...In my spare time ? what a laugh! I was browsing through Ciao products and discovered that no one had written about Walkers Tomato and Basil crisps. The name sort of rang a bell. I thought there was a bag of them in the cupboard that my husband had added to the trolley one day, so exploring the depths of the big walk in cupboard I discovered some multipack bags of crisps and sure enough in the type classed as ?Mediterranean? was Tomato and Basil flavour. In fact there are 3 varieties in this pack the other two being ?Feta cheese and Greek Kebab. As it was nearing lunch time I decided to sample them along with some bread and cheese. Tesco Tomato and Basil Soup

Advantages: It's convenient to store once the contents are opened because of the plastic container
Disadvantages: Perhaps a little pricey

...I found this soup to be thick, chunky and tasty. It had a lovely fresh aroma which wasn't too overpowering. The taste was just right, not too sharp, but with a lovely tomato taste with the right amount of seasoning. It was lovely with some freshly baked and buttered bread. I thought the contents were generous, plenty for two people. The soup itself is nice and chunky, with tomatos that tasted fresh. It's quite a filling soup, and although perhaps it is a little pricey, it's so nice that you could actually pass it as home made! Some tomato soups can be a little sharp tasting, leaving that nasty "tang" at the back of your throat. Not so with this soup. Thumbs up from me every time. I also like the fact that I can easily store the remainder in the fridge in its plastic container....

The seeds can be sown under glass in late March or early April. Then the little plants can be moved to the garden in early June. I bought another basil plant, in good condition from Tesco's, whilst waiting for the basil seeds I had planted to flourish. Within a fortnight the plant was a sad specimen, it died a slow and painful death (well, painful to observe anyway). The seeds sprouted and produced a weak and pathetic replacement that really was a waste of time. I have since tried countless times to get a basil plant to thrive in my home, with no success yet.
