Review of Toshiba SD330E DVD Player
Review of Toshiba SD-330E by
jomaco
Advantages: multi region feature, excellent audio and video quality
Disadvantages: manual supplied had no english section
...Within the last 2 years I have purchased two other DVD players in the Toshiba range, an SD210E and an SD110E. The range-topping SD330E was purchased for its multi-region capability which is essential if playing DVDs from abroad. A multi-standard (NTSC/PAL) TV is another essential component for a small home cinema system based upon the SD330E. I use a small, 13 inch, Sharp LCD TV which is stacked with a whole range of features including automatic NTSC/PAL switching.
Curiously the SD330E bears very little physical resemblance to its predecessors. It is the same width and depth of its cousins but only two-thirds the height. The most striking difference between the models is in the weight of the SD330E, which, thanks to switch-mode technology used in the design of the power supply, is very light and creates an immediate, first...

Toshiba SD330E
Review of Toshiba SD330E by

Advantages: 'Toshiba Brand Name' Multi Region capability
Disadvantages: No On Board DTS/Dolby Digital Decoder
...I bought the Toshiba SD330E DVD player 3 Months ago.
My choice, was influenced at the time by the price (£49.99), and, having already owned the lower model Toshiba SD125E.
Advantages of the SD330E:
=
Plays DVD, VCD, Audio CD (inc mp3/ wma format) JPEG's (Photo cd's/dvd's) , as well as DVD-R discs of dvd video format, with no problems.
Multi Region Capable (provided you check where you are buying it from).
Component video outputs, coaxial audio & optical audio outputs. (For those wishing to connect to Home Cinema / Plasma's or LCD
televisions.
Superb Picture Quality, (even when connected with Scart Lead)
I have mine connected to my home cinema system, through the optical out connection, and, well, lets just say, this is how DVD should be observed!!
Disadvantages...

Toshiba DVD player is a winner
Review of Toshiba SD-330E by
SophW13
Advantages: Attractive, Easy to use, light weight
Disadvantages: ???? None
...I have had this DVD player for a long time now. It is a silver coloured player with a green frosted covering on the front. A very attractive, yet simple design. This is my second DVD player and I love it!! It is by far the best player I have experienced compared to my families and friends different players.
This DVD player can also playback a multi-regional selection of DVD's. I must warn you to playback region one DVD's you need a compatiable TV. It is also a digital photo view and I have made photo cds in Picasa and watched them back on my DVD player which I was extremely pleased about. The DVD player also had enhanced audio and dialogue mode. For those of you like me that means nothing!! But basically it means that in audio mode you can get a 3-D surround sound quality effect with just the two speakers built into the system...

A gem of a DVD player
Review of Toshiba SD330E by
shouterX
Advantages: Sleek, stylish design that is very compact
Disadvantages: Might be hard to get hold of one, unless its second hand
...One quick look on Amazon UK reveals that this has been discontinued by them. It is where I purchased this player for a mere £80 a year ago and what a bargain.
It looks great, is very sleek and compact taking up very little room. It has read every disc I have put into it containing DVD/CD/VCD/SVCD
files and also MP3/WMA.
On the back it has among others component outputs and optical audio. When buying a DVD player look out for these as they provide maximum quality in terms of sound and picture. As long as your TV or home cinema reciever has those inputs you won't go far wrong.
The only small criticism I have of this is the slight ghosting that I get on my Toshiba TV, but that maybe because I'm using a cheap S video cable and haven't got around to fitting the component cables yet- this is reflected in the rating below...

A suitable purchase for most buyers.
Review of Toshiba SD-330E by
MusicSam
Advantages: Picture and sound quality
Disadvantages: You could pay more for a better machine.
...--A BIT OF BACKGROUND--
The realease of this DVD player was quite a suprise to me, in that it replaced the very adequate machine, the SD-220E. This player which has now become the little sister of the 330E was reatiled at £180! And although the newer SD-330E is significantly cheaper, it has modified and upgraded components (compared to the 220E) that not only must incease production costs and value of the machine, but dramaticaly improve the sound and picture quality!
--CHARACTORISTICS--
The picture quality of this player is exeptional at the price. Reds are very vibrant (which is a colour that dvd players find hardest to produce - I read once). The contrast and seperation of colours is very good, and for a player of this price you could class the picture as being pin sharp.
The reason I say this machine is a suitable...

Best budget buy, by far.
Review of Toshiba SD-330E by
seanppk
Advantages: Too many to list.
Disadvantages: Still looking...
...plugged in my Toshiba SD-330 and had to stop ourselves from watching the whole movie because we were so impressed with the quality of the picture and sound. And that was only using the SCART connection. Following this we swapped from the SCART to the alternative component inputs (which splits the signals being sent from the DVD player to the TV) and even though we didn't think it possible, the picture improved again. It was clean, vibrant and rich, with great blacks (not various shades of dark grey) and beautiful clarity. My friend went and bought one the next day (he now uses the £700 Pioneer in his bedroom).
Appearance:
The size of the unit was also astounding at 22 cm deep, but only 6cm high. How do they fit everything in? Of course there is a choice of colours, black or silver, and since I have the black and my friend has the silver, I...

Great Product
Review of Toshiba SD330E by
dougcam1
Advantages: Everything
Disadvantages: Nothing
...This is simply a superb DVD player. For less than £100, back in the days when a good multiregion DVD player cost a lot more than that, I've had several years of trouble-free viewing.
The picture is sharp and clear, and the sounds really hit the spot. It has additional ports at the rear for connections to more advanced speaker or home cinema options for best results, though the quality that comes though a normal TV with the SCART socket is hard to fault.
The menus are very easy to navigate, with various picture and sound output options to ensure you get the best possible results. The CD playback is fine, though it could do with an MP3 capability to bring it up to date.
The design is sleek and stylish, and setup, as with most audio-visual equipment these days, is almost too easy, so I don't have any comments...

Slim Toshiba DVD player performs well
Review of Toshiba SD340E by
bowdeni
Advantages: Multi Region, Good picture, slim, durable
Disadvantages: No Scart, not a recorder
...DVD was launched commercial over 10 years ago. The major manufacturers made the mistake of not licensing the technology appropriately and subsequently the cost of DVD players has fallen dramatically within the past 5 years. Some people may find it hard to justify the cost of a DVD player when they can picked up for £30, but I am going to write this review to communicate the advantages of having a medium range quality DVD player.
So firstly, why Toshiba? Toshiba have an excellant reputation for producing quality products for a great price. There are some manufacturers such as Sony, that in my opinion rely too much on their brand image to sell the good. Toshiba both provide an excellant product, more importantly quality and value. 'What hifi' have for many years ranked Toshiba as the best budget DVD player, and the Toshiba SD340E itself...

Toshiba or not Toshiba DVD is the question
Review of Toshiba SD-2109 by
Squidget
Advantages: Excellent picture quality and they are lowering in price and are simple to use ans set up
Disadvantages: DVD disc's are a little to expensive although they will probably lower in price as the revolutioon takes off
...no tuning was required, but I was till unsure what to do with it as I had never used a scart cable, and in the instructions it does not mention that scart is an automatic tuner, that was only pit fall about the instructions that I have found. So I connected the cable turned on the DVD and instantly a message appeared on the TV welcoming me to DVD by Toshiba, amazing or what I thought. That then gave me my next worry, I tried to change channels but it automatically goes back to your scart channel, I referred back to instructions and this is where I found out that it automatically goes to scart when DVD is on full power, to get back to normal TV just put it on standby, as simple as that that was my DVD player fully installed almost as easy as the kettle.
Now on to the features!
Picture Quality:
The qualities of DVD movies are simply...
