Torviscas Playa is Top!
Advantages: Great location, Near beach, Attentive & happy staff and good food.
Disadvantages: Cold Pool, Built up Area, Noisy Road, Dinner gets packed
...We have just returned from the Torviscas Playa (September 2007). On first impressions, I wasn't sure as the building looking like it needed a little paint. However, once inside the hotel is clean and well kept with shiny marble floors everywhere. The Reception staff are efficient and really friendly. On arrival the Hotel supplies a small token orange drink, which we thought was a nice touch. The Hotel is in Costa Adeje and is very near to shops, bars, restaurants and a pharmacist. Playa das Americas is not that far away but you would need a taxi. There is even a Pharmacist across the road. Its very close to the beach and there are steps from the hotel, so not good for prams but you can get to the beach another way, which takes an extra 5mins. The Reception and bar area on the ground floor is very spacious with comfortable sofas...

Summer sun at the Playa!
Advantages: Staff, cleanliness, rooms, food etc
Disadvantages: n/a
...If there's one thing I looked forward to all year, its a summer holiday. We try out best to make sure we go away every summer, and to date we haven't had very many bad experiences with the hotels we have picked.
Last year, our choice of Holiday was to Tenerife. We booked our holiday at the very last minute. We were due to fly on July 6th, and at the beginning of April, we went into the travel agents and booked.
Our choice of hotel, was the Iberostar Torviscas Playa, Costa Adeje, Tenerife.
**
Travel Agents Recommendation/Booking.
We started browsing through brochures and searching online for a summer holiday in around January. We came to the agreement that Tenerife would be our choice of hotel. We studied the prices in the brochures and haggled online, however although the offers online looked very good value for money, we...

Excellent hotel and facilities
Advantages: Lovely hotel in a nice area
Disadvantages: Could possibly have better evening entertainment
...a week.
There are plenty of activities for both children and adults in the day. The animacion team are really friendly and try to involve people in activities but are not a all pushy if you don't want to take part.
They do rifle shooting, darts and other competitions and give out medals for winners.
The evening entertainment mainly consists of the animacion team doing shows, with a couple of evenings of african dancing and magic acts. Although it was not to my taste, plenty of people enjoyed it. I would have liked to have seen more singers and groups.
Although there are children there it was not rowdy or overcrowded and was a nice relaxing holiday.
Surrounding area is pleasant in the Torviscas area, well away from the hustle and bustle of playa de las americas. The hotel is right by the promenade and a stones throw from the beach. In...

Apartment Complex in Tenerife
Advantages: Clean and spacious apartments.
Disadvantages: Too noisy and packed around the hotel area especially around the pool.
....
I didn't like Playa d' las Americas much but the torviscas and fanabe area were lovely. Some people hire a car to get around, but to be honest if you like walking then ten minutes walk to some areas of the resort is pleasant on an nice summers' evening and afterwards we always got a taxi back to the hotel. Plenty of live entertainment everywhere.
I would go back to Tenerife, but not to this particular hotel. I would prefer somewhere more quieter next time....

Club Atlantis, Costa Adeje, Tenerife
Advantages: Quiet and relaxing
Disadvantages: Dingy room and pool area dominated by timeshare owners
...My boyfriend and I visited this hotel last summer, having gotten a bargain price through Travel Republic. I think we paid around £150 for the room for the week, which was a good price for a four star hotel in Costa Adeje, one of Tenerife's more family and couple based upmarket resorts.
When we arrived it all looked fairly posistive - the reception area was clean and spacious if a little dated and the welcome we received was nice if a little brusque. This became clearly the way staff talked to guests - they bordered on rude at times in spite of our efforts to speak Spanish to them because of their limited English. There was a small shop selling standards such as bottles of water and chocolate so we got some snacks (overpriced but what you expect in a hotel) after our journey and headed off to our room.
We were situated...

Las Dalias Hotel Costa Adeje Tenerife
Advantages: great pool area and good entertainment
Disadvantages: on a slight hill not good for people with walking difficulties
...this is by far one of the best hotels i have stayed in in tenerife, it was so good i have been three times this year, all inclusive is the best way to go with this hotel as it has so much to offer in the range of food, we have stayed all inclusive three times now and never get bored of the variety of food on offer. hotel has three swimming pools which at most times of the year are absaloutley freezing, for a couple of months between october and january one of the pools is heated but is usually filled to the brim with children.
Hotel has fantastic entertainment every night for children and adults at least two shows every night and a childrens club to keep them entertained most of the day, other activities such as water polo bingo archery and riffle shooting take place around the pool during the day to keep everyone entertained. if...

A Taster about Tenerife Pearl Centre
Advantages: Nice Loos!
Disadvantages: An oyster must die to gain the pearl.
...I am a Vegetarian but one place that I love to visit on the Island of Tenerife is Tenerife Pearl. I rarely buy pearls due to how they are obtained but I love to look around Tenerife Pearl. There are many fascinating facts to learn about pearls as well as some extremely beautiful sites to see. The centre also sells semi-precious gems, watches, chains and other souvenirs. In addition to the beautiful hand crafted masterpieces (The carnival costumes for instance) that you would expect from this internationally valued company, Tenerife Pearl also produce a whole range of cheaper costume jewellery, to fit even the smallest of budgets budget. Many of these pieces make spectacular and yet also affordable gifts for friends and other family members. With prices well under those of the 'High Street Jewellers' even by Tenerife standards, there are...

Tenerife - The Good The Bad and The Ugly
Advantages: Spectacular and unusual scenery. Duty-free
Disadvantages: Large resorts are lager-lout territory.
...We went to Puerto de Santiago/Los Gigantes, which is northwest of the two most ?popular? resorts, Playa de las Americas & Los Cristianos - muchos Ingleses!
These two, in my view, are awful, and visitors going there for the first time expecting something with a foreign feel will be disappointed by the usual rash of "See Leeds v Barcelona live tonite on Sky" cafes and bars. What they do have is beaches. It?s not just us either. The Germans are catered for in a similar way. I suppose Tenerife is like the best and the worst of southern Spain in that respect. Los Christianos does have one saving grace - it?s the ferry port to La Gomera, one of the other islands, which makes for a fascinating day out in itself.
Puerto de Santiago hasn't got much of a beach but the pools in the hotels & apartments are usually fine. It has a good...

Tenerife..Paradise Found
Advantages: Plenty of shops, bars and restaurants near by.
Disadvantages: Can be a little noisy if you are near the Varonicas centre.
...Tenerife..Paradise Found,Well that's my opinion anyway.
I believe Tenerife is one of those places, that you either love or you hate. I have heard many varied opinions from friends and family, some good and some bad.
I would now like to give you my own opinion on Tenerife.
Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands and its's location, just off the north coast of Africa, gives it a fabulous year round climate.
Tenerife is very much an Island of contrasts. In the south, which is known as the sunny side you will find the more well known resorts which include Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos, the landscape is very baron and dry. Plants mainly consist of cacti and palm trees, except around the hotels and apartments, where you will find a more varied variety of flowering plants, due to the easy access to water...

Hotel Noelia Sur, Tenerife
Advantages: Quality, Family Friendly Hotel
Disadvantages: Non really, just needs to sort out the sunbed situation
...I have just got back from Tenerife and staying at the Hotel Noelia Sur. My family go to Tenerife every year and this is the second time we have stayed at the Noelia. It has always been known as a quality hotel, but like many hotels it has its blips.
Our flight was with Monarch airlines and to be honest it did leave certain things to be desired. I was told to expect to pay £10.00 for the inflight meals, which basicaly are crap, but Monarch tried to hit us with a £15.00 bill for them.As there were 7 in my party, this would have been an extra £105.00. I honestly do not think there is a need for such a price, as this would bring in more than £5000 revenue for the company, just for the inflight meals. They already charge a price of £3.00 for a 330 ml can of beer that costs 60p in an off license. On top of this there is a hire charge of £1...
