...The TomTom Go 520 has a good size screen and is very easy to use. Its packed with features and my favourite is the bluetooth connection to your mobile, even allowing the extraction of numbers contained within your phone book (its handy to note you can duplicate your phone book onto the TomTom, meaning a back up of your phone contacts). When making a call the sound quality is pretty good. The navigation is easy to use and I have had no problem with GPS signal (unlike my previous sat nav). It identifies safety cameras and also alerts you if you are breaking the speed limit, however this feature is also the only drawback I have found. Occasionally it will get the speed limit you are in wrong (the other day I was on a dual carriage and it instead the speed limit was 30m.p.h.). Get up and Go with the Tomtom GO 500

Advantages: Easy to update, user friendly, full postcode search, bluetooth, hands free
Disadvantages: occasional 'dead' moments, occasional strange routes

TomTom To the Rescue

Advantages: Easy to use, better than an A-Z
Disadvantages: Bit expensive, battery is not great

...need to do is slide the TomTom on the mount by using what can only be described as a slot. The main reason you get satellite navigation is for directions so I'll talk about that first. Once you turn the machine on and your current position is found (which takes no more than about 15 seconds from pressing the on button to your position being found) then you need to put in your destination. This can either be done by putting in the postcode or manually finding the street. Once you do this the TomTom will calculate your route and confirm it to you. Once this is done then you are up and ready to go. It's as simple as that. As you travel it also gives out information via the speaker such as an upcoming turn or a speed camera ahead. Advantages: Great customisation features, big clear screen, easy to use

...believe you can attach headphones to it so not to attract attention to yourself with the spoken instructions! This versions of the TomTom includes the latest maps of the UK & Ireland. You can get some TomTom's which have maps of Europe in them, but as I'm not planning on road trip around Europe anytime soon I went for the UK & Ireland version. Another big factor on choosing this one was the fact that the Europe edition was £80 more expensive at the time & after checking just now I noticed they haven't changed in price as I presumed they would have done either. The TomTom Go 520 has a 4.3" touch screen, this is bigger than a lot of the competition brands of sat nav & one more reason I went for the TomTom. TomTom Go910 The best GPS on the market

Advantages: fast, accurate, great support, tons of worthwhile features
Disadvantages: bit ugly and bulky

...need for a separate hands free, this does it for you! Plus, it is clear and easy to use. Easy to set up as well. On the GPS front, it has never yet frozen on me (Navman did regularly), the unit runs for a good long time without needing to charge up (we did a trip of 400 miles without powering it over two days). It has a good sized hard drive which can store music, photographs (which it can show at start up or as an album), etc. There are perhaps more Points of Interest available for the TomTom than any other GPS out there. Everything from Hilton Hotels, B&Q, KFC to naughty underwear stores, car main dealers, petrol stations (including by make if you are particular) to every kind of attraction. Advantages: Great voice promts, fast route calculation, great user interface.....
Disadvantages: I honestly have not found any!

...When you get this device you will not want to go outside without it! This device offers fantastic speeds when calculating your route, far faster than other garmin rivals. Voice prompts are clear and audible. There are several different voices to be chosen and lots more to download. If you are used to driving in dual carriageways or motorways then one great new feature is the lane guidance system which gives you prompts of which lane to go into. Simple but brilliant. The screen is bright and colourful and the battery life of the device is great however it will be in the car most of the time so why not plug it in anyway. When you get lost and do not follow the allocated route the tomtom recalculates a new route within seconds by-itself. This saves endless time with a map. Way to GO TomTom but...

Advantages: Simple to use, compact, good PC interface
Disadvantages: None I can think of so far, could have had a case I suppose

...Seen a few negatives ie.WOLFIE665 review below and past experience with Tomtom made me nervous, but my TomTom 720T arrived and with some trepidation I linked it to my PC to update and it was seamless, worked a treat. Couldnt download the latest European map 7.10 as I had 7.5 under their "latest map guarantee" but hopefully Tomtom will sort me out. Bought a carry case (you need one) from Lindens Ebay for £4.99 in blue. they have black, brillant and it arrived in a flash, cannot understand why someone would pay over £19 for a leather one as this is padded, perfect.
