Advantages: Fast, easy to get on with
Disadvantages: Battery is so poor!

...This is the TOSHIBA Satellite laptop. Most people think of up to the minute technology, and all of the things that a small wireless system can do. I was given this laptop as a gift, and a very nice gift it was too. I was so happy when I recieved it. I am unsure of the price, of when buying, but I have seen online that this laptop is available for around £350 - £425, depending on where bought, and what comes with the package. The laptop is on Windows XP, not the new vista package. I am quite happy with Windows XP. I used a desktop comptuer before recieving this laptop, and like the way Windows XP is layed out, and the sounds and features. I have heard that Vista is a bad upgrade, and far better sticking with XP. I am glad I have stuck with something I like so much. I use this laptop everyday, and everyday I use, it never fails me... ...So what's it got and is it worth it. My 530 come with Vista Home Basic 32 pre-installed with the option of the Business 32 version for a little extra. It's powered by an IntelCore Due T2050 processor at 1.6GHz with 2MB level 2 cache and 533MHz FSB. The memory let's it down at only 512Mb, which struggles to keep up woth the demand of Vista. The good news is that the memory can be upgraded to up to 2Gb, however we opted to trash Vista in favour of our ol favourite Windows XP Home. Storage is a reasonable 80Gb SATA Hard Disk Drive and a combi DVD/CD RW drive wth double layer capability allows for essential backups, and writing speeds that won't keep you waiting. I first saw this product on the comet website, as i was looking for my first laptop to use at home and at school, the price looked good for the specification of the laptop. ...Toshiba, one of the best names in laptop computers about and if you are looking to pay a little less for your laptop but want a good machine then the new Satellite Pro L40 is ideal. It hasn't got dual core but at the end of the day who really needs this. This laptop is and ideal buy for any company that gives laptops to their employees, or whether you want a machine to potter about at home on. Extremely stylish and lite weight, this can be carried anywhere with you and has wi-fi so if you require it for business purposes then don't worry you can still log on in your hotel room. 512MB RAM is quite enough for any user, in my job the files produce are of extreme size and there is no problem storing all this on this machine. ...i bought this computer to replace my desktop which was getting old and slow. it came with Windows XP media center, but they offered a Vista Home Premium upgrade for very cheap which i took. i have now owned this laptop for 1.5 years, and thus i have got around to figure out most of the pros and cons of this computer. looks: the look is not great, but because the laptop was cheap i didn't complain... screen: the screen is quite decent, even though it is not as bright as most of the desktop's LCD screens. Processor: the in built 1.6GHz processor is quite fast and works perfectly fine with various applications open at the same time. Memory: the 1 gb memory that comes with the laptop is not enough to run Windows Vista Home Premium if you use memory intensive applications such as an internet browser, and i have thus upgraded... ...This is my second Toshiba Satellite. Until recently I have been using a slightly dated but very effective Toshiba Satellite L10-114. Having recently purchased this new one though, I have to say there is a substantial improvement over my old lap top. I run my own business from home and my lap top is my life line and main source of income so it always has to be Toshiba for me. They are so reliable and trustworthy that I will not risk any other make now. The L40-12T is simply a stunning looking machine and creates an instant wow factor - key when using it in front of clients at presentations etc. It looks like a far more expensive machine than it really is. This is sadly quite key in such a material world. The resolution of the screen is of the highest order in my opinion. For some reason - and there may be a technical reason... Read review

...Fantastic, reliable, affordable, stylish laptop. I\'ve had this laptop for a few months, I purchased it from Comet at a price of £499 including Saturday delivery. It comes with a 15.4 inch LCD screen which gives a beautiful picture - colours are truly amazing. 120gb harddrive, DVD player which supports DVD+-R Double Layer/DVD+-RW, 1gb RAM and is wireless. The best part is it comes with Windows Vista Home Premium - an absolute must have for home users. The games which are pre installed are great for young children, teenagers and even for us adults. The games range from a Cake Store where you have to make cakes, match 2 same pictures and then solitaire.
