Torch, a real page turner of a novel

Advantages: A fast moving, gripping novel.
Disadvantages: Gruesome subject matter

The Plot This is the second book in a series about Dr Rhona MacLeod, who is a forensic scientist working with the Police in Glasgow. The book commences with bodies and buildings being torched in Glasgow. Dr MacLeod's colleagues in the Edinburgh Police have also noticed similar cases and as the cases bear more than a passing coincidence, Rhona finds herself commuting between Edinburgh and Glasgow as she becomes more and more embroiled in the fire investigations. The timing of the novel is New Year. Edinburgh is building up to the Hogmanay...

Petzl Tac Tikka Head Torch

Advantages: Robust, easy to use and good light
Disadvantages: none

...There are so many torches out there at a cheaper price offering the same features so they say. However having owned some other brands that claim to be as good, i found that they often broke, were of poor build quality and were not as bright as the ac Tikka Head Torch. This head torch is of excellent quality, both build quality and light quality. It is easy to operate and its 4 LED's provide bright light where ever it is needed. It is also extremely robust, being weather proof and tough. The LED's also emit light on a frequency that does not interfere with any night vision equipment which is a great feature for anyone in the Military. The flip down red screen helps you keep your night vision without blinding you which is a great feature. A great torch....

Review of Petzl Tac Tikka Head Torch

One of the best all-round head torches

Advantages: extremely bright, battery warning light, relatively light
Disadvantages: rather expesive, does have a larger battery pack than other models

...I bought this head torch for a round the world tour this year and it held up wonderfully. At first it seems a very expensive product and in many respects it is - you are lucky to get it for less than $100 or 50 quid. However within a few weeks of using it you realise its worth. Unlike previous head - torches i have owned this one came with a separate battery back, containing 3 AA batteries, which is connected to the strap and sits at the back of your head. At first i thought that this would be cumbersome and annoying but in fact, when wearing it, you don't even realise it is there. Apart from the the 2 possible negative aspects of price and the battery pack , listed above, i really cannot think of any other downsides, however the advantages are numerous as i will detial below: 1. The Gadgetshop Powered Torch, does what is says on the tin

Advantages: Cheap, works well.
Disadvantages: Looks are a bit dated.

...This torch provides an eco friendly solution to batteries, reliant upon the renewable energy source of your wrist. The torch provides a strong beam considering its size, yet its seethrough appearance is a bit naf. However this torch does serve as a useful tool when a powercut strikes, as it saves you after having found a torch from having to then find the batteries necssary to power it! Furthermore this style of torch will save money upon having to buy new batteries. The torch requires minimal effort from shaking in order to get a strong beam and the length of time required before a further shake is required is about twenty minuted (depending upon how often the torch is switched on an off). All round it is a clever gadget at a fitting price....

A Superb Little Torch!

...I bought my maglite a couple of years ago. Since I do quite a lot of camping and going to music festivals, I thought it would be a good idea to invest in a good torch to see me through my camping adventures! The maglite comes in a black plastic protective case. The case is rectangular in shape, it is about 17cm in length and 10cm in breadth and probably about 3cm thick. It has 'Mini Maglite' written across the front of it. This opens up to reveal a short furry grey haired plastic covered inner, which has two storage compartments in it. One where the batteries go, there is space for two AA batteries here, which means that if you have two in your torch, then you can have extras to carry around with you that you won't lose in the bottom of your bag! The next storage compartment, directly underneath the one for the batteries is where...

An essential item for taking to the Dark Side of the Loft !!!

Advantages: Functional and fun ... a cleverly designed and well made gadget !!!
Disadvantages: Despite being a torch it will probably be used as a toy (by adults) !!!

...none of them had, however, was a Lightsaber Replica Torch ... a gadget I recently discovered at a Sci-Fi Convention !!! ~~~ THE WESCO STAR WARS LIGHTSABER TORCH ~~~ In a nutshell ... Wesco have produced an impressive gadget that is both highly functional whilst also being fun !!! The product (as an actual torch) has been produced to a high standard. The beam itself is powered by 3 AAA batteries and has 4 super bright LEDs (with a lifespan of 1000+ hours) that emit a cool but clear beam of bright blue light. I have used this torch outside at night time and up in the loft (which is pitch black) and it has provided an ultra bright beam of light similar to that produced by my Mag-Lite torch. It enabled me to see in the dark and the light it created was clear and relaible...

Review of Wesco Star Wars Lightsaber Torch

I've seen the Light......and it's Rechargeable

Advantages: Rechargeable, Everlasting Bulb, Convenient, Environmentally Friendly, Reasonably Priced
Disadvantages: Only that you can't recharge it silently

...Torches. Very handy to have for those power cut emergencies, forays into the cellar or up into the attic, breakdowns in the middle of nowhere in the dead of night or camping trips but why is it that the batteries are always dud when you need them (or have been "borrowed" for the TV remote control)? Our girls have a fascination for torches so "Santa" had brought them a couple of cheap battery operated torches for their Christmas. Being only three years old though, our daughters had a tendency to leave their torches switched on and the batteries didn't last very long. Luckily my brother, Uncle David, trumped Santa and bought them a couple of these rechargeable torches. It's an ingenious idea. The 18cm/7" long torch is charged simply by shaking it up and down. No replacement batteries, no electricity or car cigarette lighter...

Review of Gadgetshop Shake Powered Torch

Instrumentally Intriguing

Advantages: The music is intelligent, the musicianship fantastc.
Disadvantages: Little use of vocals, only seven tracks.

...It was in 2004 that the American rock band Torche released its debut album; in 2007 the band followed it up with the release of 7 track mini-album 'In Return' through the Rock Action record label though and contained here is a grand total of 20 minutes of music. It's a pretty interesting seven track release and if you like your rock music to be played hard and heavy then you should quite appreciate the sound of Torche. This mini-album storms into action with 'Warship', it's a great way to begin the release and Torche does here show itself to be an absolutely excellent band. Vocals are barely used in this track and the instrumental side of things is therefore left to do the vast majority of the talking. It's an enjoyable track and if you like heavy instrumental rock music then the music should most definitely be of appeal...
