Toshiba Satellite Pro A100
Review of Toshiba Satellite Pro A100 - Celeron M 360 1.4 GHz - 15.4" TFT by
yatyit14
Advantages: quite pretty, easy to use
Disadvantages: slow
...not be the model for you. As a brand Toshiba a good, i would recomend them even if you do not pick this model. There are 4 usb ports, you can use wireless internet and netweorking, it has a cd drive and apparently the ability to burn CDs and DVDs, but for some reason i havnt got mine working yet - this may just be me being stupid tho! I am not great with computer hardware, so there are lots more things that this model has that i wouldnt be able to explain,so sorry about that. The laptop is quite light compared to many other laptops. Overall, this laptop it good, if a bit slow....

Advantages: Sound and video!
Disadvantages: Keeps breaking, recommd getting a 2 year warrenty
....
Overall:
Its a lovely laptop for enterainment, i love sound and video quality. Toshiba did a good job designing this laptop but i would not under any circumstance recommend this as a notebook for serious gaming, regular carrying around... pretty heavy and might damage it - dispite the fact it has anti-shock features.

iBook with a Windows OS? Yes way!!
Review of Toshiba Portege A100 - Pentium M 1.4 GHz - 12.1" TFT by
kenny_khaw
Advantages: light, fast, stylish, great sound, 4 usb ports, SD card reader, 3 Years International Warranty
Disadvantages: expensive, no firewire, poor viewing angles, cramped 4 usb ports
...I bought this laptop computer, just around a month ago, before my stupid desktop went KO. Luckily at the time my desktop was dead, i have been using this to do my work, and to store important documents in it before i go overseas.
Before i got this laptop, i have been browsing through the internet to look for a suitable laptop for myself. I tried so hard to look for one and finally, i came to know about this laptop.
This laptop is a new model, only recently released this year(2004) around March/April.
It was the TOSHIBA PORTEGE A100. I did not really know how to pronounce it. I thought it was something like 'por-tage', and i debated with my girlfriend about it. She says it is called 'Por-te-j'. In the end, she was right. I was teased. Nevermind, i admit she's smart. :)
Why did i choose this? I've always like the design...

Sony alpha A100
Review of Sony a (alpha) DSLR-A100W by
DarkNights
Advantages: Stlish digital slr
Disadvantages: sony customer service
...At first glance the sony alpha a100 feals slightyly plastickly, but this is partly due to the fact that the body itself is made out of plastic, never the less the sony a100 is a fantastic digital sslr for the first time photograhper.
Although it is slightly dissapointing that sony has not made a vertical grip for this product, overall the smooth shiny feal to the sony alpha a100, feals nice, and the shutter button fits snugguly into your right hand, however the camera is exceptional, but the custumer service is dreadful, when i accidently smashed my sony alpha 3 days after purchasing it, i was devistated, but not to worry, i was soon on to sony, and was relieved that there was a set price of £114 but i had to forck out a lumply sum of £360 to get it fixed.
There isnt realy a fixed price and the level of custumer service...

Good functional portable laptop
Review of Toshiba Portege A100 - Pentium M 1.4 GHz - 12.1" TFT by
chookoh
Advantages: Small, stylish, functional, 3 yr warranty
Disadvantages: Marginally underpowered, WiFi 802.11b (not g), screen gets dirty easily
...I wanted a laptop that was light and portable, that could handle average office and home tasks (but not high end games or video editing) and that was affordable. And I think that I found it, with a few minor quibbles.
The Toshiba Portege A100 is 2.2 kg and definitely portable. It is not the smallest laptop but it packs in a good sized keyboard, CDRW/DVD player and excellent connectivity with 4 USB2 ports and a Firewire port. It has a Intel Pentium M Centrino 1.4 GHz processor which means that it is reasonably powered, certainly enough for office tasks, internet surfing and MP3 playing, and it has wireless technology built-in, alth | | |
