TomTom Wireless GPS Receiver 20 channel GPS receiver module

...I dont have a 20 channel receiver however I do have a 12 channel receiver which came in the box with my Tom Tom Navigator 5 for PDA, whichi I use in my Treo 680 Smart Phone. The whole thing works perfectly and I couldn't ask for more as Sat Nav goes. The GPS receiver looks identical to the 20 channel one shown here and if this one works as well as mine does then you can't go wrong. It has a matt cover which makes it stay put where ever you place it on the dashboard and in use I've found that it picks up a signal very quickly and once linked to the PDA by bluetooth it keeps the signal so long as it can see just a tiny bit of sky. Once linked I take the unit off the dash and place it on the floor of the car in between the seats and it keeps the signal through motorway tunnels and even during a traffice halt under a bridge! Advantages: Easy to Use, Cheap with All the Functions you really Need
Disadvantages: Being Told to Keep Right on Motorways. Can be Distracting.

The best GPS receiver I have seen yet!

Advantages: Tiny, appealling, accurate, powerful and desirable.
Disadvantages: Rubber cover for DC power supply breaks off easily.

This had given me a couple of serious 'downers' about GPS, which nearly prevented me buying GPS again. Firstly, my old device was unable to hold and lock onto a signal through my heated front car windscreen, meaning that I'd had to buy a re-radiating antenna. Secondly, the device was next to useless for walking or hiking, because it kept disconnecting from the iPAQ. OK, that?s just my stupidity, but after replacing my unit I decided that to ensure it was easy to carry around and would act as a subtle reminder I would buy a carry case. A Sat Nav to give Tomtom a run for it's money!

...satnav's my initial reaction was "Yeah right" as the routing still tries to send you down poky little lanes. To my amazement, the routing for lorries on the U-92 does seem to have had some serious thought put into it. With the very - very odd exception, the route calculated by the U-92 for lorries may not be the shortest but is 99.5% the most appropriate. What is even more surprising is that the ETA displayed with this setting appears to have taken into account the lower speed restrictions for HGV's and is 99.9% of the time, accurate to within 4-5 minutes. The TomTom was recommended to me by several people but I wentmy own way and bought the Navman 720. I like the looks of it and the inbuilt camera. I had nothing but problems. In the end, the company I bought it from offered me the pick of the GPS systems they sold - after much research I chose the 910. Whereas the Navman would take upto 3 or 4 minutes to get a full signal where we live, the 910 picks up its signal within a minute. It's ability to say road numbers and street names is very useful but using this means you can't use te many available celebrity voices.
