Torremolinos - I like it.

Advantages: Lively and Central for other parts of Southern Spain
Disadvantages: Pretty commercialised

...My husband and I have been going to Torremolinos for 6 years now. If we had the preverbal lottery win I'd be there right now. We go mostly at the end of April when the weather starts to heat up, and the majority of people start to arrive. When we leave the temperature is hitting 34. We fly into Malaga Airport, the main airport for the south coast. A clean, airy and well organised airport you arrive and set off un-flustered. On the way out from the airport the tour buses are straight ahead and the taxi's are to the right, under cover. A taxi journey is only about £11 to Torremolinos, which is nearest big resort town from Malaga. Torremolinos although very commercialised [as are all the resorts on the South coast] has evolved as an appealing resort noted for its clean sandy beaches, wide choice of hotels and restaurants...

Hotel Pez Espada: A great break in Torremolinos

Advantages: Great location, clean and very good looking hotel. Great food. Relaxing
Disadvantages: Bar prices were a little high but will not spoil the holiday!

Finally ambition takes a real hold on Alfredo who has found his vocation in life and he writes the script for a movie which his boss agrees to finance – “Torremolinos 73”. Their ideas are not quite the same but this provides some of the dramatic tension as the movie draws to a close. As the hubs gets more and more into the role and they become well-off the narrative interest lies in whether their relationship will hold in the face of these pressures or whether the tensions this unwanted fame and their childlessness not to mention Alfredo’s increasing artistic pretensions.will lead Carmen to break up the marriage. The film is funny, no doubt about it. It also raises behind the humour some important issues, feminism, relations, ambition...

Sol Timor Hotel - Great Location and Great Value

Advantages: Location, Price, Staff
Disadvantages: Not the height of luxury

...rather than the facilities. When we go abroad, we like to see what the place we're visiting has to offer rather than the hotel and this is a great place to do that. The hotel is right on the beach front, where you can hire sunbeds (with super thick mattresses that make snoozing in the sun a must!) and take part in watersports. Round the corner is the Marina, where there are some fantastic restaurants offering everything from tapas to seafood, chinese to indian and Burger King too (!). Be sure to visit Pacino's, an excellent Italian restaurant with brilliant staff, great views and delicious food at very affordable prices. It's also easy enough to get to Torremolinos centre, for shopping, by taxi, or if you're feeling energetic, an hour long walk. And if you're looking for sight seeing, there's a travel shop just outside the hotel...

Good value long weekend break

...Hotel Flamingo Torremolinos, also sometimes called the Roc Hotel Flamingo Torremolinos. Not sure if this hotel is part of the Roc hotel chain. Hotel rating *** My rating *** Airport 4 miles Train station 200 mtrs Bus station 400 mtrs Torremolinos centre 300 mtrs Beach 10 minutes downhill. 15 minutes back uphill. I have had a 3 night and a 5 night all inclusive break at the Flamingo, both times in January. It is very close to Malaga Airport (4miles) and the taxi fare ranges between 8 and 12 euros from the airport and 10 to 14 euros from hotel to airport, no idea why but the taxi driver just kept pressing buttons and the price kept going up after we arrived at our destination. Maybe their is a spanish taxi driver who is a member of Ciao and can explain the tariffs to us. First impressions when you pull up to the hotel...

hotel sol principe is fit for a king.

Advantages: everything about the place is an advantage.
Disadvantages: the non smoking policy (for some)

...With the exception of Tenerife I usually tend to holiday places only once, preferring to try new places rather than return to ones I have already visited. I have been to torremolinos twice now though and a large part of the reasoning behind that is this wonderful hotel (Sol Principe). This hotel is situated alongside the beach of Playa mar approximately 2km outside the city of torremolinos. It is served by Malaga airport which is a little over 4 miles away and takes only a 15 minute transfer by coach to reach. On approach to this hotel the first thing that caught my eye was the size of the grounds it stood in but it soon became apparent why. This hotel is actually part of a complex which includes as well as the hotel itself the Apartments Sol Principito, a fairly large private car park, a sports area, gardens, a supermarket...

Argggh its on my foot!!

Advantages: Good location, great views of the sea, reasonably priced
Disadvantages: Tiny kitchens, ants in the bathroom

...to complain about. The air conditioning was pretty complicated (although we might just be thick!) but the rest of the review is going to be positive. I have to say the hotel is in a wonderful location for the beach, as it's literally on your front door. My only note of caution would be for those who wish to go into the centre of Torremolinos which is directly behind the hotel and involves quite a bit of walking up a number of steps (200 I believe) although they are gradual and winding with several little shops on the sides it can be tiring. If this is a problem however you can get the lift to the centre for 50 cents which is great if you don't fancy the walk. The rooms did have an excellent sea view and this is the case for every single room and it was a pleasure to watch the world go by from the balcony. There was a large pool...

A world away from the Costa Del Sol
