The Real Tomtom ONE V3 GB Review
Review of TomTom ONE XL United Kingdom & Republic of Ireland by
NickUK
Advantages: Great features, Price
Disadvantages: None - Maybe battery life, restricted internal memory
...to get one and they were out of my price range but in August 2007 V2 got a price cut and V3 entered the market cheaper than ever at around £140/150, or now a bargain at £132.00 as shown above. It was a little steep for me but because the features all seemed so worthwhile I had to get it.
Tomtom have kept choosing simple with all the features on the ONE being the same as the ONE XL (just has a bigger screen) and also you can get one with Europe maps and one with GB. So there are four straight versions, easy (minus the expensive tomtoms higher up the range which have features most of us wont use). The other advantage of picking a tomtom is that they are market leaders and they seem to look after there customers, offering easily accessible software upgrades for the unit, decent support and map updates.
So which one to choose the new V3...

Tom Tom one V3 Europe with TMC receiver - Good VFM
Review of TomTom ONE V3 Europe by
P_S_Price
Advantages: Price, Free traffic updates, slimline, Tom Tom one home
Disadvantages: Accuracy of TMC (not tom toms fault), Map problems,
...I Recently replace my Garmin Street pilot unit with a TOM TOM V3 Europe (Traffic edition). I mainly did this because I wanted a low cost traffic solution, and I was able to get this from Halfords for under £170.00 (at the time of purchase) It came complete with the TMC receiver module.
Another reason for choosing Tom Tom was how disappointed I was with my Garmin, and how much better my Wife's Tom Tom one original was compared to it.
The unit is small and light, and the TMC receiver stays in my car fixed on with suction pads. It has a touch screen, and the menu icons are quite large. However I have thick fingers and I find that the touch pad keyboard screen used for Post codes/addresses is too small and I often get letters/numbers that I havent touched.
The display screen is smaller than compared to many other units, but I have...

Six month ownership review - Sony V3 7.2mp Camera
Review of Sony Cyber-shot DSC-V3 by
alexpeck
Advantages: Excellent image quality and ease of use
Disadvantages: Size and weight
...photo.
A bonus is the fact the V3 accepts Compact Flash cards as well as the Sony memory sticks - I got a 1GB thrown in with my deal and of course they are now available up to 4GB, at prices much lower than that of the memory sticks! On the Compact flash cards the V3 can also save RAW image content - this is for the real professionals who want to save images without any compression, stick them in PhotoShop and play with the pictures! It is really useful, *but* the save time for a RAW file is around 5 seconds - it is a noticeable lag.
The metal casing is strong and sturdy - I have dropped mine once onto terracotta floor tiles (from waist height) and it only scrached a tiny section of paint off (no dints). If it had been a lesser camera (made of plastic) I'm sure I'd have been scraping circuitry off my shoe!
If you already have the V1...

Motorola V3 Black
Review of Motorola v3 Black by
craggybuk
Advantages: Slimline, Light, Ease of use
Disadvantages: Battery life, camera, memory
...I had this phone as a birthday present to replace my old monochrome Nokia. It would be unfair to compare the 2 as they are chalk and cheese as mobile technology has moved on greatly in the period between purchasing the 2 phones.
The v3 has all the features I required, namely mp3 ringtones, bluetooth and a camera. As I am not a heavy mobile phone user this was more than adequate for me.
The camera is only a standard VGA (256k) camera which, compared to the latest camera phones is way out of date, but in the year I've had the phone I'm probably only ever used the camera 2 or 3 times anyway, so for me this is not a problem. It has a 4 times zoom which does give you a bit of flexibility if you need to get that close up piccy.
The phone comes with a large selection of built in polyphonic ringtones, so of which are good, some...

TOMTOM or is it SCOTTSCOTT????
Review of TomTom ONE V3 Local by
tubster011
Advantages: Actually knows where its going!
Disadvantages: Not enough Memory space, and no expansion card slot
...Previous experience of sat-navs had led me to believe they were quite pants, Oh how I was wrong. Christmas was coming up and the present I felt that my father should buy my mother was this little number.
We Purchased the christmas cracker pack, which soon will not be available for obvious reasons.
And it topped up to a total of £119.99 (with £10 free TOMTOM Home goodies, voices, maps etc)
As soon as it reaches the car windscreen it knows what its doing, Unlike our previous PDA Sat Nav it finds and pin points exactly where you are in seconds, whereas the little PDA bless its little cotton socks got lost and confused time to time and started shouting irrelevant directions to us. TOMTOM however is clever, if you turn the wrong way seconds later it is directing you through an alternate route (Normally the more scenic and pretty route...

Tom Tom ? - Ding Dong ! . .
Review of TomTom ONE V3 Local by
smudgeybabes
Advantages: Just Brilliant.
Disadvantages: Price, risk of theft, otherwise none.
..., you just need to use a small amount of common sense.
You can add more POIs (Points of interest) just like you could with the older versions, these include everything from the location of all McDonalds to local hairdressers. An anti-theft idea is that you can only turn on your TomTom when you enter a 4 digit pin number, I admit I have not got round to this yet. I will keep you informed.
The V3 uses software which needs either the address or postcode. There is also an address book where you can go directly to "favourites" saving you time.
There are many more additional goodies in the new version, including the "Help" button, this asks you what you require & offers assistance, it gives basic first aid advice, provides routes to nearest hospital, gives information like phone numbers to pharmacies etc.
Also on offer is a "Where am I...

Way to GO TomTom but...
Review of TomTom GO 510 by
Nick_Endeavour
Advantages: Screen Size, TMC, Bluetooth Hands free for Phone, Accessories
Disadvantages: Price, Extras at Price, Only GB and MRE, SD Card too Small, No Mp3 player facility
..., well bar the little star telling me that feature available only on 910. It is a bit discriminating to ask me to buy the 910 (preloaded with USA & Canada as well as the EU maps) rather than the 510 the GB and MRE which are just fine. (For the record the 710 has Western EU maps but you pay £100 extra). I have a big enough card now. Let me play my mp3s, let me show this off to grandma and display the silly Xmas pictures. What makes it frustrating is that TomTom has put 1 mp3 and 1 wma song there just to rub it your face alles " You should have given us more money to play this"…GRRRRRRR
Entering Destinations, Navigation
It is such a breeze entering a new destination. Just simply enter postcode or address which is quite simple and foolproof. It also recognizes full postcodes (well not on the map but as an add-on which is preinstalled...

TomTom To the Rescue
Review of TomTom GO 520 by
mynameisrui
Advantages: Easy to use, better than an A-Z
Disadvantages: Bit expensive, battery is not great
...to turn onto a road and how far this road is, what exit to take on a roundabout or to keep to one side of the road as it breaks into two roads soon. All the instructions are also on the screen to help even more. The screen also includes how fast you are going and how long the journey will last and what time you are expected to arrive at your destination.
The TomTom 520 has a very good size screen with it measuring 4.3" which is also slightly bigger than the basic TomTom model. I wanted a bigger screen as I find it makes it that little bit easier to see where you need to be going. It also has the ability to link up to your mobile phone using Bluetooth and you can then use the TomTom to make calls and send and receive texts while you are driving. It is worth mentioning though that there are not many phones supported. My phone is technically...

TomTom Navigator 3 for Pocket PC
Review of TomTom Navigator by
charlie68
Advantages: Route Planning, Position, distance to next instruction
Disadvantages: Old Maps, POI Warnings require add-on
...I purchased TomTom Navigator along with my HP iPAQ 2210 about 10 months ago. I travel about 18000 miles a year and this product has been a great asset. It saves me having to make route notes and keep referring to road atlases. For town driving it is even better as road maps do not show all local roads. I initially purchased version 3.0 but have now upgraded to v3.03 (427). I use it with a wired GPS receiver which simply plugs into the cigarette lighter in the car.
In most cases you run the application and then bring up the Navigator Menu. You can then choose where you want to go; a recent location, an address, a favourite location or even a Point of Interest (more on these later). The address can be based on a post code or you can enter the town, street name etc yourself. Your ‘Home’ address can be saved as a key favourite place...

TomTom 910 The Market Leader
Review of TomTom GO 910 by
holdfast
Advantages: New Features. MP3 Player,Audio Books,Traffic Alert system and more
Disadvantages: None
...The TomTom 910.
Well this mere mortal is here again. Over the years I have owned 3 TomTom devices, the TomTom Classic, TomTom 500 and now the TomTom 910. Family members are benefiting from my cast-offs in a big way. So imagine my delight when visiting my local Halfords on the 3rd of May 2006 to purchase screen wash, I found myself being mysteriously drawn by an unknown force to the GPS display. I could feel my credit card trembling in fear, in a euphoric haze I purchased the said device. I left the store trembling in anticipation, achieved warp factor 7 and found myself at home opening the box.
OK so I had an idea, that they were about to introduce a new range with even more features than the last, but I did not realise that they were to appear so soon.
What's in the Box
TomTom Go 910
A change from the 300...
