The starter set was my son's first exposure to Thomas the Tank Engine - First things first - there are at least 5 different styles of Thomas toys - none which interact with each other so sticking to 1 type would be recommended. This is a My First Thomas range which are ideal for children aged 1 and above.The toys are brightly coloured and accurate copies of your favourite Thomas characters. There are plenty to collect! The trains all have non marking rubber wheels, are hard wearing, dishwasher safe and most importantly are battery free. A great and affordable gift for a 1 plus year old boy - My son, now 2 cannot get enough of his collection - he has 35+!!!! You can also purchase a track which the trains will interact with. ...My son was given this for christmas, they cost around £7 in places like toys'r'us and woolworths. It is a very simple design, all you do is push the driver down inside the engine and it will go (sometimes suprisingly fast and far - espescially on laminate!) No batteries required, it works on friction alone! As far as the Thomas design goes, it is pretty much classic - traditional colours - blue engine, red trim, yellow number and window outlione, black edging and window and a grey face. As with all Tomy thomas toys, it is instantly recognisable as Thomas the tank engine. Although a very simple toy, it seems to have the ability to keep my son (14months) entertained for ages - after unwrapping this on chistmas day, it was ages before I could convince him to let me have it and open another present (even then he still ending up... ...? *** It is made by Tomy who are famous for making popular, quality, reasonably priced toys. *** WHERE CAN I BUY IT? *** We have seen this in independent toy shops as well as Toys'r'us and on Amazon. We purchased ours from Amazon and the current price they are selling it for is £18.99. *** WHAT WE THINK *** It is a lovely bright, hard wearing plastic toy with lovely cheerful music. The music is very syncopated so not always easy to sing along to. The tune is 'whistled' out with the accompaniment being very synthesised. HOWEVER… we do have a few issues with it which makes us disappointed with our purchase. Firstly the train seems to be fixed to do a large semi-circle route and we can't change this. If it bumps into something light it either redirects itself or shoves the object out of the way. If Thomas gets stuck, he'll still play... Read review

...What is it about Grannies ? They don't do things by half do they ? When my Old-Trout- in- Law asked what to get Jnr for his third birthday we said "oh just something Thomas the Tank related". I didn't expect her to buy the whole flaming island of Sodor! This bit of kit is called Thomas Giant Set and they were not kidding. Anyone got a spare room ? ----- Is this the Giant Set then ….DUH? ----- As you all know Thomas the Tank Engine is a merry little engine. He rakes in a fortune for those nice people at Hit Entertainment, Tomy and Britt Allcroft and costs us all a mint in return. ...don't regret buying the Thomas the Tank Aquadraw because it stopped my son from drawing on everything with crayons and pens and it also proved to be a fun and educational toy for him to play with. I paid £30 for the Aquadraw set from Woolworths a while ago although I'm sure you will be able to get it cheaper now. Woolworths, Toy's r Us, Argos etc will sell the Tomy Aquadraw. Within this review I will cover my son's two favourite Thomas toys. I will also cover the cost, pros, cons, , and my own thoughts. **The Background** If you have not heard of Thomas the tank and friends then where have you been, this year especially has seen the Thomas market boom. Every shop you go in to has something with the Thomas logo on it. Thomas the tank engine and friends was first brought to our attention back in 1965 when a book was released and then in 1984 the first ever television version was aired. ...Thomas the tank engine pushes and go toy Yeah charity shop find again for Adrian. This blue Thomas the tank engine toy cost me 40p at toys are us this toy is £7.99p. I just gave the toy I got from the charity shop a wash in Milton and it is great ready to go. This toy measures 16cm by 18cm by 13 cm. It is made from a plastic. The train has a driver called “Sir Topham Hatt” sitting in the train if you push him down of the train goes whizzing across the floor. This toy does run on short pile carpet but better on smooth floor. I gave it to Adrian when he was about 10 months now at nearly a year (ohhh doesn’t time go fast.) he finds this in his toy box and pushes the driver down to make it whiz across the floor then Adrian crawls after it and pushes the driver down again he enjoys this toy for a little while before... ...For those of you who aren't too sure who Deagostini are, let me explain. They are the company who are behind many of the collection sets available either online or from your newagents every 2 weeks. The first issue is usually at a special price and then it's a set price for the remaining parts in the series. This can be a great way of building up a special collection for a reasonable amount every month. In this case the first issue was £1.99 followed by £4.99 for each part after that so for the whole set it's just over £255 as there are 52 issues. Seems a lot when you say it like that but we don't miss it so much when it's paid monthly and this set is produced in conjuction with Hit Entertainment who make the Thomas series. Of course people would have to have lived on a remote island not to have heard of Thomas the Tank Engine... Read review

My son have got nearly every set you can get and one of his Christmas wishes was Thomas and Jeremy airport set. Last year Christmas time has been very tiring because we spent so much time looking for it- every shop we to have been sold out.
