Tori Amos live with her Strange Little Girls
Review of Amos, Tori - Strange Little Girls on Tour by
NetMary_from_Germany
Advantages: great and wonderful concert, Tori
Disadvantages: too short, doesn't work as bootleg
...Hi everybody!
I wrote the following text for a journalism course on university, posted it in ciao Germany and translated it. So, it isn't that personal but I think between the lines you can see if I liked the concert or not. As extra hint: I love Tori...!!
She's on fire
Tori Amos causes firework of emotions
Tori Amos, who’s musical career began at the age of 13 in a homosexual bar in Washington DC, has been on tour 2001. Taking her latest album “Strange Little Girls” as reason for the tour she delighted many German fans, for example on December, 12th in Frankfurt / Main.
„`97 Bonnie & Clyde“ was the opening song of all her concerts. Behind a blue illuminated, black curtain, which dropped not before the last chord, Tori Amos spoke the story of the man who had killed his wife...

Tori Amos, tales of a librarian.
Review of Tales Of A Librarian (A Tori Amos Collection) - Tori Amos by
rachieb123
Advantages: Compilation of her greatest hits.
Disadvantages: Some of the songs are a bit dissapointing, but thats just a personal opinion.
...Tori Amos falls into a category of music that is slightly unusual. She sings with passion about her life's journey, all of which is uncensored, she doesn't gloss over tha bad times and over emphasis the good, shes brutally honest, refusing to settle for anything less than the truth in her songs. I think that's what makes them so inspiring, and so appealing. People want to hear that hey its not always great, but it can be sometimes, not that life is a fun filled bubble of fun all the time, those songs just ring hollow.
Amos has gone back to the singles on this cd, and changed them slightly, offering a new taste and sound for her listeners, even someone who already owns the previous albums can still get something new from this album. The only two which were not changed are "Angels" and "Snow Cherries from France" which I believe were...

Travel throughout America with Tori Amos
Review of Scarlet's Walk (Limited Edition/+DVD) - Tori Amos by
Krislynn
Advantages: Love the packaging and the music
Disadvantages: none
...First, I have to tell you about what is all in it. the DVD, the CD, and a map of Scarlet's (tori's character in this CD) travels throughout America. She is taking a serious look at the history of America through a young woman's perpsective. And given Tori's native american and european background, she gives us very rich, although dark history. I got a tiny frog in my limited edition, but I know there were several different charms out there. Ths pictures of Tori are absolutely gorgeous! She is out in the middle of nowwhere and behind her is a vast land that she is going to explore. The DVD shows her singing during soundcheck and some concert scenes. It was OK but I prefer the pure and polished sounds of the CD.
"Amber Waves" which is not only a reference to america but also to the porn star character in boogie nights (did...

Tori's 9th Masterpiece
Review of American Doll Posse - Tori Amos by
Richpaca
Advantages: Full of great new material
Disadvantages: Far too long
...Tori Amos is ne of those women who has the power to influence anyone, as long as they give her their attention, which isn't difficult.
Once you hear her, you're hooked.
I've been a fan of this woman since I was very young, listening to classics like Cornflake Girl and Crucify blasting from my older sister's stereo, and longing to be able to play like her.
As I matured, as did Tori's music, and as soon as I was buying my own CDs, I was buying each new Tori album. Since 2000, the albums have been mediocre, with nothing as intense as previous work.
Until now.
American Doll Posse rocks.
Within this album, Tori explores 5 different parts of a woman. It's obvious which personalities and strengths come from which "doll" in the posse, who are explored in depth in the lyrics booklet.
I will now describe the album's highlights...

The best of Tori
Review of Tori Amos - Fade To Red DVD by
salva_nos
Advantages: Almost complete video collection
Disadvantages: none
...If you like Tori Amos, then this is a must have DVD. It is a collection of 21 of her videos spread over two discs.
All of the tracks are remastered in 5.1 surround sound so they sound great and there is also an audio commentary by Tori herself.
On disc one, you will be treated to the likes of crucify, a sorta fairytale, silent all these years and my favourite on the disc- Jackies strength.
On disc two, there is caught a lite sneeze, china (which is stunning), raspberry swirl and pretty good year, among others.
These tracks are just a selection and in total, there are 21 of her videos but i believe that there are a couple missing.
The videos are what you would expect of Tori Amos, quirky and at times, totally barmy (just like the woman herself).
I absolutely adore Tori's music, but i am aware that she is an acquired taste...

Mystical yet musically talented... Tori
Review of Under The Pink - Tori Amos by
Babytigerjess
Advantages: Beautiful sounding
Disadvantages:
...baby’s alright’ basic adreniline with a powerful voice and the guitar and drums make a real smash at it. Pretty good stuff.
Tori’s songs are a mixture some being soothing and some hard stuff which is all brilliant!
The album inlay is beautifully set with pictures of Tori. There are also lyrics to the songs. The lyrics to ‘Icicle’ aren’t that clear but they’re good enough (don’t complain!!) LoL.
I bought this album coz I love Tori and I heard her for the first time in 98' with 'Spark' which is on her other album 'Choirgirl' (Buy it!!)
I think any Tori Amos fan would have already grabbed all her albums but if you haven't then I suggest you grab this one. It makes a big hit with me anyway :)...

toris greatest hits
Review of Tales Of A Librarian (A Tori Amos Collection) - Tori Amos by
tilly77
Advantages: the best of
Disadvantages: none
..."Tales of A Librarian' is the definitive song collection from one of the most unique female singer-songwriters currently in operation. Tori has personally revisited and reconditioned the original material, re-tooling the multi-track recordings to offer a new perspective on some of her most beloved songs. In addition, 'Tales Of A Librarian' includes a pair of brand-new songs - 'Angels' and 'Snow Cherries From France' - as well as newly recorded renditions of two rare early B-sides, 'Mary' and 'Sweet Dreams'. As sequenced by Tori herself, the songs - which she has always considered to be her children - form a unique personal narrative and a breathtaking view of an extraordinary body of work."
Precious Things (4.29)
Angels (4.27)
Silent All These Years (4.10)
Cornflake Girl (5.05)

Girls who are boys
Review of Strange Little Girls - Tori Amos by
dreamerz
Advantages: Some interesting and intriguing choices of covers, A few excellent tracks, 'Real Men', 'Strange Little Girl'
Disadvantages: Too much concept not enough content, Some pretty tedious songs, 'I'm Not in Love', 'Raining Blood'
...In anticipation of Tori's forthcoming new (and original) studio album I thought I'd take a look at this her last release. Now I’ll make no excuses before I begin this review, Tori Amos is one of my favourite artists and when I first heard news that a new studio album was on the way I’ll admit to feeling the odd palpitation of excitement. However, when further details of the release became forthcoming, a slight feeling of disappointment reared its ugly head. You see ‘Strange Little Girls’ is a not an ordinary studio album, instead Amos has chosen to bring out a collection of covers rather then a set of original material. Aside from the fact that it is Amos’ own songs that primarily form the basis of my love for her work, the words ‘covers album’ is usually enough to send a chill down the spine of any self respecting music fan. Infact...

Follow the Scarlet Road
Review of Scarlet's Walk - Tori Amos by
zerbine28
Advantages: Tori is once more at her best.
Disadvantages: Not enough angst for a few.
...On first hearing Tori’s mammoth, 18-track album released well over a year ago, the appeal was not immediate. Yet I could sense an intangible beauty buried within, just waiting to be found.
Now I find Scarlet’s Walk to be Tori Amos at her finest once again. It’s taken possession of me much as Little Earthquakes did in 1992. (Earthquakes is the first album by the Tori Amos we’ve all come to know. Her supposedly subpar goth-metal album, Y Kant Tori | | |
