...I recently reviewed the TomTom one, which we bought with the Western Europe maps, and I have been waiting to put Jane (our name, after the voice) through her paces in rural France. As with all TomTom maps, easy to see, easy to use, easy to understand, and easy to update. Absolutely fantastic, I have no idea how we ever coped without her/it. From getting off the ferry, the map/navigation was spot on, good clear instructions, in plenty of time, and the first time I have ever got through Paris without a hitch. To give you an idea of how good, we bought a local map of where we were going on the Limousin/Perigord borders, that did not have the town we were staying in (I call it a town loosely) as it was so small, no problem for TomTom, straight there, which was welcome after 7 hours of driving. ...... The map of Western Europe comes as a DVD which you download to your Tomtom, this is done using the free programme called Tomtom home. You then are able to use your Tomtom one, Tomtom Rider, or any of the Tomtom Go series in Europe. The map in this review is version 6.5, this is the latest version out, and is pretty much up to date. Contents - In the box you will find, the latest version 6.5 software on DVD, containing very detailed instructions, voice prompt files and Tomtom home, also in the box are the warranty leaflet, (the warranty is for one year) a simple installation poster, and the product code card (you will need to go online to activate this, see www.ttcode.com) Type of format - as stated the DVD is put into your PC, which in turn is downloaded to the Tomtom.There are some nice & easy to see graphics... ...should be heading for. It has software that is easy to use and allows you to connect to your home computer and update readily. You do need to use the in car charger if going any distance, but its easy enough to use. The sucker is very quick to put in place, and also take down again. I like that you can have places of special interest, like petrol stations showing. Especially useful when going to an area that is remote (like parts of Wales and Scotland) so you have an idea of where a station is. I have two memory cards, simply to ensure I always have a back up since all information is on the one card. Route options are good, with more than just the quickest option available. ...in your trip, etc. You can customize it to 'speak' in many different languages including English, Dutch, Portuguese, French and many others. Furthermore, you can also set the map with different colour schemes, which is very handy when driving at night so the colours are a bit less bright. Other additional features (you need to pay for this) let you know the weather of your destination in advance, the traffic of your route, make phone calls if your device allows you and many others. The advantage of this over the main Tomtom unit is that it has maps for the whole of the Western Europe. Advantages: Great features, Price

...to get one and they were out of my price range but in August 2007 V2 got a price cut and V3 entered the market cheaper than ever at around £140/150, or now a bargain at £132.00 as shown above. It was a little steep for me but because the features all seemed so worthwhile I had to get it. Tomtom have kept choosing simple with all the features on the ONE being the same as the ONE XL (just has a bigger screen) and also you can get one with Europe maps and one with GB. So there are four straight versions, easy (minus the expensive tomtoms higher up the range which have features most of us wont use). The other advantage of picking a tomtom is that they are market leaders and they seem to look after there customers, offering easily accessible software upgrades for the unit, decent support and map updates. ...I was bought this for Xmas and I felt like a kid again. The special offer at Curry's brings also a very welcome TomTom traffic module, this is actually just a re branded TMC module (the little green cameras on motorways) and works via RDS but hey on its own is about £60 so why not. Open another box (inside the big one) and you finally you find the TomTom, sitting there looking at you pretty in a nice gleam smile. I was just dying to open it up and try it. Common sense though suggested putting it on charge and playing about with the rest of the gadgets. This is where the first problem arouses. There is no jack to plug the charger in the TomTom and you have to use the dock, which means you have you have a dangling USB cable down in the living room because some genius designer though to make it built in. ...Easily the best Low price GPS on the market. It's small, lightweight, easy to use and doubles up as a bluetooth hands free. Aswell as having customisable voices, an updated speed camera database, thousands of POS's (Points of intrests) it can even avoid traffic jams iether through the Tomtom plus services which work through a bluetooth connection to your bluetooth enabled mobile phone or through a traffic ariel attachment. It's quick and easy to remove from your car and small enough and light enough to carry in your pocket. You can even easily move it between cars using an extra mount saving you from having to unplug everything and re attach the suction cup. You don't have to worry about the device loosing suction and falling to the floor of your car when you go over a bump because the suction cup is tough enough to support... Read review

...Nav 6 is the successor to Nav 5 and TomTom Mobile 5 and can be used on a number of Mobiles and PDAs. My review is based on my experience using an MDA Variao 2. I recently took a trip to Europe on my bike and got a copy of TT Nav 6. Not actually knowing much about where I was didn't give me much confidence but the Vario 2 with the Nav 6 installed was a lifesaver. Map are so detailed and being on the bike meant fuel stops were frequemt but I was able to plan this using the software. The 3D maps were good but I prefer 2D maps as I work a lot with paper maps and charts and it's just what I'm used to. The colours used were good, each screen was easy oto focus on with a good contrast of colours used. My experience in Europe was limited to planning and frequent checking of my route upon stopping. ...in the hold of a plane. You don’t have to choose the Europe version as this would be a waste unless you travel there at least yearly. There is a GB version only but with the TomTom Europe you get all the GB street maps plus Ireland as well as Western Europe. We spent some time talking to staff from Halfords, Comet and a couple of other places plus the internet prior to purchase and the impression we got was that they all felt the TomTom was probably the least complicated of the GPS range to use, which suits me. We did look at the standard and the XL which are the same except for the XL being larger. tthe screen on the XL is 4.3 inches where as the screen on the TomTom one is 3.5-inch .I have narrow long fingers so the small touchscreen size would have been satisfactory but we went for the XL as my husband has bigger fingers and the extra...
