It's laterooms..... So, quite simply, the later you book, the better deal you are likely to get. It stands to reason. However, you can book about 2-3 weeks in advance and still get a decent deal. There are humorous anecdotes surrounding the life of Fermina Daza (she goes to Europe and comes back pregnant each time, what do you suppose she does there?), the quirks and foibles of being in love and being married, all of which serve to create a world and a sense that we know these characters. Above all, we cannot help but smile and be glad at the closing pages of the book, for it reaffirms our belief that not only can love exist in many forms, it can survive and endure, and it’s never too late for love. And even in that, Marquez is not sappy or sentimental, merely gentle and honest in his observation. It leaves the reader satisfied rather than groaning.
