V1 (Tomtom, not Doodlebug) LATEST! . .
Review of TomTom ONE Great Britain by
smudgeybabes
Advantages: No setting up, plug & play.
Disadvantages: None.
...is that the simple instructions and pictograms are enough for anyone to get it to work. It will work without any hassle lying on the passenger seat, although after a couple of hours the battery will let you down, so a charging lead (included in the box) will have to be plugged into the cigarette lighter socket.
The mounting kit, is very secure, although a little obvious for my liking, and these are becoming an easy target for thieves. In my car, I have fashioned a little bracket, below the instruments, easy for me to see, but not the passer-by. Also, when I leave a vehicle, I simply pop the unit into my pocket, it is small enough, the new version slips into even smaller pockets. TomTom recommend that you do not leave the mounting kit stuck to the windscreen overnight, as it may lose suction, I agree with them but more for a theft prevention reasons...

Review of TomTom GO 910 by
holdfast
Advantages: New Features. MP3 Player,Audio Books,Traffic Alert system and more
Disadvantages: None
...(for MP3 Player), External Microphone Connector, External Antenna Connector, and Power Connector. I have my own views on this mount, I will explain at the end of this review.
Home Dock
This has a Home Charger Connector and a USB connector. So plug it into your home PC, with the new firmware (CD included in the box) you can easily update, plan routes and charge the unit all at the same time.
Car Charger.
Cig lighter to mount, turn on ignition and the unit starts up.
Home Charger.
As mentioned in Home Dock above.
Product Code Card
This has the product codes for the maps that are pre-installed on the unit, as a recent security measure, you can only down load maps, extra voices etc to the unit that is registered with TomTom via the web-site.
External Microphone.
This allows you to locate the mic for better comms when using...

TomTom To the Rescue
Review of TomTom GO 520 by
mynameisrui
Advantages: Easy to use, better than an A-Z
Disadvantages: Bit expensive, battery is not great
.... It is basically like having a brilliant navigator sitting next to you!
The TomTom I got costs around £180 and only has the UK and Ireland maps so if you were to want to use it abroad then you would need to either buy a different model or buy the maps from the shop although I'm not sure how much it would cost. It does obviously have other features which I will come onto a bit later on. Inside the box is the TomTom, a car charger, installation CD, manual, cradle and window mount to stick it onto your car window. To get it up and running is very simple; plug in the charger to your cigarette lighter and the other end into the TomTom, clip the TomTom into the mount, and stick the mount onto the window using the sucker that is attached. Apparently older TomTom models used to be a bit of a pain to get the TomTom onto the mount but on the one I got all you...

TomTom One… It will change your life
Review of TomTom ONE Great Britain by
supreah
Advantages: Excellent navigation and GPS reception, portable, good value for money
Disadvantages: Poorly located charging indicator LED
...you can select. You can even pinpoint to a specific house number in a particular postcode area.
Disadvantages
*****************
Some of the few disadvantages of the TomTom One are:
The charging indicator LED is placed at the top of the device making it difficult to see whether the device is being charged properly.
The charging cable has to be plugged in from the bottom of the device (unlike some of its predecessors) where there are a host of other connections possible as well, including the headphone. This makes it a bit difficult to plug in the charging cable when the device has been mounted onto its cradle.
The cradle itself is a bit hard to stick onto the windscreen. It takes some effort to turn the lever which secures the cradle onto the windscreen.
The software that comes along with the TomTom...

Have TomTom will travel!
Review of TomTom ONE Local by
kwildchild
Advantages: Compact, neat and gets you where you want to go
Disadvantages: Don't use Shortest route on long journeys
...So there I was with a trip to Leicester from North Wales, so I visited a website to get a route map, OH NO! How confusing, so I bought myself the new TomTom One Local from my local Currys for only £199.98.
After getting the TomTom home and unpacking it I couldn't believe how compact the new model was compared to the older models that I had used in the past the new TomTom One is about 2.8cms deep, 9.5cms wide and 8cms high.
In the box you get the SD card with the UK map on it as well as a CD with TomTom Home, which I will mention Later, the in-car charger, cable for plugging the TomTom into your PC, windscreen mount, registration card and the manual that you need to get the TomTom running.
First of all the manual is right down to the basics of using the TomTom and explains how to enter an address and the TomTom will work out...

Let's Go!
Review of Tomtom GO Navigation by
gregslater84
Advantages: Very easy to use, great value for money!
Disadvantages: None I can think of!
...charge up the internal battery, which will enable the unit to be used for up to 5 hours without a power supply. The mains power transformer comes with 2-pin and Shuko plug adaptors to allow you to charge the unit in other European countries.
The next thing you need to do is attach the sturdy windscreen mount to your windscreen. This mount attatches to the windscreen using a strong suction cup with a lever to increase the force on it - which makes it even stronger. A handy lip is provided for easy removal. The mount will hold the TomTom Go securely and is fully adjustable to give you the best view and operating angle of the clear and bright touch-screen. The TomTom can be switched to night mode at night, which features a different colour scheme and lower brightness level to stop distracting you while you're driving. The TomTom unit itself...

Way to GO TomTom but...
Review of TomTom GO 510 by
Nick_Endeavour
Advantages: Screen Size, TMC, Bluetooth Hands free for Phone, Accessories
Disadvantages: Price, Extras at Price, Only GB and MRE, SD Card too Small, No Mp3 player facility
...) and a simple touch you are on your way with a variety of voices (always if you have the right size card otherwise you are stuck with 2 at its very maximum).
I love its directions; I love the daylight/night settings so it doesn't dazzle you. The speaker is strong loud and clear. The microphone is top quality but use with the add-on external as it makes it even better. I love this if only for the handsfree kit that will keep me legal at least.
It guides you clear with very few moments of confusion and give the instructions well in advance. Just a word of advice that might sound daft but it happens. Keep the eyes on the road. It is an assistant on a foolproof autopilot. Use common sense and tell your tomtom to shut up now and again just like you would tell to your mate that thinks he knows the way to the Football ground.
I have though to rant...

This is your TomTom speaking ...
Review of TomTom GO 300 by
Geldoff
Advantages: Safer driving and you'll never get lost.
Disadvantages: Seems a little pricey at first.
...are coming up so that you can avoid the sudden braking of the cars in front!
Also the TomTom Go 300's big brothers, the 500 and the 700, are equipped with Bluetooth technology to download weather forecasts and traffic updates through your (Bluetooth enabled) mobile phone and can be used as a hands-free kit. The TomTom can be programmed to avoid traffic congestion or weather events like Michael Fish.
: : : Where can I buy one and what will it cost? : : :
The TomTom Go is widely available from a large number of number of outlets including Curry's, Dixons, Comet, Maplin, Amazon and Halfords.
Expect to pay about £370 including VAT although beware of some outlets that advertise it more cheaply but exclude the VAT.
: : : Conclusion : : :
Is the TomTom Go 300 worth having? Yes. It seemed expensive when I first looked...

The Real Tomtom ONE V3 GB Review
Review of TomTom ONE XL United Kingdom & Republic of Ireland by
NickUK
Advantages: Great features, Price
Disadvantages: None - Maybe battery life, restricted internal memory
...had used the Navman F20 which is now quite cheap to buy at <£120 and I was also looking at the Acer v200 at <£120. I liked using the Navman but it lacked key features such as map scrolling, road block and itinerary planning which made it very annoying to use and somewhat useless. The other Navmans were too expensive for me so they were out. Garmins Nuvi seemed so confusing to pin down what version did what and what was new and what was out of date I gave up on them when its obvious that the tomtom v3 was a new bit of kit. The Acer got good reviews and had map scroll but no speed cameras built in or itinerary planning or roadblock features, I think. Also there future maps releases and customer support could be questionable as they are new to the Sat Nav market.
So I looked towards Tomtom, previously I thought it would be so cliché...
