...The Tom Tom ONE XL Europe is one of the easiest car navigation devices to use. It is mostly self explainatry but if you are unsure how to use it, the manual is very specific and very easy to understand. In my opinion the actual software that is installed on it is excellent. When driving, it is easy to follow all of the instruction that are being said by the automated voice. The one concern with this product is the very short battery life and sometimes, when it has been previously been connected to the computer to install updates, the system gets stuck and freezes. It has to be reset for it to function properly again and then it takes up to ten minutes!! There are many options that you can choose when planning your route so you drive the route that is most suitable for you. Other than the one disadvantage, it is a very good car navigation...

Versatile Road Cat - Tomtom XL Europe.

Advantages: fast, upgradeable, reliable, robust, costumisable, portable and much more
Disadvantages: confuses speeds at times, battery power loss while switched off

...I don't know what the experience with this product has been for others, but I certainly have my views. I feel this product is of very good value for money and most of the time does get you where you need to be, the only reason why I am only giving 4 stars instead of five is to the fact that it has for me a few niggly bits....It may be only mine it may be faulty but I believe that not to be the case I feel this is probably a problem for all, however just commonly ignored due to the usefulness of this device. I purchased mine about 4 to 5 months ago, came home installed the software and away I was getting all the updates (permitted ones) and ready to go. I even went on a few trips just to test the little devil, I was over the moon. Good and easy to use extra large screen voice command and customizable that was exactly as I had dreamed...

TOMTOM one great while it worked

...On buying my Tomtom one i was very excited and also a little disapointed with the size of the box, i purchased a TomTom one v4 europe with traffic updates. The set up was very simple no CD to mess about with and put in my "Man Draw" never to be seen again all the software for your pc is on the unit itself just plug the usb lead in and away you go. The new easy mount part is truly rubbish you click the unit into it and unless you get this right it will pop out, now bearing in ming you will be doing this on a windscreen of a car and if you have a car like mine a Ford Galaxy the windscreen is a mile away and proved fiddley to mount correctly also the USB leas from the charger just doesnt want to go in the hole so you have to take it off again and plug it in then try and snap the unit back into its mount fine on a nice cool day but not...

...at dirrections? In a word, Excellent! But I would temper that with one bad experience. It sent us to a ski hill via a road that is closed in winter! A bit of a let down, but the only bad experience in 2,300KM of driving over 10 days. So, a wholehearted recommendation. Its a great driving aid. I think it improves safety too, because there really is no need to be making sudden dirrection changes when you spot a sign at the last second! TomTom gives you clear and consise dirrections before and during route deviations. I love it!!...

...I recently purchased the new TomTom Europe 22 from Halfords. I was originally going to buy the V3 of the TomTom Europe as the price is genuinley lower than the new one is. I'll get to that now. I actually, did, buy the V3 model first. When I did and went to set it up in the car I noticed the windscreen suction piece wasn't in the box and to top that, the actual sat nav seemed 2nd hand. Scratches - deep scratches - all over the sat nav. So I boxed it all back up and went back into Halfords. Served by the same person - baring in mind, it's the assistant manager. I told her the situation and that I wasn't pleased. She said, "I must of forgotten to tell you the sat nav I sold you was originally a display model". Which I don't believe as I doubt a display model would have scratches all over it as it's stuck behind glass. She explained to me...

...the fancy features of the other models - leave them alone and buy this basic. Most of the upgrades of the high end models are available on down load anyway! What is so good about it? 1) It is relatively slim for a sat nav, so it will fit into a jacket pocket. 2) It is sooo easy to use that even a techophobe will find it a doddle with it's simple displays and touch screen. 3) It cuts out all the fancy bits that you don't need. 4) You can update it quickly and easily through your PC. 5) The display has a 3D facility that is incredibly simple to follow - far better than any version I have seen on friends sat navs. when they see Tom Tom they know they have made the wrong choice! 6) You can programme different ways of reaching your destination i.e. avoid motorways, road blocks etc, etc. 7) At the touch of the screen you can find...

Brilliant device TomTom ONE XL

Advantages: easy to use, nifty features

...! Other features: There are lots more features to the TomTom One XL but I'm yet to experiment with them all. I just use it for the basics, getting from A to B. But I'm sure these other features will prove very useful to others. Overall: For technology whizzs and gadget nerds, this review probably hasn't covered enough of the elements for you. But for drivers hoping to purchase one of these or use for the first time I hope I've covered enough of the basics and given you a little insight into the wondrous world of the TomTom One XL. There may well be better models out there, but this one does a fine job and I will continue to use it....

The only ONE you'll need!

Advantages: Signal strength is excellent; Price; Look; Ease of use
Disadvantages: Might be hard to operate with large fingers; can be dangerous to use whilst driving

...- I've seen some around £50 - but I do believe you get what you pay for, and as I only wanted a Sat Nav with UK maps on it (TomTom ONE Classic comes with Republic of Ireland maps too), it was a great price. You can get Sat Nav's with Europe maps too, but as my parents have one of these, I'd be able to borrow their Sat Nav when I drive abroad! IN THE BOX, AND THE TOMTOM'S APPEARANCE Included in the box were: * The Sat Nav * Car Charger * Instructions * USB Charger The best thing about the TomTom ONE Classic is the fact you can connect it up to your laptop/PC to charge it. Before, I could only charge my old Sat Nav via my car's cigarette lighter, but thanks to the USB cable, you can now charge it via your PC. To be honest though, I've only ever done this once! I think it's slightly easier to charge it whilst you're driving...

Size might not matter but it sure is nice

There is a GB version only but with the TomTom Europe you get all the GB street maps plus Ireland as well as Western Europe.
