...DVD was launched commercial over 10 years ago. The major manufacturers made the mistake of not licensing the technology appropriately and subsequently the cost of DVD players has fallen dramatically within the past 5 years. Some people may find it hard to justify the cost of a DVD player when they can picked up for £30, but I am going to write this review to communicate the advantages of having a medium range quality DVD player. So firstly, why Toshiba? Toshiba have an excellant reputation for producing quality products for a great price. There are some manufacturers such as Sony, that in my opinion rely too much on their brand image to sell the good. Toshiba both provide an excellant product, more importantly quality and value. Advantages: Light, Fast, Looks nice, Reliable, Value.
Disadvantages: Doesn't have a built in webcam or Bluetooth connectivity.

...'s but then I compared the price and immediately ruled them out as the cheapest one was £900, and the Toshiba's I was playing on ranged from £400 to £550. After comparing them all on the Toshiba website I found that the A200-195 was the best for me, as it offered a good sized hard drive, 120GB, quite large in comparison to other manufacturers' laptops, the general range seemed to be about 80GB. The processor was a 1.76GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo, this is important as it is a Core 2, this processor is the new one from Intel which is less demanding of the battery for better performance so it is a must in a laptop, again I was surprised to find that hardly any of the other laptops had Core 2's, until you got to the £900 price ranges, hence the battery life on the Toshiba was sold as 3 to 4 hours and the other laptops based on the Core 1 was 1.5 to 2 hours... ...INFO I have been involved with Toshiba laptops for a few years now. First in having one as a work laptop and secondly supporting them for other users. Toshiba have the ability to create a laptop that is rugged enough to withstand daily use whilst being designed well enough to fit the daily use it was intended for. The Portege R200 is no exception and is an exceptional laptop for the business traveller. Once given the go ahead to buy a couple of these I couldn't wait to ditch the Dell equivalents. COST I managed to secure 2 R200 laptops for a mere £1234 each excluding VAT from Inmac. I have however seen one on EBAY last week for £994. Now that's cheap. FIRST THOUGHTS When the first R200 arrived I couldn't believe the size of the box. It's so small you would think it had a couple of paperback novels in it and not a PC... Read review

...with the special tft monitor cleaner, just put on a cloth and everything comes off and leaves the monitor nice and gleaming! This laptop is very easy to use for any computer whizz or dummy (like me), as it is very easy to get to grips with. It has taken me all of a week to figure out where programmes are and stuff on here, more used to a computer! The ease is just incredable. Advantages: Robust, powerful, functionally superior to the competition. All you could ask for from a tablet pc.
Disadvantages: Can get hot, but nothing to worry about, battery life shorter than with other models (3.5hrs), heavier than the competition making it awkward for the true mobile user.

My evaluation has covered the HP Compaq TC1100, the Motion M1200, the Fujitsu Stylistic ST4120, and the Toshiba Portégé 3500. What follows is a brief discussion of the Toshiba Portege 3500 which I hope will give users some guidance and prove informative. Of all the tablet PC's currently on the market the Toshiba Portégé 3500 has the best performance of all the systems because it uses the Intel Pentium III-M 1.33 GHz processor and a fast hard drive. ...reduction, which pretty much eliminates all of the speckeldy fuzz you get on old videos, or where you don't get great reception. On a big telly, a poor signal looks nasty, but this, along with the clever auto tuning gets you great signal every time. Sky Digital looks pristine! In this day and age you expect TV to live for a few years, 5 or 6 at a push, as all that modern technology has a nice habit of breaking the day the warranty expires. I get the distinct feeling that Toshiba do things differently, maybe it’s because of the Toshiba telly I've had since I was aged minus two years, which is still in perfect working condition, and has outlived countless other TV's. ...for what you got. I spent many weeks trolling through web sites looking, comparing, evaluating, but couldn't find anything 'special'. Of course I didn't check Toshiba. Remember, I'd vowed not to! Then, in desperation, my defences crumbled and I checked out one or two Toshiba models available through internet stores. I was immediately attracted by the design. The machine looked quite different to the others I'd seen - no boring grey/black/silver cover. It seemed like the equivalent of an Apple for PCs. Checking through all the specs, I decided on the P10-873, as its price was attractive given its features and specs, and I've never looked back. I'd really wanted a computer with a 17" screen for graphics work and DVD viewing, but, due to availability issues at the time, risked the 15.4". What a wonder! I don't normally like widescreen...
