Since I work with multimedia and am very impressed with the software delivered with iLife (disk included with the Apple products) I was disappointed to see that most of the items which are of use, do not work using Leopard. So I returned to the older Tiger and this is the system that I am presently testing. With only 1GB of memory I believed that the applications may be a little slow but actually everything seems to be operating as usual. My old Titanium runs at 400MHz and so with the present speed of 2.16GHz I expected an increase in speed but should have known that there would be no change. great laptop

Advantages: protable
Disadvantages: no gaming

...again like all the travelmates this laptop is specifically designed for those working people. it just makes working on your laptop that little bit easier. most acers however don't look very stylish, however there is an element to this that acer have actually tried to make this one look nice for a change. there are better looking laptops out there but I think this travelmate actually looks pretty good. however it does still look a bit bulky compared to the newer laptops out there. This features a turion 64x2 processor which runs the 1gb installed ram like a dream. Another great thing about this laptop is that the ram can be upgraded to 4gb, this isn't cheap however and could cost over £100 to upgrade it to 4gb of ram, however this would make the laptop run so much faster so if you do need a really fast laptop then this is possible...

Advantages: reasonable high spec, plenty of USB ports, wireless LAN, firewire, very good price

...only uses 65 Watts of Electric, Better for the environment  and cheaper for my bills. In Windows Vista the Processor gets rated 4.9 out of 5.9 on the Windows Experience Index which you can tell is very good for such a low priced CPU. I would recommend getting a Power Supply of at least 400Watts for this processor and it must have a 24 Pin Power connector and a P4 Connector for the Motherboard, if you do not the computer may not start. You will also need to find a compatible motherboard for this as well but if you are building your own PC I would suspect you know which parts to use. The CPU Runs at 2.3 GHZ it is overclockable but I did not try this as the computers were not for me. AMD 64 4200+ X2 AM2 (2.2GHz) processor!

Advantages: Dual Core, Low power usage* and Fast!
Disadvantages: Motherboards can be costly for this!

...pentiums can be twice the price for the same spec AMD! In comparison to my old computer (old old p4 1.9Ghz with 1gb ram) this processor helps to wipe the floor with my old computer. The dual core feature means that in comparison i can listen to music, run an anti-virus scan, spyware and adware scan and play Hitman: Blood Money at the same time with very little noticeable shuddering or lag! Excellent. If my old computer attempted this bouts of freezing and poor gameplay would occur! The startup speeds of the computer are very noticeable as it takes around 40secs to boot in total (after everything has loaded up) whereas my old computer would literally take atleast 4 minutes to boot everything up - no joke! ...Around a year ago, I built myself a computer and decided to continue using AMD processors as I have found them to be very reliable. I opted for the X2 4800+ as it was the right value of power and price. The installation of the processor was relatively hassle free and without problem as the bundled heat sink had easy fit fixtures attached to it. Once the processor was installed and all the componants put in place, the computer worked without a problem and even when putting the processor under load. Due to the case that I selected the air flow was fantastic so the processor ran realitvely cold, around 45 - 50 degrees. I found the processor to be very versatile as well, as I overclocked each core to over 3GHz without any loss of stability and there was also software provided that allowed for a variable clockspeed depending on the load...

AMD turion tl-58:- a great prcessor all round

Advantages: speed, perormance, no dodgy intel media graphics

...The processor operates at 1.9 Ghz which is not the fastest processor in the world, the fastest in the family of processors is the Turion TL-66 at 2.3Ghz. This speed is definately not bad though, with many intel laptop processors coming in at around 1.6 Ghz to 2Ghz. The speed is definately more than fast enough for the standard home user and probably fine for business use or even professional use. Although it is not the fastest it is still reasonable, and it has to be said that being a laptop processor it can not be expected to reach the same speeds as desktop processors which I have known to reach 3.2Ghz.
