...Tonga is the first country in the world to see in a New Year. It lies just past the international dateline and became the focal point for the Millenium celebrations of 2000. This is how Tonga first came to my attention, I saw the broadcast from the isalnd and thought it looked fantastic and decided that I would definitely go. I happened to have the chance to go to New Caledonia and looking at a map saw that nTonga was nearby (relatively speaking). So wehn my two weeks in New Caledonia was over my girlfriend and I decided to make the short flight to Tonga and stay for as long as our money would hold out. We weren't disappointed! GETTING THERE We flew with Air France from New Caledonia to Fua'amotu International Airport which is about 10 miles away from the capital of Nuku'alofa. A nice little pocket sling

Advantages: Can be taken anywhere, easy to use

She's not walking yet and I wanted something to help me carry her more easily for short periods of time. When my package containing the Tonga Baby hip carrier arrived in a small envelope, my initial instinct was "Oh no! They forgot to put it in!". About Samoa ------------------- Well Samoa is situated a few hours away from Australia and the two islands which are part of Samoa are very small and can sometimes be difficult to find on a world atlas. The first island is named Upolu which has the capital city of Apia there. The other is named Savaii and although there are about 5 other islands which are not inhabited these are the two which are. Each island is basically coastal because there is ocean everywhere you go visible in Samoa which is a nice thought and can be a breathtaking experience. OAHU IS AN ISLAND IN HAWAII

Advantages: Tropical island with a long history

We also passed some beautiful beaches on our way to the Polynesian Cultural Center where we spent the day viewing the different types of villages from the islands of Hawaii, Somoa, Tonga, Fiji, New Zealand and Tahiti. It was very informative. We attended a luau at the Cultural Center. It was not as spectacular as the one in Kauai. What was spectacular was the show in the outdoor theatre that evening. Put on by the students attending BYU on Oahu, it was representatives of all the polynesian cultures and was as good as any professional show that I have seen, including the costumes and the scenery. Oahu was not as expensive as Kauai and it being bigger had many more choices of places to eat. I also saw a lot of chain restaurants, which I did not see on Kauau. OPI Nail Lacquer

Advantages: Great choice of colours

OPI Laquers are normally around £8, but a bottle does last for a while. A big downside is that they are difficult to get hold of in the shops. As I said, I got mine in Boots, but since they stopped selling them there, I haven't seen them in any other shop. I think they can probably be bought from some beauty salons, and if you don't mind buying online, I have seen them being sold on a couple of websites (although colours might not be accurate on screen, so you could be disappointed with your choice if you order without actually seeing the colour).
