Toshiba SD-260 DVD Player
Review of Toshiba SD-260 E by  lilyellowfish

Advantages: Looks good, easy to use, good value for money
Disadvantages: No disc resume feature

...The first thing you notice with this Toshiba SD-260 DVD Player is that it looks good, it's silver, think and looks modern and stylish. The height is 43.8 mm, width is 421 mm and the depth is 260 mm and it weighs 2.3 kg, which is fairly light. On the front it has a tray on the left, which is hidden and on the right it has 6 buttons - eject, stop, play/pause, fast forward, rewind and power. When the power button is on it lights up blue. In the middle of the player there is an LCD display where the timings and chapters of the DVD are displayed. I decided to buy this DVD Player as it was a Toshiba, who are a respectable electronics manufacturer, so I thought I would be safe buying the product from them, and I have not been dissappointed. I have had this DVD Player for a year now and have had no problems, apart from loosing... Read review

Slim Toshiba DVD player performs well
Review of Toshiba SD340E by  bowdeni

Advantages: Multi Region, Good picture, slim, durable
Disadvantages: No Scart, not a recorder

...DVD was launched commercial over 10 years ago. The major manufacturers made the mistake of not licensing the technology appropriately and subsequently the cost of DVD players has fallen dramatically within the past 5 years. Some people may find it hard to justify the cost of a DVD player when they can picked up for £30, but I am going to write this review to communicate the advantages of having a medium range quality DVD player. So firstly, why Toshiba? Toshiba have an excellant reputation for producing quality products for a great price. There are some manufacturers such as Sony, that in my opinion rely too much on their brand image to sell the good. Toshiba both provide an excellant product, more importantly quality and value. 'What hifi' have for many years ranked Toshiba as the best budget DVD player, and the Toshiba SD340E itself... Read review

Review of Toshiba SD330E DVD Player
Review of Toshiba SD-330E by  jomaco

Advantages: multi region feature, excellent audio and video quality
Disadvantages: manual supplied had no english section

...Within the last 2 years I have purchased two other DVD players in the Toshiba range, an SD210E and an SD110E. The range-topping SD330E was purchased for its multi-region capability which is essential if playing DVDs from abroad. A multi-standard (NTSC/PAL) TV is another essential component for a small home cinema system based upon the SD330E. I use a small, 13 inch, Sharp LCD TV which is stacked with a whole range of features including automatic NTSC/PAL switching. Curiously the SD330E bears very little physical resemblance to its predecessors. It is the same width and depth of its cousins but only two-thirds the height. The most striking difference between the models is in the weight of the SD330E, which, thanks to switch-mode technology used in the design of the power supply, is very light and creates an immediate, first... Toshiba DVD player SD370
Review of Toshiba SD-370 by  pharmacy123

Advantages: Upscaling ability, picture quality is exceptional - 5 stars
Disadvantages: DVD tray wont like small children poking fingers in!

...What HiFi gave this player 5 star rating commenting that it believed Toshiba had shot itself in the foot by producing such a good player at such a cheap price, even comparing it £200 players. On this basis alone, I bought one. Firstly, it is exceptionally slimline, Victoria Beckham would love it. But that aside, do not be put off by the price tag, The finish of this player is good. If you have small children then perhaps the DVD tray is somewhat thin and frail and will not take kindly to heavy handed children or adults, for that matter. This aside, however, the optical result are exceptional. I have to keep smiling when I realise how little this player costs. The ability to scale up DVD's to 1080i works very well with the colours becoming richer and the definition becoming much more pinsharp - all in a player that costs so little. I... Read review

DVD player with a bad stutter
Review of Toshiba Toshiba SD-5000 DVD Player by  harry1511

Advantages: Upconversion to 1080i, HDMI, DIVX Playback
Disadvantages: Not very Durable, Both my players have broken

...A great DVD player with Upconversion to 780p/1080i, HDMI and component video outputs as well as DIVX playback. Pity that it will only play for 60minutes before playback grinds to a halt. I bought this player as I've not long upgraded to a HDTV. I was noticing a bit of picture derogation using my old player (connected via SCART) and decided it was time to upgrade. I was not happy buying a Blue ray or HD DVD player until for format war has finished, so i was looking for a player with HDMI output. As soon as I saw the SD-5000 I was impressed with the slim design and the front of the player has a great finish and I knew it would look good underneath my TV. Once connected to my TV via the HDMI ( note no HDMI cable was included with the player I felt a little disappointed with this) The picture was improved instantly... Read review

Toshiba SD330E
Review of Toshiba SD330E by  goofy123

Advantages: 'Toshiba Brand Name' Multi Region capability
Disadvantages: No On Board DTS/Dolby Digital Decoder

...I bought the Toshiba SD330E DVD player 3 Months ago. My choice, was influenced at the time by the price (£49.99), and, having already owned the lower model Toshiba SD125E. Advantages of the SD330E: = Plays DVD, VCD, Audio CD (inc mp3/ wma format) JPEG's (Photo cd's/dvd's) , as well as DVD-R discs of dvd video format, with no problems. Multi Region Capable (provided you check where you are buying it from). Component video outputs, coaxial audio & optical audio outputs. (For those wishing to connect to Home Cinema / Plasma's or LCD televisions. Superb Picture Quality, (even when connected with Scart Lead) I have mine connected to my home cinema system, through the optical out connection, and, well, lets just say, this is how DVD should be observed!! A Superb DVD Player
Review of Toshiba SD220E by  jcneil

Advantages: Picture, Sound, Cheap
Disadvantages: None

...Advantages Picture, Sound, Cheap Disadvantages None INTRODUCTION ........................ I have been searching for a DVD player for a while due to the lack of ability the Playstation 2 has of playing DVD's well. Now my playstation 2 has broken I decided I needed to get myself a stand alone DVD player instead of playing them on my Playstation 2. MY VIEW ON THE PLAYER ...................................... I had been very aware of the Toshiba SD220E after reading many glowing reviews of Toshiba's budget DVD range. This DVD player is part of an award winning range that came out a couple of years ago which including the SD210. Also on dooyoo. BUYING THE PLAYER ............................... I happened to find this player on ebay so I thought I would bid, As it happens I won the bid at a total cost of £20... Read review

A superb dvd player at a superb price
Review of Toshiba SD 220 E by  Mister-x

Advantages: Value for money,Nice looks, superb quality playback, wealth of sockets available
Disadvantages: selling like hot cakes, needs chip to be made multi-region capable, no scart lead.

...The Toshiba SD220E is my 3rd DVD player I have bought. Purchasing one is a veritable minefield of new acroynms to get your head around. My first 2 dvd players I bought because they were cheap, unfortunatly the players themselves were too. The Toshiba SD220E on the other hand is one hell of a piece of kit for your money. I payed £134.99 including vat and delivery from www.dvdplayers.co.uk for a pre multi-region chipped model in silver. The dvd player itself is a very sleek and stylish looking addition to anyones tv rack. One thing that suprised me was the narrow width of the player. It comes with every socket on the back of the dvd player you could ask for. It does not however have analogue outs for 5.1 sound as the player does not contain a decoder. It does however have coaxial and optical outputs if one decides to connect a 5... Read review

Perfect little player? Well, almost!
Review of Toshiba Toshiba SD270E by  MizzMolko

Advantages: Some very good features included (see review)
Disadvantages: Button response is slow at times

...When I was first contemplating getting a DVD player for my bedroom, I wasn't really after anything that was too up-to-date or overly stylish. I was just after a fairly cheap, easy to operate player that would serve the purpose of playing a variety of DVD's without too much bother. As with most products, I shop around a fair bit, searching the internet for a good product at a good price before committing to anything. As it was finally decided that I would be getting a DVD player for Christmas, I gave my parents a list of players that appealed to me, all with one function that was essential. More on that in a little while. So, roll onto the 25th of December and I was fairly happy when I got the Toshiba SD270E as a present. Although, I have to say, I was expecting a Philips player and my initial thoughts were that I would have... Read review

Fantastic DVD player for a knock-down price
Review of Toshiba SD-100E by  Crazy-Christian

Advantages: It laughs at VCRs!
Disadvantages: I'm still thinking...

...The only thing better than getting your first DVD player is getting your second one - ‘cos now you’ve got something to compare it to! My first player was a Limit (no, I’d never heard of them, either) as recommended by Richer Sounds. It fitted my budget of £200, so I took it home. It did the job very well until it came unstuck with my "Chicken Run" DVD; it kept freezing at a certain part and I was informed that it was a generic problem with that model. The one they offered me in its place was the Toshiba SD-100E. Personally, I couldn’t care less about the look of my audio/video equipment, but for those of you who do, it’s rectangular and comes in silver or black: I took the silver one. What more can I say? Thankfully, it’s a very easy piece of equipment to connect. This is something with which... Read review
