Toni and Guy
Review of Toni and Guy by
chazolate
Advantages: You can say you got your hair cut at Toni and Guy
Disadvantages: People wont believe you by looking at it
...My hair is the most important feature to me and therefore I was really upset when I started losing it due to years of straightening. I decided to try out hair extensions and went to toni and guy for a free consultation as well as S&I another near by hair dressers. After having a consultation with both I went back to Toni and Guy to book it with them however they informed me that the way they did the extensions had changed and i now had to pay £30 for a consultation and over £1000 for the work where as my previous quote was around £800.
I decided to get my hair done at S&I and I really like it there. When it was finally time to take the extensions out again I decided I would like to get my hair permanently straightened. Toni and Guy had two different treatments for this and at a consultation I was told they both worked about the same...

Toni&Guy Hair Scare
Review of Toni and Guy by
AmyS
Advantages: Can boost your hair-confidence
Disadvantages: Price, Staff, After-care
...Ever since my first trip around 3 yrs ago, ive been a dedicated Toni&Guy girl, even when thye messed my hair up! Howevere, i think now im starting to see the truth about them. Basically, the hype surrounding "Toni&Guy" overshadows the service. While you may get 9 out of ten people perfectly pleased with their style, you can guarantee that last person will not be pleased, and will be wondering how the hell the Stylist heard "Choppy bob" when they clearly asked for long layers. In short, sometimes it feels as though the stylists, although extremely skilled in what they do, are cutting your hair as if it were their own, as THEY would like, and not neccessarily relavent to how you have requested. The ever-so-stylish stylists can be somewhat overwhelming with their vision to create your hair into a catwalk masterpiece in 2 hours, while all...

Forget GHD, for a real good hair day read this!
Review of Yuko Straightening System by
elvyelvy
Advantages: Hair is frizz-free and poker straight for up to 6 months!
Disadvantages: Regrowth is pretty bad and a major hassle.
...still coming' (I had, in fact, cemented the date in my VIP details section of my memory so nothing short of a lobotomy would have made me forget) I was as ready as ever to have my hair taught a lesson or two, once and for all...
Getting there
***************
Now the place where I had the appointment was the original Yuko Salon in Green Park. Although now, the treatment is now available in certain more prestigious Toni and Guy's and I think, the hair salon within Al Fayed small boutique in Knightsbridge (you may have heard of it- you know the 'there is only one sale, there is only one Harrods advert which bombards our screens just after Christmas may give you some clues) also does it, this is the place where it all started.
The salon is located on Curzon Street which is just a couple of minutes walk away from the London Underground...

Fame Academy - Toni and Guy style
Review of Toni and Guy by
daisydaisym
Advantages: Freebie haircuts, friendly service,
Disadvantages: May take longer than a normal cut, as the tutors will double check everything!
...Before you read the rest of this review you need to know 2 things about me
1/ I HATE going to the hairdressers. Ever since a hideous haircut as an 8 year old that left me teased at school, and traumatised for life!!! And again, at 16 with a Toni and Guy's Stylist who just wouldn't listen to what I wanted at all!!! I left with big, bouffant, backcombed US soap star hair, which surprisingly didn't suit a 5 foot nothing school girl!
2/ I also hate people coming up to me on the street and trying to sell me stuff!
So, it was a very bizarre and unusual set of circumstances that found me this morning sitting in the Toni and Guy Training Academy on New Oxford Street, acting as a model for Rob, who was about to be assessed on his technique for cutting a classic bob! I'm not sure who was the most nervous, him or me!!!
HOW IT ALL...

Horror at Toni and Guy Victoria
Review of Toni and Guy by
just_one
Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Broken promises
...I saw an advert looking for model for colour, pasted outside Toni and Guy Victoria branch. I decided to walk in to enquire. The reception there set me an appointment to come in on a Thursday. As this was my first experience being a model for hair colour, I was a little unsure. Therefore I asked how experience the student who will be doing the colour is. I was given the assurance that Laura, the student is very good. However, I was prewarned that the whole process may take up to 3 hours.
On Thursday, the day of my appointment I was very excited. I had earlier applied for time off with my company in order to come in for the colour session. So, you could imagine my disappointment when I went into Toni and Guy and was informed by Catherine, a supposedly colour instructor that I would need to come in for a scalp colour test prior to my...

FREE kicks to your flicks at Toni & Guy Academy!
Review of Toni and Guy by
thought_fox
Advantages: Excellent, stylish cuts for FREE/£5; Pleasant surroundings
Disadvantages: Weekday appointments only; Restricted Times; Time consuming
...- cuts or colour etc. So I wanted both a cut AND highlights, so I decided to go for the branch in St Christopher's Place, Central London. Well, I tried calling them first, using the number was on the advert, but I couldn't get through as the "number was unavailable". So I decided to trudge down there myself. The location is relatively easy to get to, if not cunningly hidden - cross the road from Bond Street Station (on the Picadilly Line), walk in the direction AWAY from Selfridges, and you'll normally see a large sign advertising something in St Christopher's Place, pointing down a narrow alleyway (called "Gees Court") off Oxford Street. I swear I would have completely walked past it had the sign not been there - it's quite easy to miss! Walk down this alleyway and it leads to St Christopher's Place; the Toni&Guy building is on the left, past...

'Straightening Iron Protection Mist'
Review of Lee Stafford Hair Styling Products by
monsterbeans
Advantages: The product effect, value for money, NOT TESTED ON ANIMALS.
Disadvantages: Honestly don't think there are!
...I suppose with any hair product review, it helps if you know the reviewer's hair type. I have layers in my hair and my hair has a nice natural wave when washed and naturally dried. It has light texture and is sort of fine/medium. If I sleep, my hair becomes a mess which varies from quite cool, to nightmarish, I just have hair that sticks in whatever position I sleep in!
As a result I have been straightening my hair nearly everyday since I was 15. That's 5 years, and unbelievably, I only started to use heat protection spray last year (I know that is bad). Mind you, I am not normally going for poker-straight, just 'not scary'!!!
My main problem with any cosmetics/hair care is that big bad wolf ANIMAL TESTING. I get a little guide that tells me all the companies that Do and Don't test. It is my Bible. Under hair care, a little name...

Ex-Toni & Guy employee sets the record straight...
Review of Toni and Guy by
shinejunkie
Advantages: Some excellent, talented staff. Latest styles and techniques
Disadvantages: Staff often in England just for a year or two. Appointments too short.
...(Okay, so this was meant to be a response to "Conveyor belt hair dressing" but I exceeded the word-limit so I am instead posting in a new thread for all to see.)
It's not Toni & Guy salons that are at fault here - it's the individual colourist. You'll get good and bad colourists in any salon.
I used to work as a senior technician (colourist) at Toni & Guy and whilst I do have my criticisms of the company I feel it's unfair to assume that problems such as this apply to all Toni & Guy staff.
This stripey effect is something I saw a lot of regardless of where the colour was done. It is often laziness on the part of the colourist in colouring over the midlengths instead of just the regrowth. But there are a few things you can do yourself to minimise this, which is why I'm responding:
1. Keep to the same colourist. A different...

toni and guy acadmeny
Review of Toni and Guy by
kitty_l
Advantages: excellent haircut always coem out with a different hairstyle
Disadvantages: not for people who want a classic cut
...Well I have been getting my haircut at Toni and guy academy for over 2-3 years and I have to say I love it each time I go there!
Well an academy is where hairdressing students cut models hair. Make sure you know what haircut you want as you are sent to different locations.
For trims and color go to St Christopher place nearest station is bond st. I had a trim there and the guy who cut my hair was spot on in what I wanted! So the hair cut was 10/10.
Another time I was sent to Knightsbridge one... I had a women cutting my hair I showed her a picture of what I wanted... and totally cutted the opposite... nice layers but she cut a really heavy fringe into my hair... which took me two years to grow back properly.
At the waterloo location you get more funky looking hair as the students there are more advance... I liked the haircut...
