Advantages: You can carry your baby facing you or facing outwards in total comfort.
Disadvantages: None that I can think of.

...I bought one of these for my first baby, it was a god send, you can carry your baby in 2 positions - facing you or facing outwards. I found facing them towards you when they are small is better as they cant see much from birth anyway. As they get older they can see better so changing the position means they can see where they are going. I also used it with my second baby which helped me a lot as I didn't have to push around a double buggy, I had the baby in the carrier and my other daughter in a single pushchair, great for looking around shops. The material inside is like a fleece, it is so soft and snug, it still feels like this now after lots of washes. (machine washable). It also has a storage pocket and a dummy holder which is great for when your baby spits out the dummy! It can fold out flat so you can put your baby in...

An excellent way to carry your baby

I'd often seen people out and about with there cute tiny babies in the little pouch on their front and thought it looked cute. ...We bought the Tomy Freestyle for use with our first child two years ago. It's a front carrier that takes a baby from birth to around 9 months. It cost me around £30 from Mothercare. We chose this carrier because the fabric was so soft inside and on the outside it was quite plain, yet had a sporty look to it. My husband said it was the most masculine of the carriers available which was a big plus for him. It has two wide shoulder straps which cross over the wearer's back and a wide back support that goes around your waist. The whole front folds down to get baby in and out although we both find it hard to get the clips back through their respective holes to secure it. The Tomy Freestyle carrier had a large, padded velcro strap around the waist and back as well as an adjustable clip, very thick shoulder straps, and velcro around the baby's legs as well as a plastic clip so that he's safe in there but can be taken out easily. My decision was made, and I paid my £24.99 to the cashier happily. With a little practice I was able to slip the carrier over my head whilst holding the baby, get him into the carrier myself and do up all the neccessary clips. ...i bought this in desperation one day while shopping in meadowhall. my little one screamed blue murder in the pushchair so this was a last resort buy. we chose this one purely because it was the cheapest one in mothercare at £24.99. i really liked the colour which was also a big plus. having taken it out of the box in the shop we set about putting it on my husband.fitting it on yourself is very easy.there is a velcro waistband and then a large plastic clip for added security. you put it over your head then fasten the velcro and clip on your left hand side, very simple. i would say however it is not the easiest to adjust once it is on and i would reccomend you get someone to help you adjust it the first time you use it. once you are in it is time to put little one in. again this is very easy to do on your own. the baby carrier...

Comfortable and hands free!

Advantages: Makes it easy to run around after a bigger child/toddler, baby sleeps comfortably
Disadvantages: You can get a bit hot when the sun is blazing!

...I brought the Tomy Freestyle Premier because my toddler kept running off in the park and I was left running around with the baby in my arms so decided to buy a carrier. I chose this one because it is easy to detach your baby without waking them up as you can leave them in the harness which is separate to the straps that go around you - it does this on an "S" system and you sort of twist the baby off you but after a couple of practice goes I am finding it very easy. It has a head hugger for when baby is small and a dribble bib. My baby has slept fine it in and it is comfortable to wear and easy to adjust although on a hot day you do get a little warm! It can be used up to 19lbs or 12 mths and can be washed at 40C....

The complex Babasling Baby Carrier

Advantages: easy to store and clean. A hands-free alternative to a pushchair.

...On first glance this sling appears to be very simple, the instructions are clear and I appreciated the benefits of carrying your child in the ways the company suggest e.g. encouraging face to face contact. However I would strongly recommend practicing a lot with this item before leaving the house. Even when I was convinced the sling was adjusted correctly, it never felt completely secure. I found that despite the additional shoulder padding the strap was still uncomfortable and my baby never really looked particularly comfortable. It was a better alternative than a pushchair in busy areas and during peak shopping times as a pushchair can be cumbersome. ...Recently the video baby monitors that I had been given (second hand) gave up the ghost so I had to purchase a new set. I decided that I didn't need a video one again or one with any other fancy gimmick on it (one that plays a melody etc), I wanted a nice basic and reasonable cheap monitor just so I could hear when she wakes up in a morning etc. After looking online at the hundreds of monitors available (most of which are very expensive) I found the Tomy Walkabout Classic Advance and after reading a couple of reviews I decided that this one should do the job just fine. Wilkinet baby carrier

Advantages: soft and snug for small babies, comfortable
Disadvantages: needs lots of practice putting it on

...I bought the Wilkinet carrier for our first son who is now four, recommended by a friend. We both had premature babies so the idea of a carrier suitable for babies from 5lbs was great. I used the navy cordroy carrier and found the main advantages to be the soft, well wearing fabric, the padding and the comfort. The carrier is very comfortable for both mum and small baby. The padding is in all the right places and with it being all fabric it is soft all over with no rough bits or bits to dig in. When there was the odd little 'accident' on the carrier I could sponge it down and leave to dry ok. The disadvantage I did find however were the long straps. I am 5' 5'' and size 10/12 and found wrapping the long straps round me whist holding the baby quite difficult. Once I got the nack it wasn't too bad, although I wouldn't recommend...

...! I chose the Tomy Zanzibar because it seemed like a versatile option and it looked really plush and comfortable for baby. You can carry baby three ways - baby facing you (great for small babies, and just like a mobile cuddle for mums), baby facing out (for slightly nosier, older babies who like to see what is going on) or piggy back (fun for babies and Dads!). The Zanzibar comes in cream and coffee colours, which isn't everyone's cup of tea, but colour wasn't really my main priority. This is not the trendiest sling on the market, but then that wasn't my main priority either.
