TomTom - slow, large but still simple BEST
Review of TomTom Navigator 6 Maps of Western Europe GPS software by
hauran
Advantages: great controlled
Disadvantages: slow planning
...I use TomTom Navigator 6 with my mobile phone - MDA. I have also tested nearly all other software for navigation so i will try to compare.
TomTom has the best menu navigation - it has only 5 items menu so it is possible to browse in menus when you are driving even if you have got a small display on your PDA. The menus are simple and it is very easy to adjust something very fast. Maps for TomTom are made not by countries as it is normally done by the others but by packs of countries so you dont need to switch maps so often. On the other hand if you choose igo2006 for example you can have all the maps at once and then no need to switch anything - there brings TomTom some difficulties when you are passing borders between two map sectors. One more thing that is not a plus for TomTom is the space required for maps. The other software has got...

Tomtom one V2 Europe
Review of TomTom ONE V2 Europe Navteq by
ace198
Advantages: Full street level maps of europe
Disadvantages: None so far!
...Easily the best Low price GPS on the market.
It's small, lightweight, easy to use and doubles up as a bluetooth hands free.
Aswell as having customisable voices, an updated speed camera database, thousands of POS's (Points of intrests) it can even avoid traffic jams iether through the Tomtom plus services which work through a bluetooth connection to your bluetooth enabled mobile phone or through a traffic ariel attachment.
It's quick and easy to remove from your car and small enough and light enough to carry in your pocket.
You can even easily move it between cars using an extra mount saving you from having to unplug everything and re attach the suction cup.
You don't have to worry about the device loosing suction and falling to the floor of your car when you go over a bump because the suction cup is tough enough to support me...

Review of TomTom Map of Western Europe Maps by
smudgeybabes
Advantages: Simple
Disadvantages: Has to be bought.
......
The map of Western Europe comes as a DVD which you download to your Tomtom, this is done using the free programme called Tomtom home. You then are able to use your Tomtom one, Tomtom Rider, or any of the Tomtom Go series in Europe. The map in this review is version 6.5, this is the latest version out, and is pretty much up to date.
Contents - In the box you will find, the latest version 6.5 software on DVD, containing very detailed instructions, voice prompt files and Tomtom home, also in the box are the warranty leaflet, (the warranty is for one year) a simple installation poster, and the product code card (you will need to go online to activate this, see www.ttcode.com)
Type of format - as stated the DVD is put into your PC, which in turn is downloaded to the Tomtom. There are some nice & easy to see graphics, and the colours...

TomTom Does It Again
Review of TomTom GO 720T GPS receiver by
Surj1
Advantages: VRT (Voice Recognition Technology), 4.3 inch widescreen & Sleek Design
Disadvantages: None
...TomTom is a trustworthy name when it comes to GPS units. I recently bought this and loved it. The TomTom GO 720T is an updated version of the GO 510 which was an amazing GPS unit itself.
The TomTom GO 720T has a comfortable 4.3 inch widescreen and this unit is one of the first GPS systems to have VRT (Voice Recognition Technology). The system records your voice and gives you an answer to your vocal question of your chosen route. You can ask the TomTom to work out your route from point A to B by simply using your voice. The TomTom allows you to choose from a number of pre set voices to guide you through your journey or even your own voice.
The TomTom GO 720T has a new never seen before graphics interface. The look of the maps is sleek and the buildings are in more detail. Set in the TomTom's memory is a list of speed cameras...

You have reached your destination!!
Review of TomTom GO 710 by
oliridg
Advantages: Works right across europe
Disadvantages: Occasionally gets things wrong.
...I recently acquired the TomTom GO 710 from Halfords I paid approximately 300pounds in store. The box it came in was nice and compact it contained;1GB SD Card, Carry Case, Home Dock, Car Charger, Windscreen Dock, External Microphone, Quick Start Guide and the TomTom unit itself. The TomTom has a Lithium-Ion battery (4 hours operation) which enables the TomTom for lengthy use without charging though a car charger is included with the package. The dimensions: are 112x81x66 mm and it weighs: 300 grams so although it is light it is a little large to fir comfortably into most peoples pockets should you be walking with the navigation unit. Though it would fit into a large coat pocket or small bag. TomTom though have produced a handy accessory pouch which is in stores now at 30pounds for a leather one.
Once you have opened the box and turned...

Review of TomTom ONE V3 Europe by
ParkinK02
Advantages: maps are very up to date
Disadvantages: battery dies pretty fast
...I only started driving this year and my sense of direction is poor to put it lightly so I bought a TomTom, I chose the Europe version as the company I work for are based everywhere and it wasn't much more than the standard version.
I have been very pleasantly surprised with how accurate the maps are. I thought that obviously all the road maps would be there but I live in an area with tiny little back alleys and short-cuts and TomTom knows them all, and they're all kept up to date too, a new speed camera was fitted and it knew before I did!
You have to make sure you keep it regularly updated using the software provided but as long as you do you shouldn't have any problems at all.
There's a lot of personable features from the colour of the maps, start-up images, voices etc. but I prefer the factory settings so I don't get distracted...

Bonjour, turn left, etc.
Review of TomTom GO Maps of Western Europe Maps by
gregslater84
Advantages: Great coverage of Europe for people who own the TomTom Go
Disadvantages: Usually need to purchase additional memory
...Owners of the TomTom Go in-car GPS navigation system will be used to it's sleek design, ease of use, and variety of useful features. The TomTom Go comes with Major Roads of Europe already installed on the memory card included in the box. However, if you'd like to navigate Europe at street level, you'll need to purchase the Maps of Western Europe package for an additional price - usually just over £100.
This package comes with all of the street level maps for Western Europe including France, Spain and Germany on 4 CD-ROMs. These maps can be transferred onto SD (Secure Digital) memory cards for use with the TomTom Go Navigator via your home computer. The SD card that comes with the unit can be used, but you'll obviously need to remove the maps of the UK before you upload the European ones.
Each map can either be uploaded in full...

TomTom Western Europe, let Jane take the strain.
Review of TomTom Map of Western Europe Maps by
paulhanton
Advantages: Stress free travelling, comprehensive, clear instructions, cheap
Disadvantages: Some very minor glitches in confusing bends with turns
...I recently reviewed the TomTom one, which we bought with the Western Europe maps, and I have been waiting to put Jane (our name, after the voice) through her paces in rural France.
As with all TomTom maps, easy to see, easy to use, easy to understand, and easy to update.
Absolutely fantastic, I have no idea how we ever coped without her/it. From getting off the ferry, the map/navigation was spot on, good clear instructions, in plenty of time, and the first time I have ever got through Paris without a hitch.
To give you an idea of how good, we bought a local map of where we were going on the Limousin/Perigord borders, that did not have the town we were staying in (I call it a town loosely) as it was so small, no problem for TomTom, straight there, which was welcome after 7 hours of driving.
We spent two weeks in the area and each day...

Let's Go!
Review of Tomtom GO Navigation by
gregslater84
Advantages: Very easy to use, great value for money!
Disadvantages: None I can think of!
...I'll be completely honest with you, I really can't praise this product enough, TomTom seem to have come up with a little cracker! I don't actually own one of these units, but I do work in a shop that sells them, so I can pass on my experience and opinions to you.
The TomTom Go (in case you haven't read the description, or don't really know what it is) is a self contained in-car satellite navigation system. In my opinion it beats all the other currently available solutions hands down, simply due to it's style, ease of use and value for money.
After taking the TomTom Go out of the box you will need to power it. The TomTom can either be powered through the mains using the supplied mains transformer, or using your car's cigarette lighter socket and the supplied cable. While you power the unit using either of these methods it will also...

1.Assemble the suction mount cradle which is so simple just a couple of turns of a screw and its done
