The standard HL-1450 features a slot at the front of the unit for feeding single sheets of paper or envelopes and a second paper tray at the base for holding approximately 250 sheets of A4 or Letter sized paper. ...The Brother HL-1050 is a fairly good laser printer. I've had mine for just over two years and in that time I've had no problems with it until recently. It can be connected via either parallel port or USB, comes with 4MB of memory and has a claimed print speed of 10ppm with a maximum resolution of 1200x600dpi. It is fast and handles text superbly and graphics adaquately. Toner cartridges are twenty five quid a throw and last a couple of thousand pages (I think) depending on print density and stuff like that. The printer driver offers a useful little window that opens and tells you the status of the printer (if it's asleep, if the toner is low, if the paper is jammed, etc). It is a quick printer, but it's not that small with a footprint of roughly 14.5" x 14.5" and a height of approximately 11". It's not quiet either. The paper... Read review

...I have used Brother Laser printers in the course of work for some years now and can only say that they are great. The older models such as the Brother HL8E are fantastic work horses and just keep on going and going producing very good quality print at a very low cost per page. The newer models such as the HL-760 are also excellent however have one drawback when compared with the older models. The newer models have a toner and a seperate drum. The older models had the two things combined, yes the toner on the newer models is cheaper but when you need a drum and combine this with the toner the cost is much higher than with the combined older model. This aside I would still highly recommend these machines. They are easy to use, problems which are few and far between are easy to sort and you can contact Brother technical for advice... Installation ~~~~~~~~ After the installation of the power and usb cable i installed the software and pushed on. Be careful if you will buy the printer. I know why the sound emission is 50 dB *smile* But later more about the sound machine. At least i put the paper inside and could start. The complete installation took not more time than 5 minutes. I was really happy. Ergonomic and look ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As aforementioned the printer is a quadratic box with a basic weight over 10 kg. The colour is lightgrey and neutral for every office. ...My old Epson finally gave up the ghost around 10 months ago, which lead me to look for a new Printer to hopefully last me the next 5 years. I eventually chose the Brother HL6050. Although this machine is probably the largest of the ones I looked at, it is by far the best. 42cm deep, and 31 cm tall. The Brother Hl 6050 is a mono laser printer, and cost me £299 from dabs.com. Incredibly quick printing, for the price (24ppm - pages per minute), and a paper tray which holds a full ream (500 sheets). You can use traditional cables, or USB or Infra red. I use USB, as this is very quick and reliable, unlike the infrared. One very useful function is the reprint function. If you have just printed out a document, and need another, simply press the reprint button, tell it how many copies you require, and press go... Read review
