...Those of you who have read any of my beauty product reviews might remember that many of them cite a make up guru - ie: mother. Well here she is again! The mother does nails as part of her beauty room business, and has used Seche Vite on clients and for personal use for years. She bought it from Sally's hair and beauty supplies but it is widely availabe over the internet - I bought mine from ebay at just under £6 per bottle (plus postage) for a 0.5oz bottle. Basically, the formula penetrates through the nail polish to the base coat forming a single solid coating over the nail plate for a very durable finish. The official blurb is that its guaranteed not to yellow which I have indeed found to be true. It also says it absolutely will not chip - sadly I have NEVER found a product that eliminates chipping, and seche vite, wonderful...

Flat Coat Retrievers - a tribute.

...well known products ends. ONE COAT PAINT I have been painting for many years, and am aware of what it takes to produce good quality work. For a start, areas that are glossed are generally made of wood, i.e. windows, doors, door casings, skirtings, and areas that need ample protection and ease of cleaning with a damp cloth, areas that need to be able to take the wear and tear of family life. When makers claim that their product is a one coat paint, I am always wary, although open minded because at some stage in the future, no-one can be certain that the manufacturers may come up with a paint that does everything, i.e. prime, undercoat and top coat all in one go, although for the time being, its a little like science fiction and has not happened yet. Half Hearted Half Coated Triple Chocolate Cookies

Advantages: Taste Good, not a ba price for luxury cookies
Disadvantages: very rich, can be a bit sickly and I know there are better versions out there

...I first tried Tesco finest Half Coated Triple Baked Cookies at work in the office last year. I remember thinking at the time, 'flippin heck boss, you have excelled yourself this time'. Our office floor were known for being biscuit fiends but generally stuck to digestives and malted milks and ginger nuts. This were a fine treat and my boss always used to have a box stashed in his drawer and would bring them out conveniently when there were only seven of us in the office, meaning the onere was each for everyone and then an extra one for me and him! I was pregnant and was being well looked after at work shall we say. The day I was going on Maternity Leave he handed me a box of these cookies; I was dismal when I opened the box to start munching and found a stapler inside instead. The cheek.
