...The Toshiba Satellite L500 is the same as most other toshiba laptops. It looks stylish and can do all the basic functions that you would want for a laptop. However, when you use it, you dont feel very comfortable because it feels very cheap. The keyboard is very flimsy and feels like it is about to break every time you type something and the mouse pad and buttons do not respond well. However, the number pad on the right hand side of the keyboard is great as it makes it so easy to type numbers. You can buy this laptop with a range of processors and sizes of harddrive so you can choose the one which suits you best. The display is actually very good but the battery life could have been improved. On my model it will last for a maximum of 2.5 hours on its lowest power setting. ...a sweat. The graphics preformance of the laptop, though lacking slightly on the 3D and gaming side, excells at HD playback, which is as smooth as one could want. However, there are some shortfalls. The toshiba software is a little annoying and does slow the machine down a little, and sometimes doesn't work. For example, you can't change the screen brightness and or you can't lock the computer and it wont shut down. The headphone port placed at the front of the laptop below the trackpad is quite odd and I am always knocking into it, and resting on it when I am using the laptop. ...actually pretty impressive. Function The notebook works quite well with wireless internet and doesn't cut off often as I have found with wi-fi on some other laptops. It also has an impressive battery life, in a recent car journey, I found it lasted about 3 and 3/4 hours, easily enough time for all of the film I was watching as well as some of another. It is available in two versions, Ubuntu Linux and Windows XP Home., but the Linux has 512Mb of RAM and an 80Gb hard disk, the Windows one has 1Gb of RAM and a 120Gb drive. I personally own the windows version, since I know more about the operating system and prefer the high memory levels. The rest of it's specifications are pretty average for a note book and it runs as such. Overall The Toshiba NB100 is great if you're japanese and/or believe things should be made...

Toshiba A210-11P portable computer, not laptop

Advantages: Powerful, fast, quiet, good gaming
Disadvantages: Short battery 1 hour and a bit normally

...I bought this mainly for the graphics card, I was impressed with the desktop version so when my laptop died I thought "ill get a laptop with the same graphics as my desktop" bought in bennetts for a very reasonable price (100 pounds UNDER toshiba website RRP at the time i love loss leaders :D ) The machine is smooth, and fast, and with service pack 1 installed the webcam is now reliable!!! The integrated webcam is perfectly usable in most conditions however in low light the picture can look noisy (grainy). The integrated speakers are high quality and do not buzz even at very high volumes. The screen is very clear and clean, infact my friend who has a 17 inch HP which is only a few months older was looking at mine with envious eyes. Toshiba Satellite.. Uni Computer

Advantages: Cheap, Good Size, Battery Life Ok
Disadvantages: Low GB's, Hard Drive Weak

...I bought this computer about six months ago. The monitor size is nice and it gets most things done that I want to do which is good for the affordable price. A couple of negatives include the amount of space is low if you are into any sort of graphics or music, the computer tends to get really hot with use (it would be fine if you do not use it all day), Vista that is installed on the machine has been having difficulty picking up portable hard drives, and I also had issues with the hard drive a few months ago but they seem to have gone away. The battery life is alright, I have used it on flights and it has done the trick. Overall I would not have been able to afford anything if it was not this and it has done the trick. I recommend it for students (thats why I bought it)....
