TomTom is Number ONE
Review of TomTom ONE V2 Regional Great Britain by
1st2thebar
Advantages: reliability easy to use
Disadvantages: large software files
...driving mode is very impressive, the monitor is not too bright and is eye friendly. This was one on my worries when buying this product. Have they catered for eye tiredness. I am pleased to say "yes", all angles have been covered.
Location to location.
---------------------------
We all have been in a road block... Well now you are warned.. TomTom alerts you if any hold-ups are ahead and will automatically re-direct you onto an alternative route. The problem is that if everyone else has a TomTom all routes could prove difficult. Having said that, it would not be as bad as it once would of been. You can re-select alternative routes manually. TomTom is a system that allows human intervention... Yeah.. us humans are in total control really... Remember who made you. TomTom is nothing like KIT the car from Knight rider. You will have...

The map of Western Europe comes as a DVD which you download to your Tomtom, this is done using the free programme called Tomtom home. You then are able to use your Tomtom one, Tomtom Rider, or any of the Tomtom Go series in Europe. The map in this review is version 6.5, this is the latest version out, and is pretty much up to date.
Contents - In the box you will find, the latest version 6.5 software on DVD, containing very detailed instructions, voice prompt files and Tomtom home, also in the box are the warranty leaflet, (the warranty is for one year) a simple installation poster, and the product code card (you will need to go online to activate this, see www.ttcode.com)

tom tom rider sat nav kit!!
Review of TomTom Rider by
chrisni1986
Advantages: easy to use
Disadvantages: voice in helmet off putting
...the tom tom rider... never again get lost on a bike, scooter etc.. this excellent piece of kit fits simply onto the top of a conventional motorbike's front forks or can be attached to a scooter fairing/screen with some simply modification and being only around a kg or so its very light so theres no real risk of breaking anything when attaching the device... once attached your ready to navigate to anywhere you please.. but its gonna rain.. navigation over right?? wrong the tom tom rider is water resistant so can be used in pretty much all conditions.. even in direct sunlight the anti glare screen is easy to see and use.. getting directions from the device happens through a wireless bluetooth headset that you wear inside your helmet.. this headset can also be used to answer voice calls from you mobile phone as the device also routes calls...

Weatherproof Satnav - not just for bikers
Review of TomTom Rider by
dobieg
Advantages: Rugged construction, touch screen operation
Disadvantages: More expensive than car-only uniys, but worth it
...Satellite navigation is rapidly becoming one of the latest 'must have' accessories for motorists, the TOMTOM rider is one of the best on offer to the biker.
I'd like to think my sense of direction was better than average, I tend not to travel very far from my accustomed routes and as I'm pretty conscientious about sticking to speed limits, I wouldn't necessarily fit the marketing profile for 'early adoption' of 'satnav' technology.
Around eighteen months ago I acquired a BMW bike - 1100ccs of sheer extravagance - which, except for a couple of trips of around 100 miles, and one of 500 it's rarely been more than a few miles from home.
I've always intended to get out and about a lot more, but one of the things that has held me back is the inconvenience of faffing about with maps, and constantly keeping an eye out for speed cameras...

The perfect advanced mobile GPS!
Review of TomTom Rider by
maddycatty2k
Advantages: Quick satellite lock, can be using for cycling and walking, updates quickly.
Disadvantages: If not attached to bike battery for charging, then the TomTom Rider only lasts 5 hours.
...I've only had my TomTom Rider for a month now, and have yet to take it out for use on my motorcycle (due the electrical system and alternator being completely trashed). I have, however, taken it out with me on walks.
The great thing is that it has the options for walking, cycling, etc routes when you select a destination. What I did was point to a location near the sea, that was about 20 miles away. Apparently, looking at the map on the GPS, it was in the middle of nowhere and the "lane" had about 10 houses throughout a mile or so walk.
So what did I do? I grabbed my backpack, put on the bluetooth headset, and listened only for audio instructions. This thing guided me with audio completely to my destination and I didn't even have to stop to pull it out of my bag and look at it. I did, however, make stops to drink fluids...

TomTom One… It will change your life
Review of TomTom ONE Great Britain by
supreah
Advantages: Excellent navigation and GPS reception, portable, good value for money
Disadvantages: Poorly located charging indicator LED
...I don't know too much about in-car satellite navigation systems (satnavs, as they call them) and it's not that I have used a number of devices so that I can compare the pros and cons of one against the other. But, I am a very satisfied user of TomTom One and would definitely recommend it to any potential buyer. We bought the TomTom One about 4 months ago and to date, it hasn't given us a chance to regret our decision.
The TomTom One is one of the numerous entry-level satnavs in the market, but does not disappoint with its loads of features and reasonable price (We bought ours in Aug 2006 for £199). It has become very popular in the market. There are, of course, other companies which offer entry-level devices at a much lower price, but I can say from my and my friends' limited experience, TomTom devices are way ahead in terms...

TomTom To the Rescue
Review of TomTom GO 520 by
mynameisrui
Advantages: Easy to use, better than an A-Z
Disadvantages: Bit expensive, battery is not great
...After recently getting my brand spanking new TomTom 520 I thought I'd say a few words about how wonderful it is!
The TomTom brand of satellite navigation is probably the most popular satellite navigation system around. This is not to say it is the best one, merely the most popular. Within the TomTom range there are numerous models and the price ranges from about £130 - £400. Obviously the more you pay then the more features you will get. These may include things like different maps for the rest of the world or the ability to link it to your phone.
Satellite navigation systems are basically a tool that uses satellites to locate where you currently are and direct you to your destination by putting in the desired address. They use spoken voices to tell you when and where to turn and also how far from your turning you are...

Better than tomtom classic
Review of TomTom GO 300 by
SNOWY1976
Advantages: bluetooth conectivity, avoids tolls and motorways, postcode search
Disadvantages: highly nickable
...As you have probley guest this is my second review of the tomtom go satalite navigation system after owning the tomtom go classic for about a year I was foolish enough to leave mine in my car for five seconds as I popped into work not knowing that the light fingered brigade had spotted my beloved tomtom go classic through my blacked out privacy glass in my mg and before I knew it I had a broken drivers side window and my tomtom had gone.
After getting my car fixed and numerous interviews with the police I found out I had acouple of weeks insurance provided buy currys still valid so I got in touch with currys for a claim form which they rushed to me after sending it off I had to wait a couple of weeks for a reply . During those couple of weeks of waiting I realised that the tomtom was the best purchase I had ever made and I was lost...

Have TomTom will travel!
Review of TomTom ONE Local by
kwildchild
Advantages: Compact, neat and gets you where you want to go
Disadvantages: Don't use Shortest route on long journeys
...So there I was with a trip to Leicester from North Wales, so I visited a website to get a route map, OH NO! How confusing, so I bought myself the new TomTom One Local from my local Currys for only £199.98.
After getting the TomTom home and unpacking it I couldn't believe how compact the new model was compared to the older models that I had used in the past the new TomTom One is about 2.8cms deep, 9.5cms wide and 8cms high.
In the box you get the SD card with the UK map on it as well as a CD with TomTom Home, which I will mention Later, the in-car charger, cable for plugging the TomTom into your PC, windscreen mount, registration card and the manual that you need to get the TomTom running.
First of all the manual is right down to the basics of using the TomTom and explains how to enter an address and the TomTom will work out...
