Toshiba 42" rear projection TV P42W23P
Review of Toshiba 42PW23P by
crebera
Advantages: Huge Screen, Price
Disadvantages: Can only be viewed from certain angles
...After deciding my poxy 20 inch tv was too small for the living room I went shopping for a replacement. I visited my local Dixons and spent half an hour looking at the various sets they had on offer. The massive projection TVs caught my eye and I immediately fell in love with the 42” Toshiba. It looked superior to the other projection sets there and was an absolute bargain. I paid £899 for mine but recently have found it selling for £849. It is fantastic value for money, where else are you going to get 42 inches for less then £850? I thought about buying the equivalent plasma set, but at more then three times the price I decided to go for the projection.
It was delivered 3 days later and was that big I couldn’t get it out of the box without cutting down the side of it. It took all of 2 minutes to set it up and away we went...

Toshiba...leading us into a world of technology!
Review of Toshiba 42Z3030D by
cobainkurdt
Advantages: WOW...too many!!! Performance A*
Disadvantages: How dare you!
...INTRODUCTION
Toshiba have always been an excellent brand, along with a brilliant product portfolio (diverse range of products.) This product is a real treat: I use it ti watch HD (High Definition) movies, play games on HD ,watch home-movies I have made on my Toshiba Camileo Pro Camcorder and even use it to surf the net sometimes, instead of my Sony KDL.
RANGE OF FEATURES
Features of the Toshiba 42Z3030D (Z series): This product has 3 HDMI inputs, PC connectivity, along with 2 Scarts, Component and Composite video inputs, S-video input (in this day and age it is certainly an excellently designed product with all features of a successful LCD tv.) Synergising this product's frame rate allows this product deemed flawless.( A large problem with many LCD tvs is that they do not possess enough frame rates which causes poor...

The IBM T42 Legend
Review of ThinkPad T42 2373 - Pentium M 735 1.7 GHz - 14.1" TFT by
Jaypetch
Advantages: Reliable, Well Made, Great features
Disadvantages: Older technology
...after a year look blemished and the screens tend to wobble around as hinges start to give up. But mine is still looking good as it was the day I got it. I had a Sony vaio previously and had nothing but problems. The next laptop I buy will defiantly be an IBM.
I used to see Hundreds of laptops a day as I used to repair and built spec laptops for siemens for use in large corporations and I have sent 1000 of IBM T42's out and also Toshibas and Compaq's. Every month we would receive hundreds of Compaq's and Toshibas for repair I think I only repaired two IBM T42 one a key had fallen off and the Other the screen had been smashed by standing on it. That's what caused me to buy one.
A lot of my friends have bought cheap laptops from supermarkets recently with higher speed processors and large specs and had nothing but problems and they seem...

ERAY 42" Plasma TV
Review of Erae EPT 42 Q 0 AP by
mr.blue.sky
Advantages: Super HD quality, great for gaming
Disadvantages: No HDMI connections, poor built in audio.
...ERAE EPT 42" Plasma flat screen HD ready TV.
I bought this TV about 6 months ago after a long 12 year relationship with an old (but ultra reliable) Toshiba 25" 4x3 aspect ratio surround sound unit. (Now resigned to the job of alternative bedroom entertainment!)
Strangely, the purchase of this TV was from the same Currys large Dept' store here in Swindon (paaahh) as the old Toshiba I'd bought in 1996, only now the salesmen seem to be more interested in selling the "extended warrantee" load of old rubbish than the item its self… No thanks, I'll stick with the 1-year guarantee it comes with matey. I recon if all these things function for a year without any problems…you got a good un!
I'd been thinking of upgrading for a while and as I'd been granted a new credit card + balance transfer @ 0% for the next 12 months, so the temptation...

Disadvantages: Not Multi Region,Only DVD-R(W) , remote on big side

Plays formats DVD, DVD-RAM, DVD-R/RW, CD, CD-R/RW
Records formats DVD-RAM, DVD-R/RW
Timeslip function Yes
MY OPINION
I was one of the 1st people to have Sky digital but seeing the subscriptions go from £10 upto £42 When I finally cancelled my contract, I thought I could no longer justify the price any longer.
I thought I would miss Sky but surprisingly I haven't.....Freeview is an excellent option.....
I have owned 3 dvd recorders altogether , this is the 3rd one and the BEST, the other 2 DVD recorders were both Phillips,1 with a 80GB Hard Disk and the other just a recorder. This unit in my opinion has much more to offer than the other Phillips - (DVDR520H & DVDR610) so much so I sold the Phillips Hard drive the other month......
I have Freeview built into my Toshiba Television so I wanted a unit that I...

Toshiba Rear Projection TV.
Review of Toshiba 42WH46P by
smcccc
Advantages: Looks good with good picture and sound quality.
Disadvantages: Big and bulky at the back.
...of functions that I probably would'nt use and would only leave me confused, so thats why I chose this one.
This is a 42 inch rear projection TV with 100Hz processing and is also a CRT model (Cathode Ray Tube)
Not exactly sure what CRT means but these models will give better picture and colour quality and a longer life-span than an LCD or Plasma screen,
It comes in a subtle metalic silver colour and has Teletext with fast text,
the remote control is the same silver colour and is very easy to use and understand,
Looking at the front of the TV, there is only one press button for on/off or standby, apart from that the front is flush with no other buttons.
After delivery, setting up was easy enough, once I accessed the on screen menu I was given step by step instructions and found them very easy to follow.
The screen on this TV is massive...

Neovia NEOPL-3950 42" HD plasma
Review of Neovia NEOPL-4950 42" Plasma TV by
Pomerov2000
Advantages: Value for money. 42". High Definition. Sound. Good spec.
Disadvantages: Buzzing sound. Some banding. Black levels. No-name brand
...The TV is assembled near Paris. The parts are from South Korea, who seem to be competing head-on with the Japanese these days. Neovia are relatively unknown, but I always buy on the basis of specification and value for money. So that ruled out spending 4,400 for the same sized Pioneer beside it.
A few years ago a 42 inch screen was considered huge, and would have cost ten grand. Now it is becomng more standard. Its about the right size for proper cinema if you are going to sit 8 to 10 feet away. If you've got a bigger screen, then good for you. If you've got a smaller screen, then pull up your chair...
Bought this in the 2006 January sales, and saved 600 euros (was 2,300)
It just about meets the criteria for a 'HD Ready' TV (most weren't at the time). The set does not have a HD Ready logo on it though.
It's native resolution...

Don't be put off by the low price
Review of Toshiba 42 X 3030 D by
Diggyzed
Advantages: Cheap, 1080p, good sound and great picture
Disadvantages: No instructions on attcahing stand to TV
...strip on the side. The remote can be used for a dvd or vcr aswell by just flicking a switch. Overall it is rather siple to use and understand.
Sound
Although the 42x3030d only uses Nicam sound system the Toshiba SRS Wow virtual surround sound really gives you a good experience and the sound quality overall is pretty good.
Picture
Now for the ultimate test. The 42x3030d is 1080p compatible and although many devices cannot handle that resuloution I was fortunate to have a PS3 connected via hdmi which meant I could see the TVs true capabilities. You can really tell the difference between SD and HD even at the distance of about 3.5 metres which was what I was sitting at. When you read those TV size guides you always have to realise that they want you to buy bigger tvs in order to ake more money and 42" is fine for up to even 4...

Slim Toshiba DVD player performs well
Review of Toshiba SD340E by
bowdeni
Advantages: Multi Region, Good picture, slim, durable
Disadvantages: No Scart, not a recorder
...DVD was launched commercial over 10 years ago. The major manufacturers made the mistake of not licensing the technology appropriately and subsequently the cost of DVD players has fallen dramatically within the past 5 years. Some people may find it hard to justify the cost of a DVD player when they can picked up for £30, but I am going to write this review to communicate the advantages of having a medium range quality DVD player.
So firstly, why Toshiba? Toshiba have an excellant reputation for producing quality products for a great price. There are some manufacturers such as Sony, that in my opinion rely too much on their brand image to sell the good. Toshiba both provide an excellant product, more importantly quality and value. 'What hifi' have for many years ranked Toshiba as the best budget DVD player, and the Toshiba SD340E itself...
