...TomTom Map of the USA and Canada Maps TomTom Maps are a 2gb SD card with route maps stored on them that are made to work with the TomTom satellite navigation system. They originally come with UK/Europe maps so these are a brilliant upgrade if you are considering taking your car abroad or hiring a car and driving over there. These are a lot easier than using a standard map when you are visiting another country and make getting around easy. We have just bought one of these as we are planning a trip to the USA and decided one of these would be useful. I have never been abroad so certainly wont know my way around. It was very easy to install onto the TomTom. We also decided the points of interest feature would be really useful as we use the UK based one on our current maps a lot. TOMTOM one great while it worked

Advantages: quick and easy to set up ,fast GPS pick up
Disadvantages: breaks way too easily

...they would sell me a reconditioned unit for £20 morethan i brought the original one for. Sorry TomTom its back to a map for me and i have a £150 paper weight now...

...The map of Western Europe comes as a DVD which you download to your Tomtom, this is done using the free programme called Tomtom home. You then are able to use your Tomtom one, Tomtom Rider, or any of the Tomtom Go series in Europe. The map in this review is version 6.5, this is the latest version out, and is pretty much up to date. Contents - In the box you will find, the latest version 6.5 software on DVD, containing very detailed instructions, voice prompt files and Tomtom home, also in the box are the warranty leaflet, (the warranty is for one year) a simple installation poster, and the product code card (you will need to go online to activate this, see www.ttcode.com) Type of format - as stated the DVD is put into your PC, which in turn is downloaded to the Tomtom.There are some nice & easy to see graphics...

TOMTOM UK MAPS Re-written . .

Advantages: Easy to keep with TOMTOM at all times.
Disadvantages: Easy to lose if not in safe stowage.

...After using this product myself for nine months now, I feel I am qualified to write this report. These maps are very easy to load into the Tomtom, (they load in a few moments) easy to use, show just about everything you need to navigate with ease There are some very easy to see graphics, and the colours are just about right for all light conditions. The display is very clear, and unaffected by sunlight. It is easy to see in all conditions. The price does appear a little on the high side at the moment, however, I suspect it will drop as soon as it starts selling like "hot cakes" as I am sure it will do very soon. The only fault I can think of, is the ease of losing it, due to the size, however, I find that used film containers are perfect for things like this. The blank cards are cheap enough to buy...

TomTom Western Europe, let Jane take the strain.

Advantages: Stress free travelling, comprehensive, clear instructions, cheap
Disadvantages: Some very minor glitches in confusing bends with turns

...I recently reviewed the TomTom one, which we bought with the Western Europe maps, and I have been waiting to put Jane (our name, after the voice) through her paces in rural France. As with all TomTom maps, easy to see, easy to use, easy to understand, and easy to update. Absolutely fantastic, I have no idea how we ever coped without her/it. From getting off the ferry, the map/navigation was spot on, good clear instructions, in plenty of time, and the first time I have ever got through Paris without a hitch. To give you an idea of how good, we bought a local map of where we were going on the Limousin/Perigord borders, that did not have the town we were staying in (I call it a town loosely) as it was so small, no problem for TomTom, straight there, which was welcome after 7 hours of driving. We spent two weeks in the area...

The only ONE you'll need!

Advantages: Signal strength is excellent; Price; Look; Ease of use
Disadvantages: Might be hard to operate with large fingers; can be dangerous to use whilst driving

...- I've seen some around £50 - but I do believe you get what you pay for, and as I only wanted a Sat Nav with UK maps on it (TomTom ONE Classic comes with Republic of Ireland maps too), it was a great price. You can get Sat Nav's with Europe maps too, but as my parents have one of these, I'd be able to borrow their Sat Nav when I drive abroad! IN THE BOX, AND THE TOMTOM'S APPEARANCE Included in the box were: * The Sat Nav * Car Charger * Instructions * USB Charger The best thing about the TomTom ONE Classic is the fact you can connect it up to your laptop/PC to charge it. Before, I could only charge my old Sat Nav via my car's cigarette lighter, but thanks to the USB cable, you can now charge it via your PC. To be honest though, I've only ever done this once! I think it's slightly easier to charge it whilst you're driving...

TomTom One XL. It just Exels!

...I bought my TomTom for a ski trip in Vermont, so I have the US and Canada maps loaded. When I got the unit, I followed the instructions (rare for me!) and loaded the included software ("TomTom Home") on my computer. This was a simple procedure and worked without hitch. I then connected the Tomtom with its included USB cable (which usefully charges the battery from the computer) and the software suggested that I take a backup of the TomTom memory. So I followed the instructions and did it. It takes about half an hour - be warned - but seemed to work OK. Then I went to the online TomTom support site and it suggested an upgrade of the "TomTom Home" computer software. I did that too. I would suggest that any new users just go to the website and get the latest software from there rather than installing from CD then having to upgrade...

A package of maps worth having

...Having used a Tom Tom Go 700 for a number of years, I decided to update the maps of Western Europe. Tom Tom uses software called Tom Tom Home which is used to download the updated maps. Having connected Tom Tom Go 700 to my PC, via a USB cable, it was a simple matter of clicling on the relevant icon on the Home Software, paying for the maps, and downloading them over the internet. Payment was straight forward. It is undertaken electronically either by credit or debit card, and the down load commenced. Because of the size of the map file, it took a little time to download (I do have broadband running at 8mb band width, so I suppose a lesser bandwith will take longer. Use of the system is simplicity itself. You are given a choice of country, and then you select address, or point of interest....
