TomTom Wireless GPS Receiver 20 channel GPS receiver module

...I dont have a 20 channel receiver however I do have a 12 channel receiver which came in the box with my Tom Tom Navigator 5 for PDA, whichi I use in my Treo 680 Smart Phone. The whole thing works perfectly and I couldn't ask for more as Sat Nav goes. The GPS receiver looks identical to the 20 channel one shown here and if this one works as well as mine does then you can't go wrong. It has a matt cover which makes it stay put where ever you place it on the dashboard and in use I've found that it picks up a signal very quickly and once linked to the PDA by bluetooth it keeps the signal so long as it can see just a tiny bit of sky. Once linked I take the unit off the dash and place it on the floor of the car in between the seats and it keeps the signal through motorway tunnels and even during a traffice halt under a bridge! TomTom Go 300

Fantastic Navigation with TomTom 920T

Advantages: fm transmssion, bluetooth with remote, voice recognition, music player and image viewer
Disadvantages: No maps for the whole world, no maps for sea navigation.

Very impressed with Tom Tom Go

.... At one stage, when I was in Reading City Centre, I did lose satelite lock for a minute or so. This can apparently happen in built-up areas. I guess that the optional external antenna might have helped to retain the signal for a bit longer. This option is also recommended for any cars that have metalic reflective glass installed. As soon as I moved out of the built-up area, we regained lock very quickly and normal service was resumed. You can add Favourite locations onto the unit (again either by address or by current GPS location) This makes navigation from point to point very straightforward. I did connect the unit to my PC and under Windows XP it was immediately recognised as a mass storage device and I was able to copy some Point of Interest (POI) databases from the Internet onto the unit. TomTom really have the market sussed

Advantages: Great customisation features, big clear screen, easy to use
Disadvantages: Battery life, no wall charger included

...believe you can attach headphones to it so not to attract attention to yourself with the spoken instructions! This versions of the TomTom includes the latest maps of the UK & Ireland. You can get some TomTom's which have maps of Europe in them, but as I'm not planning on road trip around Europe anytime soon I went for the UK & Ireland version. Another big factor on choosing this one was the fact that the Europe edition was £80 more expensive at the time & after checking just now I noticed they haven't changed in price as I presumed they would have done either. The TomTom Go 520 has a 4.3" touch screen, this is bigger than a lot of the competition brands of sat nav & one more reason I went for the TomTom. ...I'll be completely honest with you, I really can't praise this product enough, TomTom seem to have come up with a little cracker! I don't actually own one of these units, but I do work in a shop that sells them, so I can pass on my experience and opinions to you. The TomTom Go (in case you haven't read the description, or don't really know what it is) is a self contained in-car satellite navigation system. In my opinion it beats all the other currently available solutions hands down, simply due to it's style, ease of use and value for money. After taking the TomTom Go out of the box you will need to power it.
