Superdrug Tooth Whitening
Review of Superdrug Tooth Whitening Wand by
lilyellowfish
Advantages: Really works, makes a difference after one use, reasonable price
Disadvantages: The whitening chart is not true to life
...~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Why I brought the product
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have always wanted to have bright white teeth and a perfect smile, and also there is nothing I can do to get a perfect smile without braces, I knew you could whiten your teeth at home, rather than having to go to clinics for expensive treatments. So with white teeth, your half way to having a perfect smile. I thought I would try one of these home teeth whitening kits, so popped along to my local superdrug store where I found a kit which looked good and was reasonably priced, so it wasn't too much money to loose if it didn't work.
Macleans Whitening toothpaste
Review of Macleans Whitening by
liverpool21
Advantages: really whitens teeth is used regularly,fresh feeling,fluoride action,stain prevention
Disadvantages: a bit expensive,not suitable for children under 6,unless supervised by adult
...As a dental student and a frequent user of Macleans whitening toothpaste,I do have a bit to say about the product and it's good and(bad) sides.
Positive:
1 It's an excellent toothpaste,which unlike strong mint or baking soda toothpastes,tastes gentle and mild.
2. It helps to restore natural whiteness which is different to bleaching.The effects of bleaching may not always result in the elegant "natural" whiteness.Your teeth might look too white and can be sensitive to cold.I read this in an american journal.Macleans does restore natural whiteness with a gentle frequent use action.The effect is fairly obvious in a week.(I do admit when i first used it ,I was brushing three times a day,or probably more...and I did notice my teeth were cleaner within a week).You may not agreen on my experience,but as a coffee drinker and a generous...
Whitening That Works
Review of Aquafresh Whitening Toothpaste by
purebitch
Advantages: Tastes nice
Disadvantages: None, I am happy
...We all desire lovely clean, white teeth. Unfortunately, they do not always look, as we would like. There are lots of Whitening tooth pastes out there, but which work, and which do not?
I decided my teeth needed more care and attention. This meant investing in a new toothbrush and some whitening toothpaste. I chose Aquafresh Whitening.
*********************PACKAGING***********************
This toothpaste comes in a sparkling white box, with silver, hollographic edging. On the front of the box, is the word Auqafresh, in royal blue. Around the lettering is the silver hollographic edging. Underneath is the word whitening, in silver.
On the back of the box, is the ingredients and a little information about the toothpaste. All of this writing is in blue and relatively small in size.
Inside the box, is a silver tube, with a white...
Another Whitening Toothpaste.
Review of Melaleuca Whitening Tooth Polish by
NickleIckle
Advantages: Non-harmful ingredients; Pleasant taste.
Disadvantages: Expensive if you are not a memeber; only available through agents or online.
...This is one of the Melaleuca products that I have continued buying.
This toothpaste is pleasant tasting - not too strong, but with a mild minty flavour.
The benefits are the non-harmful ingredients. The toothpaste contains propolis and Melaleuca Oil (Tea-Tree oil), which fights bacteria, and flouride to prevent cavaties.The whitening formula does not contain harmfull chemicals, but works naturally.
I have found that my gums are much less inflamed and red since using this toothpaste regularly.
I cant quite make up my mind about it's whitening ability.. Its hard to tell really, as i think it is with all whitening toothpaste. I think there is a slight improvement, but nothing drastic!
The down side is that you can only buy it on the Melaleuca website, or through a Melaleuca agent.
The toothpaste costs €5.99 for a 108g tube retail...
Whitening Like Lighting
Review of Colgate Whitening Toothpaste by
Mickie26
Advantages: Works quickly, produces shine, tastes nice
Disadvantages: Quite expensive, needs continuous use.
...I have only just purchased Colgate Whitening toothpaste and with all the chocolate that I have been eating recently I thought I had better share with you a way to look after your mouth. Put it this way your going to need to if you've read and eat what's in my other opinions.
Colgate Whitening is a good way to restore teeth back to their usual colour which I find mine have got stained over the years due to consistent smoking which I have know given up.
This tooth paste works almost straight away and it's quite strong though not harsh and really works. It has Microcrystals in it which is the active ingredient.
Colgate Whitening ensures your teeth stay as healthy and strong as they are white. Which is really good as some whitening pastes like pearl whitening neglect the health of your teeth, but Colgate does not forget...
Pearl Drops Whitening Toothpolish
Review of Pearl Drops Whitening Toothpaste by
natalierees
Advantages: Readily available, white teeth
Disadvantages: need to use normal toothpaste as well
...it but they are not overwhite so it looks I have scrubbed them in paint!!! However like anything the effect is better when used over long periods of time.
It states that the product contains two special whiteners to poilsh away stains and is gentle enough to use twice a day. However here comes the warning.
*WARNING*
My dentist is definately against this product. He is a family friend so I trust him totally and he said that Pearl Drops are quite dangerous for teeth enamel. Apparently they work by scraping off the top layer of the teeth enamel to remove any discolouring. In doing this my dentist says that they are very abrasive and can actaully scratch the tooth enamel leaving small microscopic scratches on your teeth that you can't see. This he says then causes more discolouration as it sits in the small scratches and the vicious circle continues...
Pearl Drops Advanced Whitening
Review of Pearl Drops Whitening Toothpaste by
bawney123
Advantages: I did actually see an improvement!
Disadvantages: There is only 50ml in the bottle, contains harsh abrasives.
...Pearl Drops Advanced Whitening Tooth Polish is a relatively new product on the market. It is made by Carter-Wallace Ltd and promises to polish and whiten your teeth, and freshen your breath, or they will give you your money back.
I'm a bit of a sceptic when I see the countless adverts on television these days promising that you will look fabulous if you buy a certain product, but like many people I was drawn in by the Pearl Drops offer of your money back if you are unsatisfied with the product. So I thought I'd give it a go.
I payed about £4 for the Pearl Drops Advanced Whitening from my local Pharmacist. The bottle itself is quite a strange but striking and at first I was quite astonished at how little you got for quite a high price (50ml). But I bought it nevertheless, with the money back guarantee always at the back of my mind...
Oven Cleaner? Paint Stripper? No....Toothpaste!!
Review of Tesco Extra Care Extreme Whitening by
bigush
Advantages: Cheap and effective
Disadvantages: Don't swallow!
...I smoke roll-ups. I drink bible black coffee. I drink cheap red wine. I sometimes have Guinness and black pudding for breakfast. Yes, I know I don't have long to live but while I'm here I would like to do something about the stains that this lot cause on my teeth.
Because of my auto-destructive lifestyle I have to use the more serious end of the toothpaste spectrum; the tubes with 'whitening' written on the side. I used to use Eucryl tooth powder until they discovered it was basically sandblasting the enamel off your teeth. These days I go for the aforementioned 'whitening' toothpastes.
As well as being suicidal I'm tight-fisted so I tend to buy own-brands, their usually being much cheaper and my own-brand of choice up until recently was Superdrug Whitening, 89p. However, on a trot around Tescos last week I noticed they do two...
TOOTH WHITENING SOLUTIONS
Review of Everything that starts with T ... by
evansuk
Advantages: White teeth and attractive smile.
Disadvantages: Solutions can be dangerous if precautions are not taken.
...of toothpaste and whitening products.
There are many other cheaper and less effective kits available at chemists, which assist in the process of teeth whitening. A 2 week kit can be purchased for around £7.00 at popular chemists such as Boots and Superdrug. One such kit, which has proven useful is the “Brilliance” tooth whitening system. The kit includes a small bottle of “accelerator” and “whitening gel”. The accelerator is in liquid form and is applied to the teeth via a sponge nib (much like a bingo marker!). Afterwards, generous amounts of the gel are applied to the teeth for 10 minutes. The results can be seen after several applications. Each kit provides enough accelerator and gel to see noticeable results, but not staggering ones.
McLeans “Whitening” toothpaste seems to be the leader of whitening toothpastes...
