...The Toshiba Equium P200-1ED, is probably one of the best laptops which I have owned. Managed to get a great bargain at PC World (part of DSG International plc), laptop, laptop bag, anti-virus software, microsoft office 2007, wireless router and wireless printer for just £499.99. The laptop was well packaged, and includes the various accesories for power supply e.t.c. First set up took a while as I installed the various features. A bit of patience is worth it as the machine eventually springs to life. ...Although it stretches the definition of "laptop" to the limits of credulity -- this thing is BIG -- in terms of features and performance you're not going to be disappointed. The first thing that strikes you about this laptop will be the screen -- a massive 17" widescreen (16:10) monster (about the size of an A3 sheet of paper) with fantastic brightness and clarity; the native WXGA resolution (1440 x 900) is enough that you can fit plenty on the screen for serious work, and works perfectly for entertainment purposes. Toshiba's "LCD Overdrive" technology means that even playing fast paced games produces no visible "smearing" that can plague lesser LCD screens. In the raw power stakes the 1.7GHz P4-M may not be the fastest in terms of clock speed, but the 2MB L2 cache and pipelining optimisations mean that in most cases it performs... Read review

...DVD was launched commercial over 10 years ago. The major manufacturers made the mistake of not licensing the technology appropriately and subsequently the cost of DVD players has fallen dramatically within the past 5 years. Some people may find it hard to justify the cost of a DVD player when they can picked up for £30, but I am going to write this review to communicate the advantages of having a medium range quality DVD player. So firstly, why Toshiba? Toshiba have an excellant reputation for producing quality products for a great price. There are some manufacturers such as Sony, that in my opinion rely too much on their brand image to sell the good. Toshiba both provide an excellant product, more importantly quality and value. ...it on the laptop feels sturdy and safe and like it will last, which is reassuring as some of the other laptops felt like they would break if you opened it too quickly. I tested the weight of it in the shops and found that it was also lighter than most other laptops. The Toshiba A200 range was also quite a high performance laptop when I was using it. I managed to benchmark the laptops effectively by using the inbuilt feature inside Windows Vista, where it can show you a rating of how well your computer performance, a score out of 10. It is called a windows experience score and is quite comprehensive as it tests the performance of the processor, ram, video / graphics card, hard drive space, and can give a clear breakdown on where the computer is weakest. There isn't enough room in the compact 1.4kg case for anything other than the hard disk - which is removable for easy repair or upgrading - so as usual the floppy drive is external.
