, it is nice to have the warning come up on the screen. It counts down how far away the stationary camera is and tells you what speed you should be doing. Another ‘playful’ feature is the TomTom Buddy finder which allows you to see where your TomTom friends are. The experience ***************** Earlier, driving to some place meant that we had to do some prior research about the route to take. Then during the journey, with my husband driving, I had to play the role of the navigator, keeping the map book open, keeping a track of where we are and which route we need to take. Even when you have actually downloaded driving route instructions from a site and printed them out, what use are they if you take one wrong turn? All these hassles actually took the fun out of driving. But after buying the TomTom One, all we need to do is get the postcode of the place we need to get to, key it into the TomTom and we are ready to go. ...need to do is slide the TomTom on the mount by using what can only be described as a slot. The main reason you get satellite navigation is for directions so I'll talk about that first. Once you turn the machine on and your current position is found (which takes no more than about 15 seconds from pressing the on button to your position being found) then you need to put in your destination. This can either be done by putting in the postcode or manually finding the street. Once you do this the TomTom will calculate your route and confirm it to you. Once this is done then you are up and ready to go. It's as simple as that. As you travel it also gives out information via the speaker such as an upcoming turn or a speed camera ahead. This information is very useful and gives you plenty of warning of what to do. It will tell you when you need... Read review

...the route, basic really, but the TomTom itself is really fool proof, even for me LOL. So, onto running the TomTom. After inserting the SD card into the TomTom I then plugged it into the lighter socket of the car and turned it on, after a couple of seconds the TomTom asked me several questions, such as right handed or left handed settings and then it found my location, very quick indeed. Then I gave it a little test and got it to work out the route to my friends via the fastest route, and then via some of the other options it has: Fastest route, Shortest route, Avoid motorways, Walking route, Bicycle route and Limited Speed. It's really quick at working out the route, so I went for Fastest route, as it was telling me directions, I decided to go off route and with a matter of seconds it told me to change direction, so I carried on... ...to about half way through and charge again. Do not let it drain. You can always use another battery but you can't change it. You have to dismantle it and to put the icing on the cake you have to solder a few bits. WHHAATTT? I hear you saying. Well tough would say TomTom or just use it with the in-car charger from then on.
