I bought this Tom Tom as every time I have to go somewhere that I'm not familiar with I get lost!
It cost me £299, which is a lot of money, but as it has the speed camera's on it, it helps me keep a clean licence, so to me its well worth the money. You can get them cheaper if you don't want the camera's on it, but as this was a treat to me I...

The Real Tomtom ONE V3 GB Review
Review of TomTom ONE XL United Kingdom & Republic of Ireland by
NickUK
Advantages: Great features, Price
Disadvantages: None - Maybe battery life, restricted internal memory
...to get one and they were out of my price range but in August 2007 V2 got a price cut and V3 entered the market cheaper than ever at around £140/150, or now a bargain at £132.00 as shown above. It was a little steep for me but because the features all seemed so worthwhile I had to get it.
Tomtom have kept choosing simple with all the features on the ONE being the same as the ONE XL (just has a bigger screen) and also you can get one with Europe maps and one with GB. So there are four straight versions, easy (minus the expensive tomtoms higher up the range which have features most of us wont use). The other advantage of picking a tomtom is that they are market leaders and they seem to look after there customers, offering easily accessible software upgrades for the unit, decent support and map updates.
So which one to choose the new V3...

TomTom One XL. It just Exels!
Review of TomTom ONE XL by
NomisG
Advantages: Easy to use, incredible detail
Disadvantages: None to speak of, really.
...is at dirrections?
In a word, Excellent! But I would temper that with one bad experience. It sent us to a ski hill via a road that is closed in winter! A bit of a let down, but the only bad experience in 2,300KM of driving over 10 days.
So, a wholehearted recommendation. Its a great driving aid. I think it improves safety too, because there really is no need to be making sudden dirrection changes when you spot a sign at the last second! TomTom gives you clear and consise dirrections before and during route deviations. I love it!!...

TomTom Domination
Review of TomTom ONE XL United Kingdom & Republic of Ireland by
laptop07
Advantages: Large Screen, Quick route Calculations, Buddy finder, Touchscreen, Speed Camera's
Disadvantages: Battery Life (but just plug it into the car's cig lighter!)
...I have spent along time looking at the Sat Nav market (approx. 12 months) and was really waiting for prices to drop and to get a model to my needs. So far I have this with the TomTom One XL. The best thing for new buyers is that it works straight out the box. No need to pug it into your computer, but put in the destination that you desire and off you go.
The battery life is not brilliant (TomTom state is has a battery life of 2 hours) but can you really complain when you have it in the car and all you have to do is pug it into your cigarette lighter? Which can I remind you is pretty much free energy don’t forget. One negative point would have to be there is no AC power adapter (they can be bought separately), so that you can charge it at home – but then saying that why not just charge it in the car. Wires!! Might think it’s a bit mess...

Tomtom - just in case! . . .
Review of TomTom Carry case ONE Case GPS by
smudgeybabes
Advantages: Protects.
Disadvantages: None.
...of this idea however, is the fact that it would be a visual target for muggers, I suppose you can't win them all.
The RRP is a whopping £19.99, although it is good quality, I suspect it is not actually worth this, and you can buy cheaper on the t'internet. . You have several other cheaper alternatives, you could go for a non brand name, or you could support your local charity shop and buy an old camera case - I am perfectly serious, you would have more choice of styles and colours, and you girls could co-ordinate your outfit with a choice of "designer" named camera cases. OR you could buy one from Tomtom, using vouchers. These are given away free with Tomtoms, and can be used to purchase any accessory, including cases. You will find that most vouchers are thrown away, or appear on ebay for 99p, most not even getting a single bid, so for a couple...

TomTom One… It will change your life
Review of TomTom ONE Great Britain by
supreah
Advantages: Excellent navigation and GPS reception, portable, good value for money
Disadvantages: Poorly located charging indicator LED
...to use and also provides a number of features which make planning of your journey an easy task.
Routing algorithm: This has to be an important feature. A satnav must be able to calculate the best route in the quickest possible time and quickly recalculate if one has taken a wrong turn somewhere. This rerouting feature is of course, what makes the investment worth it.
The routing algorithm for the TomTom is proprietary, of course. But, what matters is the speed and accuracy which is quite impressive. Even for calculating reasonably long routes, it does not take more than 5 seconds and the accuracy is spot on. We actually tested the algorithm with some routes we knew and the TomTom came up with better routes, in some cases, than the ones we were convinced, were the fastest. And according to experts, TomTom devices are the best when...

Does Size Matter?
Review of TomTom ONE XL United Kingdom & Republic of Ireland by
darren1987
Advantages: Bigger Screen, Easy to use, subscribe to speed camera services and many more
Disadvantages: Can lose satellite signal from time-to-time
...want.
-the bigger screen means its even easier to use than the original.
-updates are just as quick as the original and the speed camera facilities are available for all you boy racers.
-as with the original, you can download different voices, my fathers tells him not to leave the device in the car when the destination is reached.
-to compliment the design, new products such as carry cases, mounting solutions and a fast home charger have been launched.
Here are some of the disadvantages;
-as with most gps recievers, they sometimes struggle to pick up a satellite connection but this has rarely happened with the TT One xl.
-still have a little trouble with the new mounting bracket.
-chance it may be stolen if left visible.
In conclusion, the TomTom One XL has all the benefits of the original plus more, therefore its...

Tom Tom ONE XL
Review of TomTom ONE XL United Kingdom & Republic of Ireland by
MarcMontgomery
Advantages: Large Screen, Easy to navigate menu, great GUI, nice layout, array of features.
Disadvantages: Battery Life.
...by lowering the volume, dulling the screen etc but this item will be used in a car more often than not so you just plug in the AC car adapter which is included in the box and it charges from there. There are numerous voice profiles to choose from like \"UK Jane\" and american accents.
You navigate to a destination by simpy touching the screen and selecting the \"navigate to\" option then you can input the city, street address, or postcode. The tom tom ONE XL then calculates the quickest route for you giving you a summary of the journey in miles, time taken etc. Also this unit has speed camera alerts and POI (points of interest) which include petrol stations etc.
Hope this review is as useful to you as the Tom Tom ONE XL has been to me......

TomTom is Number ONE
Review of TomTom ONE V2 Regional Great Britain by
1st2thebar
Advantages: reliability easy to use
Disadvantages: large software files
...-----------------------------------------------
The TomTom ONE V2 is the only brand worthy Sat Nav system that uses savvy technology with a slick and compact interface that deals with all your landmark requests, roadmaps, voice settings, easy navigation on the 3X3 inch monitor. It comes with car plugs and software accessories. If you said 2 years ago I would have this little bit of Sav Nav revolution in my car I would of laughed. "Mr T, telling me where to go.... your telling a porkie!! " Yeah, the software allows famous voices to tell you where to go. What happened to the good old compass... Dib Dib Dob Dob.
Speed Camera Warnings
-----------------------------------
The TomTom tells you when there is a speed camera coming up as well. The warning comes up on the monitor in a customary red flash that alerts you... it lets out an alert tone just in case the flashing does not warn you. TomTom...

TomTom thumbs up!
Review of TomTom ONE XL Regional by
chugglebunny
Advantages: Easy to use, lots of options
Disadvantages: Needs to be updated monthly
...I brought this as a gift for my mother last christmas as she doesn't often drive to far and, like me, is slightly geographically challenged
Purchase and Price
---------------------------
I brought the tom tom from Tesco, at the time I had a voucher for £50 off voucher which made it only £99 in price, very reasonable I feel for a sat nav.
I did have quite a few problems with the ordering and collection of item, but thats a whole other Tesco review!
The XL One comes in a pack with a small black pouch case, which is fastened by velcro, a mains charger, an in car charge (to be plugged into the lighter switch in the car) and the holder/stand that suctions the Sat Nav to the wind screen. Also Included in the price was a £10 online redeemable voucher, which can be used to purchase a different case or celebrity voice overs for those...
