Palm m505 - One Great Machine
Review of Palm M505 by
midget1234
Advantages: colour, fast, easy to use, cheap (if you get it in the right place)
Disadvantages: None as far as i can see
...I don’t care what other people tell you the M505 is the best pda there is.
Price
If I got my M505 for £375 like other people have quoted in there Ops I think I would still be please but not as pleased. I got mine for £175 from Ebay and the most I’ve seen it in the shops for is £275.
Value For Money
The palm M505 is great value for money. I see people saying that £350 pocket PC’s have bigger processors so they must be better, but I think this is a load of rubbish. Who would ever use 400mhz to open word documents or play simple (yet fun) games? Pocket PC’s are to powerful, expensive and they don’t have as much software.
The M505 however has all the power you need, has a bright colour screen, an expansion card slot.
My Palm Setup
I use my Palm for doing GCSE coursework and playing games during English lessons :P . I have...

Sony Vaio N505X - Pleasantly Surprised!
Review of Sony VAIO N505X - C 333 MHz - 10.4" TFT by
kenzo123
Advantages: Ultra-portable, Magnesium alloy casing, Runs XP no problem!, cost just £90!
Disadvantages: Battery life is about 1 hour, Low spec by today's standards
...I'm a big fan of electrical gadgets and was browsing ebay when I came across a Sony Vaio N505X Ultra-Portable notebook going cheap - I paid just £90 for mine which was in pristine condition and included the official Vaio external CD-Rom drive, external floppy drive, port replicator, power supply, upgraded to 128MB of ram and upgraded 30GB hard drive. I already have a perfectly adequate desktop computer but thought it would be nice to make more use of my wireless router.
I personally think that the majority of laptops are rather bulky, the N505X, however, is one of the smallest laptops I have ever seen - its only 22mm thick and weighs around 1Kg! This product first hit the shelves about 8 years ago and even now in 2007 it doesn't look all that dated due to its size and clever styling with the large Vaio logo embossed on the lid...

My Palm m505 expierence
Review of Palm M505 by
me_and_me
Advantages: ~
Disadvantages: ~
...I used to have a Windows CE device, the Nokia 9110 palmtop/mobile phone and still have a Palm IIIc. I read a lot of bad things about the M505 color display. After using it very often in the last couple of weeks (car travel, planes, office, etc.) I can't believe that people say the display is a problem. This is far better then my PIIIc. For sure the contrast on the display are less impressive (you getting used to it) but it works in all light conditions. I only use the backlight in about 10% of the time. Sometimes you have to swivel the Palm screen towards a light source to read the display correctly without the backlight (it saves battery).. Outside, this display is incredible clear, with my PIIIc I always had to increase the intensity of the screen to see something.
It is also much faster then the PIIIc, this M505 is really fast...

The Sony Vaio N505x
Review of Sony VAIO N505X - C 333 MHz - 10.4" TFT by
floatingclouds
Advantages: Light, looks great, and it's cheap
Disadvantages: Outdated, low specs, poor battery performance.
...Laptops are in high demand by students, professionals and home users. The specifications available today are truly amazing, but they can carry a high price tag.
The Sony Vaio PCG-N505X is a stylish compact laptop launched in 1998. It weighs a mere 1.2 kg, with a 10.4" TFT screen.
<<<<So how does it look?>>>>
With dimensions of 25.9 cm x 20.8 cm x 2.2 cm the laptop looks sublime.
The laptop casing is silver with a blue battery department at the back of the laptop (where the lid folds).
There are several slots on the left hand side of the device, which include; a memory slot, AC adapter, USB (just the one port), microphone and headphones. The other side of the laptop comprises of the: Power switch (which is a slide button), a reset button - which you press in and finally there is a slot to plug in your external...

Great Sounds from the Zoom 505II
Review of Zoom 505 by
24Sarthe24
Advantages: Compact, cheap as chips, huge editability, great sound
Disadvantages: Not for the professional gigging guitarist
...Its always good to review something cheap, but even better when you're reviewing a gift! As it happens, I'm cheating because although this was a Christmas gift from my wife, I did actually buy it myself!
This is the revised Zoom 505II guitar effects pedal. The major difference from the original Zoom 505 is that it starts you off with 36 effects patches instead of the original's 24.
Its a very small pedal, just 14x12 centimetres, but it packs a great punch. My version is the sleek silver one, but the design is the same, which ever colour you buy. The essence of the device is that it allowes the guitarist to utilise up to 36 patch effects, up to 9 variations being available for use at the same time, and then to edit those patches and save the variations you design. There are even sites on the internet where you can download...

The Sony MZN-505L Review
Review of Sony Net MD Walkman MZ-N505 by
dj1988
Advantages: Sexy, durable and very reliable
Disadvantages: Earphones supplied are not as good as they should be
...I have recently purchased the Sony MZN-505L from richer sounds. I hope the following information is of value to your potential purchase.
---Headphones---
The headphones that are supplied to you are £5er's so i strongly recommend getting a better pair that have more bass included. It's worth it beleive me.
---Performance---
The general perfomance this little beauty gives out is (depending on headphones), very clear and very crisp. This can also depend on the mode that it was recorded in(Stereo, LP2, and LP4)
The best thing about this minidisk is that you can go onto kazaa, download some tracks and transfer them on minidisk, you can get up to 5 hours on 1 minidisk if you record in LP4 mode. You can record in three ways, Stereo (best), LP2 (Moderate), LP4 (OK). All this through a USB, (Universal Serial Bus)
---Battery Life...

Updated DSCF505 is the business
Review of Sony Cyber-shot DSC-F505 by
pitviper
Advantages: Fantastic colours, simple controls, one-touch white-balance
Disadvantages: Requires both hands, makes those photography classes a waste of money
...Sony appear to be leading several real camera makers in this field these days. The Cyber-shot DSC-F505V, an upgraded version of the same model without the 'V' on the end, is certainly one of the highest quality cameras on the market.
The Memory Stick provided with this model is 8Mb, twice the size of the last version, and this means that you can store a respectable amount of shots. Personally, I tend to take pictures to put on web pages more than anything else, so most of my shots don't need to be bigger than 640x480. I was over the moon when I discovered that I'd be able to take 118 photos at this size without having to download them.
For those who like their pictures hi-res and their files large, the Cyber-shot will do you a nice 2240x1680 interpolated image. Now I don't actually know what interpolated means, but when I've taken...

Slim Toshiba DVD player performs well
Review of Toshiba SD340E by
bowdeni
Advantages: Multi Region, Good picture, slim, durable
Disadvantages: No Scart, not a recorder
...DVD was launched commercial over 10 years ago. The major manufacturers made the mistake of not licensing the technology appropriately and subsequently the cost of DVD players has fallen dramatically within the past 5 years. Some people may find it hard to justify the cost of a DVD player when they can picked up for £30, but I am going to write this review to communicate the advantages of having a medium range quality DVD player.
So firstly, why Toshiba? Toshiba have an excellant reputation for producing quality products for a great price. There are some manufacturers such as Sony, that in my opinion rely too much on their brand image to sell the good. Toshiba both provide an excellant product, more importantly quality and value. 'What hifi' have for many years ranked Toshiba as the best budget DVD player, and the Toshiba SD340E itself...

Perfect All-In-One Notebook!
Review of Dell Latitude D505 by
jonoels811201
Advantages: Battery, Mobility, Bluetooth, Wifi.
Disadvantages: On-board graphics.
...I have had my Latitude D505 for over two months, and i am very very happy with the laptop. I wanted a laptop that catered to my demanding needs, and the D505 was it.
My system specs are as follows:-
Intel Pentium-M 1.5GHZ, 512MB DDR Ram, 40GB ATA-100 HDD, CD-Writer/DVD Combo drive(modular), Bluetooth, Wifi(802.11b), 10/100 Network adapter, 56k Modem, S-Video out port, Infra-red, 1x PCMCIA slot, 1394 Port(Firewire), 2x USB 2.0,etc.
I work as a software developer, and the D505 is a perfect notebook for anyone who is in a technical profession, or even those who just demand performance. I would recommend this laptop to ANYBODY!! I have used other laptops( HP, Toshiba and Compaq), and the Dell Latitude D505 is my personal best!!
On the positives, i am very impressed with the performance i got from the primary battery. If you are using...
