Pandora Tomorrow - Disappointing for some
Review of Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow (PS2) by  smooth_criminal_

Advantages: Solid gameplay, good graphical detail, better plot
Disadvantages: Doesn't push any boundaries, uninspired

...Several months ago I wrote a review on ciao for Splinter Cell. The game was atmospheric, original, well conceived, and at the same time, realistic. However, as is so often the case, it's sequel; Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow, simply doesn't live up to its predecessor. Seemingly for the rest of the gaming community, this game has been hailed as a success. I believe however, that its sole reason for so called success is based almost entirely upon the weight which the original game carried. This is often true with other brilliant games. Take Metal Gear Solid 2 for example; was it the revolutionary, mind blowing, conspiracy driven masterpiece that we all expected? No. Was it as good as Metal Gear Solid? No. Did we call it a benchmark? Yes! And even now that we know it's not the sheer brilliance it was supposed to be, if we could turn... Read review

Pandora Tomorrow, Ciao Today!
Review of Pandora Tomorrow (PC) by  cybersplat

Advantages: 3rd person, cool moves, gadgets galore, realistic AI
Disadvantages: a bit easy and short, also incompatibility with some graphics cards

...~~~~~~~~~~~Introduction~~~~~~~~~~~ You start of Tom Clancy's sequel to the fantastic Pandora Tomorrow deep in the action, there is no time for training this time you are on a pier on your way to infiltrate the Indonesian US Embassy. In total their are eight fantastic and extensive missions all over the world with gorgeous settings and each mission allows you to use all your gadgets and all your stealth tactics moves include the impressive swat turn. ~~~~~~~~~~~The Graphics~~~~~~~~~~~ I have an ATI 9200 an the graphics were stunning, they were crisp and the lighting effects worked amazingly well to create an almost realistic simulation of the outside world, putting the original Splinter Cell to shame. Alone the game would be an average game but the graphics really do give it stunning qualities and shadow effects which you... Read review

The Tomorrow People - today
Review of The Tomorrow People - The New Generation Complete Series (Box Set) by  aragorn01

Advantages: Well presented, good storyline
Disadvantages: DVD standard film transfer - not upscaled to DVD quality

...This series is one from my childhood and one I remember well. It was enjoyable back then and still enjoyable now. It features five stories of five episodes each over three seasons. Each story comes into their own with new characters in each, featuring the main cast Adam, Megabyte and Ami (excluding two Tomorrow People Kevin and Lisa who left after the the first season). Each story brings a new dynamic and understanding of the Tomorrow people and how they react to each inicident which is the basis of each story, from their beginnings (where they find out they're Tomorrow People) through to the final episode. Each of the stories are well written and directed, the quality of story is very good and melds each episode with the next with good continuity, so that each story doesn't look fragmented or disjoined. Overall a very good series... Read review

The World of Tomorrow Is In The Past
Review of Sky Captain And The World Of Tomorrow - Various Artists by  berlioz

Advantages: A great tribute to the adventure scores of the 1930's.
Disadvantages: The constant action and too loyal a following of the Williams tradition can deter some people

...With Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow Edward Shearmur has taken the classical sensibility from The Count of Monte Cristo, the chromaticism of Reign of Fire, and combined them in the grand old orchestral style of John Williams and James Horner of the early 1980's, with more than a nod towards the Golden Age masters Erich Wolfgang Korngold and Max Steiner. In this score, Shearmur lets all restrictions loose and writes music as over-the-top as he can. Of course this lends to the thought that the music loses much in the way of originality, often sounding like a mere Williams mock-up, but this would be undermining the quality of the score. The main theme, first presented in "The World of Tomorrow," is a heroic fanfare in the best superhero style, the beginning of which could be straight out of Williams' Superman of 1978... Read review

Day After Tomorrow: where will you be??
Review of The Day After Tomorrow DVD by  nickjj78

Advantages: Stunning visual and special effects
Disadvantages: Not the most original plot of all time...

...The Day After Tomorrow ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Is this a big budget movie with lots of action and scenery? Yes Does it have a fantastic plot? Not really Lots of people I know have complained to me that this film doesn't really have a great plot, but correct if I am wrong in that this is the sort of film that DOESN'T have a great plot; it's not Shakespeare or Tolstoy but rather it's big Hollywood with stunning, ground breaking visual effects that must be seen at the cinema to be believed, a good looking cast with a love story between two of the young leads. It won't change your life but the Day After Tomorrow is very watchable and definitely worthwhile watching. ~~~~~~~~~ The plot: The main character is Adrian Hall who is played by Dennis Quaid and is a climatologist (if that is a real word!!) who predicts... All Tomorrow's Parties...
Review of All Tomorrow's Parties - William Gibson by  lazcorp

Advantages: pulls together all the plots from Virtual Light and Idoru
Disadvantages: leaves you wanting more!

...All Tomorrow's Parties does a good job of drawing together all of the plot arcs from the two previous books in this series (Virtual Light and Idoru), and provides a more cohesive and satisfying ending than Mona Lisa Overdrive did in his previous series. This, I think, is because Gibson's skills as a novelist are increasing with age and experience. He has learnt the value of returning to familiar characters and locations - which always pleases the reader. All Tomorrow's Parties drives along at Gibson's typical racing pace, but because the characters are familiar from the earlier 2 books, you're not left feeling lost in his near-future dystopia, and the sympathies you've developed for characters like Rydell and Chevette keep you engrossed as Gibson thunders towards the exciting (and surprising) denoument. (some more details... Read review

Tomorrow is just another day for Bond
Review of Tomorrow Never Dies DVD by  pmcds

Advantages: Great modern work all round
Disadvantages: Ever so slightly lacks Cubby Broccoli's magic

...Tomorrow Never Dies (1997) is the 18th Bond film, and the second starring Pierce Brosnan as James Bond. Brosnan's first outing as Bond in Goldeneye in 1995 was a great success following a 6 year gap since Timothy Dalton's Bond in Licence to Kill in1989. Goldeneye bridged the gap following the end of the Cold War and the reduction of Soviet villains for Bond, and paved the way for a more modern Bond dealing with more topical issues, as we see here in Tomorrow Never Dies. The Plot Despite the efforts of James Bond to prevent him, American terrorist Henry Gupta acquires a GPS encoder used by British forces to sell to media giant Elliot Carver, who plans to use the encoder to start a war between China and the Unted Kingdom. Unaware of this, but suspicious of Carver, Bond is sent undercover to find out what is going on, and to rpevent... Read review

The day after Tomorrow doesn't look too hopeful
Review of The Day After Tomorrow DVD by  niplig

Advantages: Good effects
Disadvantages: you already know the storyline

...The Day After Tomorrow was, I have to say, was a bit of a disappointment. It was not a bad film but it just was not worth all the build up and excitement. The reason I did not enjoy it that much was that it made absolutely no lasting impression on you. I can remember the story and the characters but at no point was I overwhelmed or amazed by it. As everybody will have seen from the trailers, the plot is very simple. Polar ice caps are melting and causing the ocean to cool down and this is causing bizarre weather conditions, which could cause a second ice age. Then the storyline talks about how different people survive (or don’t). One thing that I did think was well done was the special effects. For example, there were wolves, which before hand I found out were computer generated so I was expecting big lumps with legs and a head... Read review

Tomorrow Never Dies - It just gets colder
Review of The Day After Tomorrow DVD by  REDF

Advantages: Excellent SFX and thought provoking
Disadvantages: The Hollywood ending

...The next time you relax at home and think to yourself,'I know I think I'll burn some fossil fuel', think again, as who knows what could happen tomorrow. The concept of our misuse of planet earth has been highlighted on numerous occasions and the 'greenhouse effect' that delivers us hotter summers and harsher winters stands as a testament to our destruction of the ozone layer and all that that will bring with it. The idea here follows this train of thought and we witness the polar ice caps melting and the sea levels rising. This triggers tidal-waves, tornadoes and freak storms aplenty, but also disrupts the earths air currents and plunges most of the northern hemisphere into the early stages of the new ice age .. as it would I suppose. This is where this movie differs from most of it's genre, in that we have to accept... Read review

Pandora Tomorrow - definitive stealth is back
Review of Pandora Tomorrow (PC) by  polar_uk

Advantages: Epitome of the stealth genre. Innovative multiplayer
Disadvantages: Single player game a little on the short side.

...INTRODUCTION Welcome to the sequel to the game that defined the stealth genre. The original Splinter Cell was a masterpiece, with unprecedented levels of realism, playability and tension. Pandora Tomorrow has a hard job following this, but does itself proud. You are Sam Fisher, ex Navy SEAL turned NSA special-ops agent. The cutting edge of your Splinter group, you officially do not exist. Hiding in the shadows and killing with immense precision, you are a one-man army against a shadowy, technological Indonesian terrorist group. The choice between leaving a witness or a corpse is non-existant. INSTALLATION Get the game box, a certain amount of trepadition, and a good book. Pandora Tomorrow is a big game, with three discs for installation alone and one for playing. you'll need a good 2GB of hard disk space, Windows 98+, a 1GHz... Read review
