Tony Hawks Project 8 (PS3)
Review of Tony Hawks Project 8 (PS3) by
slate_dawg
Advantages: Good graphics, hundreds of goals and side games, more real than ever before
Disadvantages: Some graphical glitches, can be frustrating.
...Tony Hawks has exploded onto the PS3 with a revamped version of the PS2 game Project 8.
From personal experience and being a very big THPS fan, I can say that this is by far the most addictive, most improved and best Tony Hawks game on the market. Even as a "pick up and play" game it is very addictive as I have many friends who had tried this for the first time and have gone on to purchase the game themselves.
As you start the game, you create a skater that is completely custom to how you want him or her to look in a way that no previous game has been able to manage. Then, in a completely free roaming world, you unlock goals and areas around the game that increase in difficulty as you progress. Once a certain amount of goals are completed, you can unlock additional areas of the Tony Hawks world that expand the huge free roaming...

Tony Hawks project 8
Review of Tony Hawks Project 8 (PS3) by
andyyaris
Advantages: Easy to pick up
Disadvantages: Quite boring after a few hours
...After only really playing Tony Hawks games with friends usually over a few beers and enjoying playing them, I thought it was about time i bought myself one. I saw this on offer form play.com for £17.99 for the PS3.
It arrived, I played it for an hour and it seemed great, played it a second time and enjoyed it, by the thrid time i was starting to get bored. At this point i began to notice quite a lot of glitchs in game play and the graphics. I have had Tony stuck in a wall, wedged between two trees and blocked inbetween a ramp and a wall all of which which needed me to re-start the game. The graphics are no where near the potential of the PS3, its a slight upgrade to PS2 graphics at best
The controls and game play are good, as well as the motion sensative stuff using the siaxis controler and some of the music in the game...

Ok just before I start, I'm doing this review from memory lol
Tony hawk has hit the next gen console with his 8th instalment of the series, project 8. The game has been jittering around the airwaves for quite some time and said to be the real skateboarding experience. So naturally I had to have this being a Tony hawk fan and a skater myself. I saw that it was also coming out on the ps2 and thought great, they have...

Project 8
Review of Tony Hawk's Project 8 (PS2) by
haz633
Advantages: Good characters
Disadvantages: Glitchy at the end
...ust another Tony Hawk game? I think not.
Lets start from the beginning.
On Project 8 there is only the option to be male unlike underground, which is a downside especially for female gamers. However there are many options to customize your character.
The graphics are very good and there have been changes in the game play compared to previous tony hawk games, including an option to make your own trick whilst in the air by pressing R3+L3.
The sound is brilliant as it has real music tracks, including plus44 and Gnarls Barkley. The loading times are just as long as other Tony Hawk games but this time there is music and clips of skaters doing tricks, which passes the time quickly.
There is one major problem with this game towards the end. I found that the last level was impossible to complete becuase it said I had done a mission when...

Perfect Project
Review of Tony Hawk's Project 8 (Xbox 360) by
kaledrina
Advantages: Decent graphics, excellent soundtrack, great career mode, no loading screens
Disadvantages: Slightly tricky controls, some impossible challenges
...With the upcoming release of the 9th Tony Hawk game in October (or 11th, depending) I thought it would be a good idea to write a review on the 8th/10th game, Project 8, one of my favourites on the Xbox 360 and one I have spent many happy hours playing.
--------------
Gameplay
--------------
In career mode, you start off by customising your character. I must admit, although there is a lot of different clothes and hair colours, (more unlocked in the game) every character I have created has pretty much looked exactly the same, apart from the clothes.
There is then a fairly comprehensive tutorial mode, in which individual pros take you through flips, manualling, grinds and so on. I must admit, the tutorial is quite tricky in parts. I’ve got into ‘Project 8’, but I still haven’t completed all the tutorials. Nevertheless, it’s very...

Hawk Finally Takes Flight
Review of Tony Hawk's Project 8 (Xbox 360) by
Concrete_Donkey
Advantages: Pure Gaming Goodness - No Johnny Knoxville
Disadvantages: Live Mode is Lacking - Occasional Balancing Issues
...earlier? Its underlying principles hark back to old school high score crunching in the arcades with friends and a pocket full of ten pence pieces. On this basis, the Xbox Live compatibility in Project 8 should have been an interesting prospect, with the potential for skate competitions, massively multiplayer environments, player created parks and decks, and so on. Like so many other 360 titles, Tony Hawk online is a bit of a let down. There are options to go one on one and the predictable high score leader boards, however 'missed' and 'opportunity' spring immediately to mind.
So is it worth forty of your hard earned? Of course. When a game manages to fuse successes of the past with elements which add new dimensions to the series, and yes Nail the Trick I'm pointing a bloodied finger at you again, it has to be celebrated. Forgive the Jackass...

A Return To Form For Mr. Hawk
Review of Tony Hawk's Project 8 (PS2) by
jking1988
Advantages: A more back to basic approach than the underground games
Disadvantages: Some sick scores are very infuriating to try and get!
...From the moment i put the game into my ps2 i knew this game felt right, the simple stylish packaging, the promised new additions, and the back to basics approach the game seemed to have taken.
To this day i am yet to be disappointed by the game, which suprises me as much as it may well do you, for i had almost given up hope on the Tony Hawk name...
Now to the nitty gritty anyway, this review is gonna be broken down into the main catagories of: Gameplay, Sound, Graphics and Lifespan.
Now firstly there is the Gameplay:
Tony Hawk's Project 8 plays like a mixture between the classic Tony Hawk's games (1, 2, 3, 4) and the later 'Underground' games. Players can get off their board as in the later games which can be very useful for scaling objects to do sick tricks off! An awesome new edition is that of the 'Nail-the-trick' mode...

Tony haks project let down!!!
Review of Tony Hawk's Project 8 (PS2) by
smudge33
Advantages: nail the trick, some of the controls
Disadvantages: nearly the whole think, the creat a player, the maps, the goals the list goes on
...type of game play feature called ‘nail the trick’. You can do it in free skate or as a goal. I use it in free skate to get better at it for goals.
When you are doing a career mode you can now fail, get amateur, pro or sick. I think this is a very good feature because as you get better you can redo the goal but harder. If you are new to the Tony Hawks games there is now a tutorial level to help you get to grip with the basic controls.
Graphics:
On this game I think the graphics are very good, but not the best. There are a few glitches in the game and when you stand at certain places all you see is a black abyss
Game play:
I think some of the game play is good but could be improved even though it is the 8th game like this and you thought they would have learnt after making such an amazing game like Tony Hawks American wasteland...
