The Real Tomtom ONE V3 GB Review
Review of TomTom ONE XL United Kingdom & Republic of Ireland by
NickUK
Advantages: Great features, Price
Disadvantages: None - Maybe battery life, restricted internal memory
.... Maybe tomtom will re enable it in the future.
For those people worried about how to change between maps because they previously just switch SD cards, this is now done on the preferences screen under manage maps. Just select a different map if you have one and it loads straight up in 3 seconds.
On a general note the tomtom is a great piece of kit it gets a satellite lock within 10 seconds most of the time here in West Sussex, thanks to its new clever predictive satellite positioning system that allows you to upload the satellite positions for the next 7 days off the website automatically for free. It also works in my house most of the time, which the Navman F20 never did so I wouldn't worry about that antenna ext on the V2 because this thing never has signal problems. Speaker is fine; speed related volume is another feature...

TomTom One - Great Britain & Republic of Ireland
Review of TomTom ONE Great Britain by
acno1
Advantages: Cheap, Easy to use, aesthetically pleasing
Disadvantages: Poor battery life, the odd glitch in the directions
...I was a little wary about buying a satnav system as you hear the stories about them leading you off into the middle of a field or lake, but I had nothing to worry about with the TomTom One. It's light, compact, cheap and cheerful. The touchscreen interface is extremely easy to use when programming your destination, either by city name, street address or postcode. Other useful features would be the Points of Interest search, which finds useful things like banks, airports, garages and hotels near your destination or location. You can also subscribe to a roadworks and speed camera service which lets you know if there are either on your journey (you get a months free trial of these services). On the flipside though, the battery life is poor, but you do get an in car charger which plugs into the cars fag lighter, as well as a usb charger...

TomTom Number ONE
Review of TomTom ONE Great Britain by
lizzie1963
Advantages: Easy to use, Lots of options
Disadvantages: None as yet
...I got the TOMTOM One from halfords for £179.99, although I am sure there would be a better deal on the net, I haven't been driving for long and hate not knowing how to get where I need to be. I picked a TOMTOM navigator because I had more about them and they were said to be one of the best and very reliable. I have only had it for a couple of weeks and it didn't take long to figure out how to use, its an absolute lifesaver for someone who has no sense of direction (like me!!). Definitely a great price from a well known satellite navigation system manufacturer.
* SOME USEFUL INFO *
The size of the system is 96mm x 82mm x 25mm.
It weighs around 174 grams.
It has a 3.5 inch TFT colour LCD touchscreen that is 220 x 240 pixels and has 64.000 colours.
It has a siRFStarIII chipset.
32MB RAM
Bluetooth 2.0

TomTom is Number ONE
Review of TomTom ONE V2 Regional Great Britain by
1st2thebar
Advantages: reliability easy to use
Disadvantages: large software files
...-----------------------------------------------
The TomTom ONE V2 is the only brand worthy Sat Nav system that uses savvy technology with a slick and compact interface that deals with all your landmark requests, roadmaps, voice settings, easy navigation on the 3X3 inch monitor. It comes with car plugs and software accessories. If you said 2 years ago I would have this little bit of Sav Nav revolution in my car I would of laughed. "Mr T, telling me where to go.... your telling a porkie!! " Yeah, the software allows famous voices to tell you where to go. What happened to the good old compass... Dib Dib Dob Dob.
Speed Camera Warnings
-----------------------------------
The TomTom tells you when there is a speed camera coming up as well. The warning comes up on the monitor in a customary red flash that alerts you... it lets out an alert tone just in case the flashing does not warn you. TomTom...

Tom Tom one V3 Europe with TMC receiver - Good VFM
Review of TomTom ONE V3 Europe by
P_S_Price
Advantages: Price, Free traffic updates, slimline, Tom Tom one home
Disadvantages: Accuracy of TMC (not tom toms fault), Map problems,
...never found this to be any kind of a problem at all. It is large enough to clearly display upcomming turns/direction, and in any case the voice navigation tells you what to do (but not always clearly correct eg when joining the M60 from the M61)
The menu system is different on the V3 from the original, and one Item that was great on the original, but has departed from the V3 is the ability to make and populate your own POI categories.
Another difference is that the old units made use of an SD card and it was possible to have a selection of maps for different countries on SD card, which you just re-inserted. This is no longer possible. If you want more than Europe you can no longer buy the map on SD card, but must now buy and down load it to your PC, and then replace the maps on the unit via Tom Tom Home. This means that PC connectivity...

TomTom One is the only one for me!!
Review of TomTom ONE Great Britain by
stargirl644
Advantages: clear display, loud speaking voice, sensitive touch screen
Disadvantages: Navigation is not 100% accurate
...Having only had my Tomtom one for a short time I now wonder how I got on without it!! There is very little to dislike about the product, in fact my only piece of advice is don't ditch the A-Z just yet as the navigation is not 100% accurate, however this is something common to all GPS not just Tomtom. In general it will navigate me within sight of where I want to be, even if it doesn't get me to the doorstep.
On the plus side, the Tomtom has a clear screen showing easy to follow directions. You can also change it to night colours if you find the brightness too distracting. You can also set the map to switch off when driving at top speeds, and just rely on the voice if you are worried about distractions. The voice is very loud, which means you can hear it when driving a top speeds even with the radio on. The functions are easy...

TomTom's great at hide and seek
Review of TomTom ONE V2 Regional Great Britain by
tgrimstock
Advantages: a safe way to drive
Disadvantages: more attractive to car theft crime
...would be travelling 8 MPH faster. The big plus is the speed camera warnings. This can save you your license and of course points on the license.
At last there is a device that is on your side while on the road, a real friend. I only wish it was available 10 years ago.
TomTom sat nav system requires regular upgrades from online. The downloadable file is not too big if you have broadband, though can take 20 minutes or so for a dial up connection. The software is very easy to use and is worth having the £20.00 add on fee for all the speed camera alerts as the traffic police always change the locations of cameras every 2-3 months.
This is hardly dealing with road safety is it! You don't get road builders swapping roads around making accident blackspots different every 2-3 months do you.....This is why the updates for the software...

The Oh-Mighty Tom-Tom!!!
Review of TomTom ONE V2 Regional Great Britain by
Wee_lis27
Advantages: Care free journeys (long distance or new places) No more traffic jams!
Disadvantages: Desirable to thiefs and does need to be charge!
...!
***What Can it do??***
It re-directed us if it received information of any traffic jams. Within the whole duration of the journey to France did we once have to sit in a traffic jam thanks to TomTom. Change memory card for different countries! Re-directs you if you take a wrong turn. Great for places you've never been to before. I seen taxi-drivers with one (very occasionally) which is a great idea for them!
*** TIPS ***
Aslong as you remember to charge everything up and dont forget any memory cards your fine. I also recommend that every time you leave your car you either take the TomTom with you or hide it (everyone wants one- very desirable to thiefs). Hope this was helpful!
** PRODUCT INFO***
Ours was bought from the internet for roughly £325.
We had no problems with the product. Once in the perfect place, it didn't have...

V1 (Tomtom, not Doodlebug) LATEST! . .
Review of TomTom ONE Great Britain by
smudgeybabes
Advantages: No setting up, plug & play.
Disadvantages: None.
...review
------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------
As a regular user of the TomTom, I do recommend these. I do realise there are a large number of reports on them, but here are my opinions on the version one, I will let someone else write about the version 2.
I would like to say to anyone considering buying one of these, you can still buy the version one (old stock) if you can find one, this model can now be bought for less than £150 - an absolute bargain. the main difference is the size, the newer one being slimmer and therefore lighter. The next difference is the software, although all you do is download the latest version maps & upload onto your Tomtom, all this is free.
The TomTom is an absolute doddle to set up and operate, and much has been written on the subject. My view...
