Way to GO TomTom but...
Review of TomTom GO 510 by
Nick_Endeavour
Advantages: Screen Size, TMC, Bluetooth Hands free for Phone, Accessories
Disadvantages: Price, Extras at Price, Only GB and MRE, SD Card too Small, No Mp3 player facility
..., well bar the little star telling me that feature available only on 910. It is a bit discriminating to ask me to buy the 910 (preloaded with USA & Canada as well as the EU maps) rather than the 510 the GB and MRE which are just fine. (For the record the 710 has Western EU maps but you pay £100 extra). I have a big enough card now. Let me play my mp3s, let me show this off to grandma and display the silly Xmas pictures. What makes it frustrating is that TomTom has put 1 mp3 and 1 wma song there just to rub it your face alles " You should have given us more money to play this"…GRRRRRRR
Entering Destinations, Navigation
It is such a breeze entering a new destination. Just simply enter postcode or address which is quite simple and foolproof. It also recognizes full postcodes (well not on the map but as an add-on which is preinstalled...

You have reached your destination!!
Review of TomTom GO 710 by
oliridg
Advantages: Works right across europe
Disadvantages: Occasionally gets things wrong.
...I recently acquired the TomTom GO 710 from Halfords I paid approximately 300pounds in store. The box it came in was nice and compact it contained;1GB SD Card, Carry Case, Home Dock, Car Charger, Windscreen Dock, External Microphone, Quick Start Guide and the TomTom unit itself. The TomTom has a Lithium-Ion battery (4 hours operation) which enables the TomTom for lengthy use without charging though a car charger is included with the package. The dimensions: are 112x81x66 mm and it weighs: 300 grams so although it is light it is a little large to fir comfortably into most peoples pockets should you be walking with the navigation unit. Though it would fit into a large coat pocket or small bag. TomTom though have produced a handy accessory pouch which is in stores now at 30pounds for a leather one.
Once you have opened the box...

New 720T GPS unit from TomTom
Review of TomTom GO 720T by
Consumer56
Advantages: Small. compact good screen, fairly simple to use
Disadvantages: No electronic screen button to switch it off only hardware button
...With some trepidation as Ive dealt with TomTom in the early days I ordered up the Go 720T. Ive read a few negatives but Ive used the tomtom software for some years on my PDA (after they got it right) and so am familiar with it
The 720T arrived free overnight by 1pm from "The Link" for £256 and I set it up on my PC. It linked without problems via the Tomtom Home V2.1
The only item was the map update, it said I had the latest map 7.05 when in fact the website had 7.10 map. Ive emailed Tomtom so hope they will provide me with a link under their latest map guarantee.
The unit has worked well and Im pleased I made the purchase. The Traffic addition linked up but as yet I havent completed any long journeys to see if it kicks in.
Didnt come with a case (you need one) so I bought a blue nylon type one at £4.99 from EBay, (Lindens...

TomTom Go720T arrived 30th Nov 2007
Review of TomTom GO 720 by
Consumer56
Advantages: Simple to use, compact, good PC interface
Disadvantages: None I can think of so far, could have had a case I suppose
...Seen a few negatives ie.WOLFIE665 review below and past experience with Tomtom made me nervous, but my TomTom 720T arrived and with some trepidation I linked it to my PC to update and it was seamless, worked a treat.
Couldnt download the latest European map 7.10 as I had 7.5 under their "latest map guarantee" but hopefully Tomtom will sort me out.
Bought a carry case (you need one) from Lindens Ebay for £4.99 in blue. they have black, brillant and it arrived in a flash, cannot understand why someone would pay over £19 for a leather one as this is padded, perfect.
In the car all worked well, the windscreen holder some people criticise is fine, small neat and it works well, not half so bulky as the last one
Hands free phone system worked ok, as did the music through the speakers, ok you have to turn your radio up, but its...

Tomtom ONE a great low budget satnav
Review of TomTom ONE Local by
james23_uk
Advantages: Tomtom's unparelleled usability in a slim chassis at a bargain price
Disadvantages: Missing lots of great features of the new GO510, 710 and 910
...If you're looking for a cheap sat nav DO NOT buy anything other than this. Tomtoms are so easy to use it's easy to see how they have come to dominate the market and to buy any other brand could easily lead to disappointment.
The current Tomtom range includes the ONE at around £220, the GO 510 around £349, the GO 710 around £399 and the GO 910 around £499. (high street retail prices).
The ONE is the oldest of these but still offers an incredible sat nav experience in the slimist (albeit ugliest) chassis of the range. Very intuitive menu system and easy to read mapping in both 3D and 2D modes. Option to change maps to look like British maps (ie A roads are red, motorways blue and white etc). Clear easy to follow voice instructions are also available for those who want to concentrate on their driving.
Screen is much brighter than...

Men never ask directions.....
Review of TomTom GO 710 by
juliet_bravo
Advantages: helps anyone who (like me) would get lost in a paper bag
Disadvantages: costs money
...We decided to buy a GPS system when we bought our new car, a Mercedes ML, basically because my husband's friend has got a TomTom 510 and my husband wanted to better him. We chose the GO 710 purely because it was better than my hubby's friend and he could show off more- boys and their toys eh? My husband also has a pathological fear of asking directions- he once spent two hours driving around looking for Teeside aerodrome because he refused to ask for help.
So, the TomTom GO 710 is the middle product of the GO range, slightly better than the 510 but not as good (or expensive) as the 910.
Handsfree Bluetooth car kit comes as standard, meaning you can use handsfree calling immediately, sending and receiving calls by touching the screen. (I still don't trust myself even though handsfree calling is legal while driving- i usually just...

A Man, a Map, a Mac
Review of TomTom GO 710 by
simonchapman
Advantages: Apple Mac-friendly
Disadvantages: Too big for suit pockets
...Not too much detail but having hunted around for a sat-nav system which was compatible with my Apple Mac, I'm pleased to confirm that the TomTom Go 710 is a perfect match.
I did first take the precaution of first downloading the latest version of the Mac version of TomTom's Home software (unimaginatively named "maclatest" but remained apprehensive until I sat the TomTom in its Home dock and connected it to my G4 laptop via the USB cable provided. End of. Full functionality immediately.
The same base doubles as a home charger for when I want to run on battery power and I also had no problem with any part of the setup - although I was disappointed not to be able to key in my full home address as my house has a name rather than a street number.
Critical to me, the speed camera warnings and speed limit alerts worked out of the box...

TomTom One… It will change your life
Review of TomTom ONE Great Britain by
supreah
Advantages: Excellent navigation and GPS reception, portable, good value for money
Disadvantages: Poorly located charging indicator LED
...I don't know too much about in-car satellite navigation systems (satnavs, as they call them) and it's not that I have used a number of devices so that I can compare the pros and cons of one against the other. But, I am a very satisfied user of TomTom One and would definitely recommend it to any potential buyer. We bought the TomTom One about 4 months ago and to date, it hasn't given us a chance to regret our decision.
The TomTom One is one of the numerous entry-level satnavs in the market, but does not disappoint with its loads of features and reasonable price (We bought ours in Aug 2006 for £199). It has become very popular in the market. There are, of course, other companies which offer entry-level devices at a much lower price, but I can say from my and my friends' limited experience, TomTom devices are way ahead in terms...

TomTom To the Rescue
Review of TomTom GO 520 by
mynameisrui
Advantages: Easy to use, better than an A-Z
Disadvantages: Bit expensive, battery is not great
...After recently getting my brand spanking new TomTom 520 I thought I'd say a few words about how wonderful it is!
The TomTom brand of satellite navigation is probably the most popular satellite navigation system around. This is not to say it is the best one, merely the most popular. Within the TomTom range there are numerous models and the price ranges from about £130 - £400. Obviously the more you pay then the more features you will get. These may include things like different maps for the rest of the world or the ability to link it to your phone.
Satellite navigation systems are basically a tool that uses satellites to locate where you currently are and direct you to your destination by putting in the desired address. They use spoken voices to tell you when and where to turn and also how far from your turning you are...

Better than tomtom classic
Review of TomTom GO 300 by
SNOWY1976
Advantages: bluetooth conectivity, avoids tolls and motorways, postcode search
Disadvantages: highly nickable
...As you have probley guest this is my second review of the tomtom go satalite navigation system after owning the tomtom go classic for about a year I was foolish enough to leave mine in my car for five seconds as I popped into work not knowing that the light fingered brigade had spotted my beloved tomtom go classic through my blacked out privacy glass in my mg and before I knew it I had a broken drivers side window and my tomtom had gone.
After getting my car fixed and numerous interviews with the police I found out I had acouple of weeks insurance provided buy currys still valid so I got in touch with currys for a claim form which they rushed to me after sending it off I had to wait a couple of weeks for a reply . During those couple of weeks of waiting I realised that the tomtom was the best purchase I had ever made and I was lost...
