...On buying my Tomtom one i was very excited and also a little disapointed with the size of the box, i purchased a TomTom one v4 europe with traffic updates. The set up was very simple no CD to mess about with and put in my "Man Draw" never to be seen again all the software for your pc is on the unit itself just plug the usb lead in and away you go. The new easy mount part is truly rubbish you click the unit into it and unless you get this right it will pop out, now bearing in ming you will be doing this on a windscreen of a car and if you have a car like mine a Ford Galaxy the windscreen is a mile away and proved fiddley to mount correctly also the USB leas from the charger just doesnt want to go in the hole so you have to take it off again and plug it in then try and snap the unit back into its mount fine on a nice cool day but not...

Advantages: It's a TomTom. Easy to use. Does what it's made to do. Good value.

...I recently purchased the new TomTom Europe 22 from Halfords. I was originally going to buy the V3 of the TomTom Europe as the price is genuinley lower than the new one is. I'll get to that now. I actually, did, buy the V3 model first. When I did and went to set it up in the car I noticed the windscreen suction piece wasn't in the box and to top that, the actual sat nav seemed 2nd hand. Scratches - deep scratches - all over the sat nav. So I boxed it all back up and went back into Halfords. Served by the same person - baring in mind, it's the assistant manager. I told her the situation and that I wasn't pleased. She said, "I must of forgotten to tell you the sat nav I sold you was originally a display model". Why did I buy it in the first place - that bit is easy, I travel a lot in a new job and to towns I would have never heard of before - on top of that I had some fantastic inside information that I will share with you. Versatile Road Cat - Tomtom XL Europe.

Advantages: fast, upgradeable, reliable, robust, costumisable, portable and much more
Disadvantages: confuses speeds at times, battery power loss while switched off

...knowing what I know now, after all it as accurate more than 95% of the time and when it is not it does get me close enough to figure location out, auto corrects if I make a trajectory error and is quite fast at doing this, very versatile and always up to date with all the updates, shame that some things that should be relatively cheap TomTom wants to charge a fortune...anyway that another subject not the devices fault lol. hope this helps you guys make your mind up ...BUY IT you won't regret it ...but be aware is not perfect ...most things are not perfect anyway....just put John Clees voice and you'll be happy PLEASE if you took the time to read, spend one ,more second and rate it....

...The Tom Tom ONE XL Europe is one of the easiest car navigation devices to use. It is mostly self explainatry but if you are unsure how to use it, the manual is very specific and very easy to understand. In my opinion the actual software that is installed on it is excellent. When driving, it is easy to follow all of the instruction that are being said by the automated voice. The one concern with this product is the very short battery life and sometimes, when it has been previously been connected to the computer to install updates, the system gets stuck and freezes. It has to be reset for it to function properly again and then it takes up to ten minutes!! There are many options that you can choose when planning your route so you drive the route that is most suitable for you. Other than the one disadvantage, it is a very good car navigation...

Advantages: Easy to Use, Cheap with All the Functions you really Need
Disadvantages: Being Told to Keep Right on Motorways. Can be Distracting.

...Great little unit. This piece of kit is a lifesaver. Not only can it help you with directions but I'm sure it will save more marriages than coucilling. No more arguing over poor directions or where to go. The system has many useful functions. 1. Basic GPS - To get from A to B. This can be via postcode, location name etc. Generally very good just get to the area you know and let the TomTom take you from their. See downside point 2. 2. Points of interest - Can include anything from restuarants & cinenas to your local funeral dirctor - Many free sites to download from. 3. Speed camera details. 4. Speedo - My 2002 Mondeo underclocks by about 10% and I've only just noticed so I can now get everywhere 10% quicker without worrying about speeding - This is Great news. 5. Updates from TomTom webside including map corections...

The RRP is a whopping £19.99, although it is good quality, I suspect it is not actually worth this, and you can buy cheaper on the t'internet. . You have several other cheaper alternatives, you could go for a non brand name, or you could support your local charity shop and buy an old camera case - I am perfectly serious, you would have more choice of styles and colours, and you girls could co-ordinate your outfit with a choice of "designer" named camera cases. OR you could buy one from Tomtom, using vouchers. These are given away free with Tomtoms, and can be used to purchase any accessory, including cases. You will find that most vouchers are thrown away, or appear on ebay for 99p, most not even getting a single bid, so...

TomTom Western Europe, let Jane take the strain.

Advantages: Stress free travelling, comprehensive, clear instructions, cheap

...I recently reviewed the TomTom one, which we bought with the Western Europe maps, and I have been waiting to put Jane (our name, after the voice) through her paces in rural France. As with all TomTom maps, easy to see, easy to use, easy to understand, and easy to update. Absolutely fantastic, I have no idea how we ever coped without her/it. From getting off the ferry, the map/navigation was spot on, good clear instructions, in plenty of time, and the first time I have ever got through Paris without a hitch. To give you an idea of how good, we bought a local map of where we were going on the Limousin/Perigord borders, that did not have the town we were staying in (I call it a town loosely) as it was so small, no problem for TomTom, straight there, which was welcome after 7 hours of driving. ...I Recently replace my Garmin Street pilot unit with a TOM TOM V3 Europe (Traffic edition). I mainly did this because I wanted a low cost traffic solution, and I was able to get this from Halfords for under £170.00 (at the time of purchase) It came complete with the TMC receiver module. Another reason for choosing Tom Tom was how disappointed I was with my Garmin, and how much better my Wife's Tom Tom one original was compared to it. The unit is small and light, and the TMC receiver stays in my car fixed on with suction pads. It has a touch screen, and the menu icons are quite large.
