~~~Extra description~~~
The Qosmio G20 is a silver finished laptop with has 'Qosmio' engraved on the outside. The inside boasts a spectacular looking shiny black finish which will get grubby with finger marks. The standard keyboard has two speakers either side which are controlled by an orginal metallic wheel which when turned, switches on some rather fancy volume lights just below the keyboard. To the left of the laptop, there is a smal panel just below...
Typical Toshiba
Advantages: Ease of use, memory capacity
Disadvantages: Quality, feel, value for money
...The Toshiba Satellite L500 is the same as most other toshiba laptops. It looks stylish and can do all the basic functions that you would want for a laptop. However, when you use it, you dont feel very comfortable because it feels very cheap. The keyboard is very flimsy and feels like it is about to break every time you type something and the mouse pad and buttons do not respond well. However, the number pad on the right hand side of the keyboard is great as it makes it so easy to type numbers. You can buy this laptop with a range of processors and sizes of harddrive so you can choose the one which suits you best. The display is actually very good but the battery life could have been improved. On my model it will last for a maximum of 2.5 hours on its lowest power setting.
Overall, this laptop is reasonable at most things but not...
Qosmio Out Of This World
Advantages: High Definition, Great Graphics, Awesome Sound, Wicked Processor + more
Disadvantages: Size and weight
...Andreas, PREY, F.E.A.R, Stubbs . Rebel Without A Pulse, Reservoir Dogs, Quake4, Halo, TOCA3, BattleField2, Hitman: Blood Money to name a few. In my opinion you have to play PREY or F.E.A.R to see what this laptop can really do.
The built in hybrid analog and digital DVB-t TV tuner is really good. Easy to setup and install with loads of features. This all runs through Media Center which comes installed. Recording programs, pause live TV, fast forward, rewind etc. You can also play music CDs, DVDs, and watch TV just by pressing a button when the laptop is off through the Qosmio Player.
The amount of connections is good USB2.0 (x4), headphone, microphone, iEE, MemoryStick reader, TV out (x2), Composite, VGA, Scart, 56k Modem, Lan, Wireless, Bluetooth, PCMIA + more.
The DVD drive is also excellent, its called a DVD Super Multi drive, what...
Toshiba Equium
Advantages: Value For money
Disadvantages: No Bluetooth
...i first bought a Toshiba around about 4 or 5 years ago, it was a toshiba tecra m3, it was a lovely laptop until i dropped it and broke it, i decided that i would replace it with another toshiba because of the previous good reliability i had got from the machine, i thing that attracted me to this laptop was firstly the fact it was an operating system upgrade for me and secondly the superior specifications, the only down side being that there is no integrated bluetooth and trusted security platform, i found that the offers that were available at the time of purchase were very reasonable and i feel i got great value for money, i also think that the designer of this laptop has taken very great care with the general look and feel of the laptop and have put a lot of thought into the hardware they have supplied and it holds pride of place...
Save up some dosh to buy this Tosh...iba
Advantages: Fast, Portable, Comfortable and Sleek, HD Resolution, Toshiba support is brilliant!
Disadvantages: Awful grapics card, Not very durable, Speaker volume isn't fab...
...that law legal. So the laptop, it's got plenty of positives and only a few negatives. And if you've read my other reviews, I like to get the negatives out of the way first.
NEGATIVES
I'll get straight to the point, the graphics card is seriously bad, there's no way around it. It's a new thing where your computers RAM is used to power some of the graphics, like video and pictures. However this won't work with high-end games like the Call of Duty series or Crysis. This however, isn't a laptop you'd buy if you were wanting one for gaming, so it's not a major draw back. Another bad point is the durability, which isn't great. The lid can be pushed in, revealing it is fairly hollow apart from the screen and its components. I thought this a bit stupid as Toshiba are just wasting money making more material, why not just make it thin and tight guys...
Toshiba Equium L20 -198
Advantages: Lightweight & compact
Disadvantages: Low battery life, Rubbish sound, Low Ram
...a signal. the L20 is not Bluetooth enabled but works fine after adding a Dongle and downloading the appropriate software. I have had the Laptop now some six months and already I require a new screen which Toshiba have agreed to come and collect and deliver back once repaired this is due to the screen flickering and causing large random colour changes. I would not recommend this laptop to buyers as it doesn't seem as rugged as I thought it would be and would recommend you pay that bit extra and go for a more top end Laptop. I do recommend though the Toshiba Service & support whom when I contacted responded emmediatly....
The Toshiba L20 - My laptop of choice
Advantages: Smart, Simplistic, Durable, Reliable, Allows for different types of internet connection
Disadvantages: Fairly small hard-drive
...of their files.
Third, the laptop comes bundled with alot of pre-installed and optional software. Now some may say that it is often unfair for companies to bundle in their own software as it often adds to the price, but in this case we can see that the price remains incredibly low. Importantly, Toshiba's ConfigFree Software which is brilliant in the detection of wireless connections and also in its troubleshooting techniques for detecting errors in attempting to connect to wireless network.
Fourth, unlike some companies, this software REALLY IS OPTIONAL. It can be removed easily and swiftly, and reinstalled again, if necessary, just as fast. As a bonus, all the installation files for the software is included on the harddrive and is optional to keep or can be transferred to a CD easily as it is all contained within one directory for your...
Toshiba F20 - Very Hard To 'GigaBEAT'
Advantages: User friendly, audio & visual quality, good size hard drive
Disadvantages: Touch pad is a little tricky to get used to at first
...I have been collecting cd's for about 8 years now, and when deciding to purchase an MP3 player, I took the decision very seriously. My first thought was to forget going down the i-pod route, simply because everyone else was 'raving' about it, and there had to be something on the market equally as good if not better. I was right! After comparing many reviews on various websites, and test-running in many electrical retailers, I finally bought the Toshiba Gigabeat F20. Large screen, great visual quality, excellent sound, easy to use - and most importantly.........Good size hard drive space.
After getting to grips with the software and using the 'gigabeat room' a couple of times, I found it quite user friendly, and in no time at all, I was scanning my own album covers to use when ripping. Navigating using the touch pad took a little...
