...After deciding that I would buy my mum a sat nav for christmas, I went about looking for a good, easy to use and well priced product. I knew that I didn't need anything complicated or fancy, or even for europe as my mum has never had a sat nav before and has trouble with complicated electrical items.
After narrowing down this tomtom Start, I was a little reserved from buying it due to its £99.99 price in pretty much all high street and online stores. I didn't buy it, and went away to look for another present.
The next day, I came across an offer at Argos who had the TomTom start at £69.99, Bargain! I immediately reserved one in my local store and picked it up first thing, before wrapping it and putting under the tree.
My mum's immediate reaction was delight and suprise at receiving the TomTom. This was mainly due to the fact it had...

TomTom One Carry Case
Advantages: Well priced, well made, official product, specially designed to accomodate your Sat Nav.
Disadvantages: Plain colour, familiar to thieves.
...I have always owned and used carrying cases for my electrical products and my Sat Nav system is no different. Whether it be an mp3 player or mobile phone, I have always experimented with different cases and covers to ensure I keep them in tip-top condition. When I bought my TomTom One The first thing I noticed with the product is that it didn't come with a carrying/protective case. With a touch screen operation I knew it would be important to keep it protected from damage and especially scratches as I would have to look at it during driving to navigate with.
The TomTom One carrying case is an official TomTom product, the fact that it is an officla product certainly appealed to me as I knew the fit would be second to none. Costing a very reasonable £5 from by local electrical superstore I knew it was a steal and I looked forward to...

TomTom will Lead the Way
Advantages: Gets you from A to B, Good suction mount, Lots of features incuding Bluetooth handsfree.
Disadvantages: Traffic Live doesn't always avoid all traffic, Map can get out of date. Can't turn off some option
...As my old TomTom's battery wasn't charging properly, I'd decided to sell it and then replace it with a more up-to-date version with traffic updates to help me navigate the London roads, so I went for a TomTom 820 HD Traffic.
Got it for £168 on Amazon, which I think is a pretty good price for one including Western Europe maps (about £10 more than UK only version). I may never use it outside of the UK but figured it would retain for when I decide to re-sell it. I expect it to last a good few years like my old TomTom One Classic (3rd series), which lasted about 5 years and only cost me £88.
EASE OF USE
Having used a TomTom before, I found getting up and running with this new one a doddle. I've also tried out other Sat Nav's including ones built into cars but still find TomToms to be the most user-friendly (maybe I'm just used to it...
