Memory is Memory!
Review of Kingston ValueRAM DRAM 256 MB by
JonFeathers
Advantages: Good Make, Good Value
Disadvantages: None, Its memory.
...At the end of the day memory is memory, whether it is a generic brand or Kingston or Crucial isn't really going to affect things that much.
However when choosing your memory be aware of what kind of memory it is you are choosing.
The first thing is MB - MegaByte. This could be 128, 256, 512 and so on the more Megabyte you have the quicker your system should run.
As this is 256MB you have a good size for running normal everyday tools such as Outlook, Internet and Word.
However if you are into CAD drawing, using your PC as server or intense games you might want to look at 512MB.
The next thing is memory speed. In this case it is 333mhz (PC2700).
It could be 266mhz or 400mhz. Obviouslt the higher the better. However in order to really utilise this you need to have a processor that has a front side bus of the same or faster...

Toshiba Satelite Pro
Review of Toshiba Satellite Pro A10 - C 2.5 GHz - 14.1" TFT by
deadlysirius
Advantages: Reliable, solid machine
Disadvantages: Overheats! Beware
...solution is to prop up the laptop so that the underside vent can suck enough cool air into the casing. I routinely prop up my laptop with a book. Its very effective but obviously not ideal!
In all other respects the machine is solid and reliable.
Specification
Intel Celeron 2.80GHz
256MB RAM
40Gb Hitachi Hard drive
Toshiba DVD-ROM
14.1 TFT
SoundMAX Digital Audio
Software
Windows XP Pro Service Pack 2.
Micorsoft Office
Microsoft Office Onenote 2003 (tried it once, never bothered with it)
Toshiba Recovery Disks and utilites.
Buy if you wish but remember you'll have to prop it up to avoid overheating....

Advantages: great!!
Disadvantages: battery doesnt hold charge, power lead break easy, the speakers have blown after 7years
...this laptop is great, i have bought this for my fiance and my current also toshiba satellite range laptop, although the original battery has just died so that lasted 7years!! its been upgraded to highest spec and the cpu isnt as high as toshiba states its only a 450mhz soi not good for games or very fast on the internet.

donovan74
Advantages: COMPACT. WIRELESS. DVD PLAYER. LIGHT WEIGHT.
Disadvantages: 3 YEARS OLD. MOUSE TAKES TIME TO GET USED TO
...were absolutely brilliant, extremely helpful and with a little time got me wireless free.
TOSHIBA PORTEGE 4000 ( INFO )
Pentium plll 933Ghz CPU
256 Ram
30 GB Hard Disk Drive
Internal DVD Drive
12.1"TFT (XGA) Display
16MB VRam (video memory)
Internal 56k6 Modem
10-100 RJ45 Ethernet
F-Wire
Win XP Pro
SUMMARY
The Toshiba Portege 4000 has probably been updated several times in the past 3 years but from the early Dell Laptops there is no match. I would recommend this Laptop if you come across one either by chance or on ebay.
Toshiba as a manufacturer is now on my list of possible makes that I might purchase in the near future (tv, dvd, laptop,hi-fi) although I'm really very much a Sony fan.
I'm not to sure on the price side of things as this was a gift, but always be careful if you do buy secondhand (as laptops are very tricky). 8/10

all-round PDA with a nice price tag
Review of Toshiba Pocket PC E400 by
fraserscott
Advantages: Excellent features for price
Disadvantages: Availability of accessories
...everything, the Toshiba e400 is not perfect. My biggest objection to it is the lack of accessories when compared to other PDA’s like HP and Palm. It also only takes SD (Secure Digital) cards whereas others take both SD and Compact Flash. Despite this however I have managed to find, buy and very happily use an aluminium case, two-in-one USB charger/data cable, a wireless SD card, a 256Mb SD memory card and a wireless (infrared) keyboard.
Despite lacking larger internal storage, Bluetooth capability and other features I think this is an excellent option if you are looking for an all-round PDA with a nice price tag....

TOSHIBA PRO L10
Review of Toshiba Satellite Pro L10 - Celeron M 360 1.4 GHz - 15" TFT by
Kel1981
Advantages: Build quality, easy to use
Disadvantages: 256MB RAM
...installed 1 gig of RAM as opposed to the standard 256MB. The laptop is not as quick as I would like with only 256MB and I still dont understand why PC manufacturers are so tight with RAM its not THAT expensive.
The battery will last approx three hours depending on how many gizmos you have attached. I always use the mains lead at home due to the speaker setup I have and all the peripherals connected to the USB's (fancy mice with fans in them, light up mouse mats etc...) of which there are 3 (one being USB 2.0)
Overall a very reliable laptop which is suitable for replacing a desktop PC. Just upgrade the RAM to at least 512MB. I have rated the laptop with the standard 256MB.

kathryn.rosling
Advantages: Lightweight, small, battery life, stylish, robust, Excellent toshiba supprt
Disadvantages: Expensive if bought new (mine was second hand and very good value)
...The Toshiba M100 is one of the best laptops around, and for the price I paid, it offers so much. Well what can i say, i bought this machine second hand for £420 on ebay (3 MONTHS OLD) and have had it for approx 12 months. i would not swap it currently (11/11/05)
So what do I think of it, It is supurb .
It is fast functional and a stylish silver colour with good design. It has every function you could wish for including wireless card USB2 firewire IR bluetooth CDRW SD card slot win xp Pro good quality speakers and a lovely sharp crisp screen the softkey keyboard is easy to use. Very lightweight at under 2 kgs I can carry it around in my handbag (just).
The Toshiba M100 features an Intel Centrino 1.4 GHz processor (400 MHz data bus). The notebook usually ships with 256mb ram but can be upgraded to 2GB I opted to upgrade to 1 GB...

1988mike1988
Advantages: Sound and video!
Disadvantages: Keeps breaking, recommd getting a 2 year warrenty
...laptop for enterainment, i love sound and video quality. Toshiba did a good job designing this laptop but i would not under any circumstance recommend this as a notebook for serious gaming, regular carrying around... pretty heavy and might damage it - dispite the fact it has anti-shock features.
