...I have owned my Tom Tom for nearly two years now, and use it most days for work. The system is really easy to use thanks to a touch screen menu system, using symbols as well as descriptions for the main menu options, and it is really easy to program and set up with your own details. For the most part, the mapping is accurate and gets you to where you want to be, but as with all sat nav's a degree of common sense is required, and you should never take all of the instructions too literally! What I have been dissapointed with recently was the performance of the system in Cornwall. No matter how you program it the Tom Tom will always lead you down narrow country lanes rather than the safer A or B roads, and very annoingly it was convinced that we were in the middle of a field when on some parts of the A30, despite updating the maps...

Advantages: Easy to Use, Cheap with All the Functions you really Need
Disadvantages: Being Told to Keep Right on Motorways. Can be Distracting.

...Great little unit. This piece of kit is a lifesaver. Not only can it help you with directions but I'm sure it will save more marriages than coucilling. No more arguing over poor directions or where to go. The system has many useful functions. 1. Basic GPS - To get from A to B. This can be via postcode, location name etc. Generally very good just get to the area you know and let the TomTom take you from their. See downside point 2. 2. Points of interest - Can include anything from restuarants & cinenas to your local funeral dirctor - Many free sites to download from. 3. Speed camera details. 4. Speedo - My 2002 Mondeo underclocks by about 10% and I've only just noticed so I can now get everywhere 10% quicker without worrying about speeding - This is Great news. 5. ...The Tom Tom ONE XL Europe is one of the easiest car navigation devices to use. It is mostly self explainatry but if you are unsure how to use it, the manual is very specific and very easy to understand. In my opinion the actual software that is installed on it is excellent. When driving, it is easy to follow all of the instruction that are being said by the automated voice. The one concern with this product is the very short battery life and sometimes, when it has been previously been connected to the computer to install updates, the system gets stuck and freezes. It has to be reset for it to function properly again and then it takes up to ten minutes!! There are many options that you can choose when planning your route so you drive the route that is most suitable for you. Other than the one disadvantage, it is a very good car navigation...

I did have quite a few problems with the ordering and collection of item, but thats a whole other Tesco review! The XL One comes in a pack with a small black pouch case, which is fastened by velcro, a mains charger, an in car charge (to be plugged into the lighter switch in the car) and the holder/stand that suctions the Sat Nav to the wind screen.
